iGen5000Dfc generator is a HIT!

I bought this generator for boondocking with my RV. It is surprisingly light weight but powerful enough to run both air conditioners on my Brinkley RV. I got this generator for an amazing price and have had zero issues with it. It runs all day, day in and day out. Best purchase I have made in a long time.

Exceptional inverter generator with many options.

I was looking for a generator for a long time, one that could back up my house and my small teardrop camper without surging the sensitive electrical components. This unit fits the bill perfectly and can be used for camping, home backup, and construction site use.

Lacks conveniences

I have to jump through hoops to have the generator provide electricity the way I wanted it to function. Unhappy to learn the remote start feature drains the battery when the feature is left on for 12 hours or so. Unhappy to learn I can't leave anything plugged in while doing a remote start. Unhappy to learn I can't leave the eco feature on while starting the generator, Unhappy to learn I can't charge the battery with an external battery charger while it's connected to the generator. Perhaps it's my charger to blame. No info in the operating manual regarding the battery, Somewhat difficult to remove the battery because of space limitations if you have large hands. I complain because I bought the generator to provide heat to my RV when I'm in the remote northern sections of Maine when it's 20 degrees to 20 below zero. To my disappointment, I can't stay in my bed nice and warm to start the generator with the FOB. I will say the generator is quiet and I can't say much more about it because I have run it for less than 10 minutes. It does appear to be well built though.

Didn't start out of the box

Followed start up guide and it wouldn't start. Didn't want to be too invasive as to void the warranty so I called support. Surprisingly I got through quickly. Tried everything they suggested along with items listed in the email they sent to establish a case number Waited 5 days and no return contact so I started snooping around under the service covers with a flashlight and found a disconnected blue wire under the gas tank. Plugged it back together and everything worked just fine. Ran on gas and propane.

Great Firman replacement

Replaced my Firman dual-fuel inverter generator that would not start after just a few uses over 4 years. This has more power, larger fuel tank and easier access to the battery. The low THD will allow me to charge my Bluetti batteries without issue. Very pleased.

Working Great

I purchased the iGen5000DF recently and have run it a couple times already; once as a break-in period, and the second time was during an actual power outage. The power outage only lasted about 4 hours, but it gave me a good idea of how to get the generator hooked up and running to power our refrigerator. I have only run it on propane so far, which is what I intend to do going forward because I'd rather store a few LP cylinders than containers of gasoline. The generator is relatively easy to set up and get running. It runs quietly enough, although not as silent as some of the other online reviews made it seem. It had enough juice to power my fridge and wasn't showing much of a power drain on the display, so I think it will be fine to power all of my essential electrical needs during an extended power outage. There are a few things I think I should mention. Both the Quick Start guide and the User Manual state that you must remove the engine service cover to access the oil dipstick. I think this part of the documentation is outdated because the oil dipstick now has its own access cover on the opposite side of the generator than what is shown in the manuals. With that said, it is still a bit of a tight fit to get your fingers in there and attach the oil funnel. Also both the funnel and the dipstick are plastic and I had to worry about cross-threading and stripping the threads on the plastic, so you have to be careful when attaching the funnel and when screwing the dipstick back into the fill hole. I have not had to do an oil change yet, so I don't know how easy or difficult that will be, but you have to place a pan underneath it to catch the oil and considering how heavy and low to the ground the generator is I think it may be a little challenging. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase and would recommend.

Great features!

Bought this for the last hurricane that came through. We lost power for 4 days and was able to save the items in the refrigerator, run the TV, charge devices, and make coffee! It definitely helped us get through. And love the fact that we could use propane while gas was hard to get!

Great to "Top Off" Solar / Battery Systems

I purchased this inverter generator to supplement two 3600W backup batteries that also take solar power. During this last hurricane, we didn't have enough sunshine to keep the batteries charged. This review is after a 45 minute test. When using propane, this unit charged one at 1680 W input which is close to 50% load for max fuel efficiency. I expect to be able to charge both batteries simultaneously and use the batteries to run items in the house. We would run the generator periodically during the day to recharge them and have them fully charged for overnight use. Startup was easy - except I remember watching setup videos that instruct connecting the battery for first use. I didn't see anything on the first time connection in the manual (I may have missed it.). The remote started the unit in a couple of seconds. It really is quiet for a generator. Our lawnmower is louder than this generator.

Just what I needed for camper

Perfect size for my camper. Small enough and light enough to move around easily. Runs ac great. Super quiet. Running on propane only and works really well n no worries about the carburetor ever needing rebuilt. Oh and the remote start is just awesome. Definitely would recommend it.
