Great Generator

Purchased two of these iGen4500DF generators to parallel and power my 50 amp RV. Got them home, followed the easy to understand directions and fired them both up. I'll have to break them in before paralleling them, but I'm pretty confident they will work out just fine. The remote start/stop is a great feature.

So Far So Good

I just received the iGen4500DF. It looks good, started right up, runs like it should, very quiet as advertised, and produces electricity. Absolutely no complaints other than it kind of sputters on start up more than I would expect. So far completely satisfied. I would give it 5 stars in a follow up review six or so months down the road and it continues to do what it is intended to do.

GREAT BUY

Bought this a month ago not looking forward to power outages from winter storms. Little did I know a simple 20 mph wind would take out power for 1400 people when a limb fell on the power lines. Easy to use, easy to start, maintains 2 fridges and a deep freeze easily on LPG.

iGen4500DF

I ordered this Aug 25 2021 from Lowe's, it came in yesterday Aug 30th. Picked it it up at the store and headed home. I was apprehensive about it because of some of the reviews that were scathing, there always seems to be those regardless of the brand. I was comparing the Champion inverter models with the Westinghouse inverter models. Many many people had problems starting the Champions on propane so I wasn't having warm fuzzies over that. I didn't see that with the Westinghouse reviews and that was a plus but still stuck in my mind. I wanted a duel fuel inverter model which made it a bit more difficult to find and 240vac split phase even harder. The 240v are very limited in manufactures and were cost prohibitive for me. I wanted the 240v to run the well pump, but I decided I would replace the carburetor on my old 1998 Generac 5500xl and use it solely to run the pump when needed. I unboxed it, read the literature and put the oil in it. .6qt of oil came with it and a nozzle that screws into the oil fill hole making it convenient to get the oil into the engine since it is enclosed. Generator was on a flat almost level surface but when I unscrewed the nozzle the oil overflowed. Don't know if there was a bit more oil in the bottle or the engine just doesn't take .6qt of oil. I couldn't find anyplace the listed the amount it requires just that it overflows when filled up. I put it up for the night a storm was starting. Next day I took out again and connected the battery connections inside the battery compartment. No need to take the battery out to connect it, easy with the connectors already installed. I put a little gas in the tank and hooked up the propane also. I thought I might have to start it on gasoline and switch to propane. Thaw Champion reviews stuck in my mind but the Westinghouse can be started on gasoline and switched to propane while running...a big plus. I turned the battery switch on in the front and figured I would try starting on propane first. Selector switch on propane, turned gas on at tank, pushed the start button and it cranked over a for 1-2 seconds and vroom! Started right up! No problem! Went to plug in some battery chargers for hand tools and that was hard at first. The 120v outlets are really tight not loose and sloppy. They loosened up after using a few times. Quality parts (?) I want to think so. Overall I am very pleased with this machine and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends. The 3% THD is better than many, it's a modified sine wave and not a pure sine wave like you would get out of a nice battery backup solar type generator. I would buy this unit again. Hope this is review is helpful.

Easy startup just connect battery cable, add oil

I bought my IGEN5000DFc about a month ago, easy to follow directions manual: connected battery cable, added supplied oil, used extension handle to pull it outside and fired it up on propane easy startup and ran surprisingly quiet and not too heavy for an old man to lift and pull.

Quiet, powerful, clean

I bought this to take camping after renting generators for way too much $$ from the trailer folks that we have been renting trailers from. After doing lots of research on generator types, the difference between inverters and regular generators etc., I decided to purchase this bad boy. It's AWESOME. Our camping companions were jealous of how easily it starts, how much juice it puts out ON DEMAND, and how quiet it is. I ran it on Eco Mode the whole time and never once smelled any exhaust. All the while it clicked on with the push of a button whenever we wanted the AC, microwave, TV, or air compressor.

Everything that I could've hoped for.

After a lot of research over more than a year I settled on this generator. I have been very happy with the purchase so far. It runs smoothly and quietly. It powers more than I expected and adjusts quickly when my RV air conditioner kicks on. I would recommend this generator to anyone.

PERFECT MACHINE

I've long had a VERY NOISY generator to use as home back up. So noisy that immediately after power is restored if I don't turn the generator off immediately i get banged with a list of text requests to Please turn it off from neighbors. The unit arrived on time , no damage. Very easy set up and VERY quite comparatively. Starts very easy and I love the built in battery tender.

Quiet and Efficient

This is generator is pretty good for as small abs quiet as it is. Only reason I didn't give 5-stars is because it requires me to work on it for it to run properly. The automatic chock wires were disconnected right out of the box and it didn't run very well with the factory spark plug. However, once those 2 issues were remedied, it's been great!

Westinghouse igen 4500df

I just received my igen 4500. Quiet, compact and lots of power for its size. I'll be using for my refrigerated trailer rental business. Just did the break in period and used propane. It's a duel fuel so I have options. This is the same generator as the onan one but just a different housing and much cheaper. Quality looks great.
