Most frustrating and useless product I've ever purchased

This roomba worked amazing for the first 6 months. After that, it does every stupid glitchy thing you can think of. Running into the wall over and over again for 45 straight seconds, stopping in the middle of the room and just running in the same exact spot for 45 straight seconds, sending me communication errors that you can't resolve, telling me to empty the bin over and over when it's supposed to be self emptying even when i just manually emptied it, it still says to empty it again and again. Every issue you can be sent, gets sent over and over. You wait FOREVER on the phone to get to a person and they all make you do the same things the person before made you do that doesn't work. They sent out a replacement roomba that does the exact same stuff. The person who helped me was nice but there's something deeply wrong with the program now and this roomba just flat out does not work any more. This is the most expensive piece of poop I've ever purchased and I'm so mad that irobot doesn't do anything to make it right. If you're looking at these before buying, you'll see many people saying what I'm saying. Believe us. This is awful.

I would buy this product again however...

I run my iRobot EVERY day and I love it in general. However I have 5 dogs and it struggles each day with the amount. It bogs down the rubber spinners and leaves long twists of pet hair on the edges of my area rugs. The flip side is iRobot gets under everything, in every corner, and large space areas. I would buy another one but I'd love more power to handle homes that aren't average.

Save your money

We bought this Roomba for Christmas. This is our fourth Roomba. We have had our other Roomba's for several years before buying a replacement. This Roomba stopped working showing error 26 after a few weeks. customer service is sending a new part to replace cleaning head modular. So frustrated!! why should I have to repair a brand new vacuum. They will not send me a new one and take this one back!!

If you have pets, skip this one

I received this vacuum for free in exchange for my honest review so here it is. The iRobot J8+ has some pros and some notable cons. Admittedly, I am comparing against the Shark Matrix, which we're happy with. The pros: self emptying canister, doesn't get "as stuck" as our Shark Matrix. It does a great job of scanning the room and with navigation overall. Irobot seemed a little confused when the lights are off though, unlike our Shark, which does great in the dark. Now for my honest cons: the self-emptying mechanism is LOUD. It sounds like a jet engine taking off every time it finishes a cleaning cycle and empties the bin. Admittedly, my Shark is not self-emptying, so maybe that's normal? As far as cleaning goes, I'm not sure if it's the rollers or what, but it leaves a lot of hair behind (we have a very fluffy cat with sticky undercoat), even on the high-suction setting. This was extremely disappointing so I would tell Roomba to continue developing suction power or look at different rollers perhaps? Our Shark Matrix (even on the normal setting) gets all of the hair in one pass, which is exactly what you'd expect. And honestly, the Shark makes a cuter sound when it's finished too. I have attached pics to demonstrate the cleaning power of both the Roomba iRobot J8+ and the Shark Matrix

Only lasted two months max

Well this was a huge waist of money. I purchased this thing because they IRobot assured me that it would pick up the dog hair with no problem. I have to say at first it was great and with in the last two to three weeks it wasn't cleaning as well and then it just went RED LIGHT. Won't move or do anything. I called customer support and they walk you through taking it apart. Then tell you that it isn't working. Thanks! Called customer support and they are sending out a new robot only. So lets hope it is no the charger or the base at all. Otherwise I will be waiting another week or so. IRobot is good about sending emails with sort of updates. You get the email saying "Thank you for your purchase. Your replacement will be sent out in 4 to 5 days. And that is what you continue to receive. They do give you an order number but their system doesn't recognize it as of yet. TBD!

Too loud, bad mapping, bad pathing.

Daily clean 1st floor. Mostly hardwood, some carpet. Insanely loud on hard wood. As someone who works from home, I can't stand it. If it ran when I wasn't home it might be OK, but most days I'm home and it's so much louder than our canister vacuum that I'd rather haul it downstairs to vacuum than letting this thing run when anyone is home. If I run it in the middle of the night, it does poorly with low lighting and wakes up everyone by emptying with its jet engine level auto empty feature. Interesting concept, but not worth sacrificing my ears for 3-4 hours while it tries to make its way around. Looking for an alternative option at this point. Only nice thing is the part replacement service so we don't run out or bags or roller. The vacuum itself is average or below average.

It's okay

For how much was spent on this item I thought it would be great. Honestly the cheap shark vaccum i had before this did just as good. This vaccum is always missing piles of dog hair on the floor. I have to run several times a day and still don't think it gets everywhere. Really just not impressed.

A huge improvement from the 900 series

I've owned the 900 series for several years. As noisy as it was, I still love it. Since separating from my EX, I decided to upgrade to this new version, and I love that it extremely quiet. However, when it docks and self-cleans. It sounds like a jet engine is going through the apartment for a few seconds. I'm always worried that the neighbor downstairs will come knock on my door wondering what is that noise she hears a few times a week. I moved from a house to an apartment, so you know how that feels sometimes. Other than that, I look forward to buying a much advance Roomba that I hope is a lot quieter when emptying the Roomba in a few years. Still one of the best inventions of our lifetime. Saves so much time in clean regardless of if you have pets or not.

Awesome machine!

This I'd my third Roomba. Unfortunately two were stolen from a mover. I got the one that self empties and it's great. It's very loud when emptying but it's only for a few seconds so I can live with it. My neighbor downstairs might not like it but oh well. This machine has a lot of suction and does a great job with cat hair from three cats! I set it to clean automatically twice a week and go on with other things. Well worth the money!

Very glitchy and takes rebooting a LOT, do not recommend!

When it works it is great. The sensors are very finicky and will always say it has some sort of malfunction. I have to reboot and restart sometimes twice a week. The brushes are always getting tangled and have to be cleaned out almost very use. Dust will get on the sensor and then say it needs fixed when really it just needs wiped off (like almost every use).
