really nice camera system
just installed 2 days ago to replace existing defender wireless system. picture quality is excellent. install wasnt too bad. just make sure when you pull the cable for the camera that you pull the right end to where your dvr is otherwise you will end up having to re-run a wire like we did. all in all a really great system. only downside I have found is that the field of view is narrower than our wireless systems was. not really a drawback but gives us less coverage of some areas.

camera system
I recently installed a 4k, 5 camera wired system. The video quality was the reason I made this purchase. So far the video is great (except for one camera and defender is working on that). I have two complaints about this system. Camera mounts and apple software. If you are an Apple user you might not a have issue, but to me the apple issue was almost a deal breaker. One The cameras do not have a ball mount, that allows the camera view angle to be changed sideways. It only has up and down angles. I ended up cutting wedges for the base of the camera, in order to get the camera angle I wanted. A bit of a pain, but in my case doable. Just added several hours to the install. A ball type mount would have made the install so much easier. Two (major issue) The Apple software sucks. If you do not have an apple or an android device, don't even try to get remote access to the cameras. Defender will not support a windows based computer system. I found out this the hard way. I had to change the whole installation location because of this issue. Instead of using an easily accessible and secure location, I had to route cables from my attic, through a wall to my computer desk and purchase a video switch with cables, to access the DVR software. The apple software must be downloaded off the on line store. I did so on my wifes two newer apple devises and my older iphone. I my case the software would not install on my iPad, because my iPad, is in apples words "is to too old" and did not have the current operating system. (that is a whole other problem) Installing a remote user is extremely difficult. I have tried several times to add my wifes' iPhone and New iPad. So far at least 8+ hours of labor and No luck on any attempt. Defender help, so far has been fast to respond, but I still can not add a user. I did some how, get my model 5 iPhone to access the system. The software on the phone, eats battery time for lunch. Not great if you can not charge your phone after 30 minutes of use. I like the system on a whole. I am learning the DVR software, even though it is not intuitive.

Then please click Manage sharing Settings Tap the plus to Add Recipient Enter the Mobile Phone Number or Email Address of the person you want to share with. Enter Remarks to leave the recipient details about the request. Never send the device password in the remarks section. Tap the Check mark icon to send. The recipient will receive a notification that there is a device to share. Tap Scan QR Code to scan the recipient’s device QR Code. The recipient will receive a notification that there is a device to share. The Recipient can find their QR Code by tapping More > Account Management > My QR Code. The code can be sent to the requester and scanned remotely. Great quality and customer service!
My husband and I purchased defender's 16 channel camera system in December of 2022. Our system came when they said it would with everything meticulously packaged. My husband was able to install everything with ease by using the specifically detailed startup guide. We were given an update to install and we did have a little trouble installing it but, after emailing Defender, they were quick to get back to us and walk us through it with no problems. We like being able to view our cameras on our cell phones with the Defender Empower app. We think the quality of footage is very sharp and clear. We occasionally got a false alarm on our phones but I'm pretty sure that's because we are still learning about the system and probably need to adjust the sensitivity. If you go to settings in the DVR, you can customize your system to your specific wants. I am confident that we will be using this security system for years to come! We feel the price is spot on. We would definitely recommend this to family and friends!

Great product but needs a little work.
I bought this product a month ago, installation was effortless. Day time video is excellent night time is not comparable although it still does provide very good video. 3 of my cameras have a pink vertical line on the left side and will only show up on the day time. The app itself is user friendly but would crash when playing maximum allowed cameras back simultaneously. Overall, i am very satisfied with this unit if this issues would get fixed.

Clear pictures, fairly easy to use
Bought this about 6 weeks ago and I just installed it 3 days ago (reason for 4 stars). The quality seems to be good and easy to use,nice clear pictures. Wish it came with a user manual for faster, easier references. I think it is going to do a good job for what we needed.

Friendly and easy to install
I have been looking for a security system for awhile. When I read all the great reviews regarding this unit I made up my mind. I opened the box and it was just like everyone had said, everything was included and the installation was simple. I had fingers crossed that once the installation was complete the picture quality was as good as everyone said. It was everything I was hoping for and more. They have 100ft plus range with great quality of pictures. I would totally recommend this system to anyone looking for a new system. By the way I never write reviews for any product but this one was just that good.
Unbelievable Views

The Defender system was very easy to install and the mobile app works great. The 4K cameras make viewing what is going on around the shop sharp and clear. The night vision is very clear as well. More than likely that is when I will need it most.

Peace of Mind!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have a vacation home and am looking forward to "keeping an eye" on it when we are not there. Aside from the complexity of installing/hiding wiring in attics and walls, the Defender 4K was very easy to install. The power connections, wiring and connections are very well made, well marked and a breeze to connect. My only issue was the DVR power supply out of the box would not power up. A new power supply and DVR is being shipped out, and once it is installed, I'll update the review. Looking forward to having the peace of mind Defender 4K will bring.

Fantastic system!
I absolutely love this system. 8 megapixel cameras do make a big difference and they definitely helped in the stores that we've installed them in being able to see things that we weren't able to see with blurred clarity before. We already foiled 1 criminal activity after the first week of being install. Highly recommended for everyone and it is a great bang for the buck.

Installing was pretty simple and straightforward - the cameras are lightweight & weather resistant. The resolution is AWESOME, very clear - not glitchy, the night feature is the BEST! These cameras can be hooked up to your phone via Defender's free app which provides added security when you are away from home.
