Great quality with easy to understand startup instruction guide. Everything was in the kit to get the system up and going. This system is self contained where the video data is stored safety on your local high capacity DVR with no monthly fees that never end. The system is highly customizable to fit your unique needs.

Purchased this system to keep an eye on our camp. Install of cameras and wire routing was fairly straight forward, you will quickly identify if you have grabbed the wrong end of the cable for the camera. We installed all 4 cameras connected them to the DVR and plugged in the power, it was very rewarding to have the setup screen flash on with images from the 4 working cameras in the background. Set up of the software was okay following the provided instructions, getting the app set up for remote viewing from the phone was a fairly simple process with a QR code. After that, your on your own, and much of it is not that intuitive, but there is plenty of Youtube videos and other forums for operating the system. The cameras are decent quality and the DVR seems solid enough. But time will tell.

Was excited to set this up thinking it would be easy based on the number of 5 star reviews on their website. I was surprised to see that all the mobile apps have 2 star reviews and are not the easiest to use. If Defender could find a more complicated setup procedure I think they would. Even the customer service is meant to serve them and not the customer. No phone support. Chat is only available business hours on the east coast time. No after hour or weekend support. When chatting with support they send you to manuals and videos vs telling you want to do. What should have taken 5 min took over 2 hours. Save yourself the hassle and buy from a retailer. At least you won't be charged an arm and a leg to return and get a better system. BEWARE when setting this up they will ask you for no less than 4 passwords and verification numbers. Be sure to note the differences in their names. In one place they ask you to provide a password for a feature they don't even support. Come on! If you don't have the feature, hide it from your customers so they don't have to provide another useless password. Each password is labeled as something different in the support manuals. The email address you set up with the DVR doesn't get passed to the app. Once you figure out which password goes with what, and which verification number goes where, it works OK. For being 2020, one would think Defneder would have invested in better manuals and better user interface to make it easy, but this is the same ugly technology as the old DOS days of 1988. Also, the DVR wouldn't work with my older monitor that accepted an HDMI cable and on my widescreen monitor it stretches the view end to end so it is a distorted view. Get it together Defender.

Just finished installing the complete system last week. The set up was pretty easy, installation wasn't too bad (my house just wasn't made for routing the wiring easily) - it truly is a plug and play system. I'm still learning the controls but so far so good. I would definitely recommend this product. Got a great deal and now I get to keep an eye on my property from all angles.

I bought this system to replace an older different system that stopped working, so i didn't have to run wires this time. All the wire connections were the same from the older system to the new Defender system. I am very impressed with how easy the setup was, even setting up the app on my phone was very easy and stupid proof. The last system I was only able to live view from my phone but this system I can rewind to see what happened the other day. Hands down this is a well worth system. "Love It"

Specs describe the camera at 15 FPS capability. Other systems I was looking at were only 7. Once I was into settings, was disapointed to find that 8 Frames per second was the max that it seems like it can handle. It has a 15 FPS feature, but only in the substream. still a decent quality camera. Instructions for getting the mobile app to properly work were not the best, but tech support walked me through it. Would be nice if one camera came with an audio feed, since the DVR supports it.

Camera system is a very good system. The only issue I personally have is the DVR fan is a little loud for me. My old system was in my living room so I did not want to move all the wires for my new Defender system. The app could be a little better. I have to open twice to get the cameras to refresh.

This system is very good. It has a very clear picture and a very wide view range. If you have a 4K television or monitor it will look great. But it will work with a regular basis monitor. I have had Defender systems for years. I have even installed them for some business. I highly recommend this company and their equipment.

It's too early for me to give a review as I haven't yet got cameras installed. Being it a "wired system" is difficult to say the least, but first had to get the app from Night Owl, and it was not only complicating, but confusing to me as well. We will see in the next few days before I can offer thumbs up, or NOT!!!
