Wanted to update my review!

STILL TERRIBLE. We've had this vacuum for just about a year now. Started experiencing issues with it about a month in, contacted customer care and they would not refund us. All they did was send us brush replacements and told me that was the issue. No, that did not solve the issues. Constantly having to unplug it and factory reset to get it to work again. I posted a review on this site about two months ago and Irobot reached out to me and offered to send us a brand new vacuum which I thought was nice. We get the new vacuum, get all set up and less than a week later we are having the same exact issues as we were having with the old vacuum. This vacuum is garbage. not worth $800

Absolutely disappointed!

Bought a J7. Was working fine for 2 months, and all of a sudden, it was useless with error 26. Recieved a replacement cleaning head module, it worked twice, and now, getting error 30. Waiting for another replacement cleaning head module. Wish I new I'd be having problems before wasting money on this product.

Dissatisfied

I bought the J7+ for two main reasons, the self-empty feature and that it received relatively high scores online for cleaning carpets. The self-empty feature is mostly good. The only problem I've had is that it will occasionally say the bag is full when it's only about half full. This requires that I remove the bag, jiggle it around a little, and put it back. Not the end of the world, but annoying. The carpet cleaning isn't great, especially with pet hair. I have a cat and run this vacuum every day. Unfortunately, the design of the vacuum's brush is such that it clumps up the hair and then leaves random hairballs as it goes. So, rather than picking up all the hair, I get a trail of hairballs throughout the cleaning zone. Moreover, the bush's design allows for hair to get stuck in the "axle" part of the brush. About 50% way through the life of the brush, I get warnings that the brush is stuck and that I need to clear the obstruction. Each time, it requires me to remove the two brushes and pull hair that's been wrapped around on the underside, where the oddly large "axel" area is located. Basically, it's not great for the main two reasons I bought it. Moreover, the battery life is laughable. This is exasperated by the fact that the navigation is absolutely awful. I own a couple of "off brand" robot vacuums that cost half the price, but they have far superior battery and navigation logic compared to the J7+. My final annoyance with the robot is that it doesn't allow the user to monitor precisely where it is during a job, or where it left off when it inevitably goes back to the dock for one of its many charging breaks. Again, I have much cheaper vacuums that are much more precise and allow for the user to check its location and/or completed areas. One positive thing I can say is that the smart obstacle avoidance is pretty good when it comes to cords, shoes, socks, etc. Still slams into walls and furniture at full speed. Not good.

Not certain

I love how quiet the robot is, but for the price I would expect that it would do better with cat hair. It leaves rolls of cat hair on my low pile rug, while my Wyze Vacuum picks up everything for less than half the price. I do love the auto empty function, but the mapping still needs lots of work. Even with all the lights on the robot hits every wall, every object, but it does avoid toys and cords (for this I am very grateful.

Awesome machine!

This I'd my third Roomba. Unfortunately two were stolen from a mover. I got the one that self empties and it's great. It's very loud when emptying but it's only for a few seconds so I can live with it. My neighbor downstairs might not like it but oh well. This machine has a lot of suction and does a great job with cat hair from three cats! I set it to clean automatically twice a week and go on with other things. Well worth the money!

So much quieter than the 980 we upgraded from

We purchased a roomba 980 in 2016 but we couldn't use it on a regular basis because I work days and my husband works nights and it was incredibly loud. We could only stand to run it when nobody was home. We purchased the j7+ today and are so happy with how quiet it is. We will now be able to run this daily even if one of us is sleeping. So excited that my floors will be free of cat hair every day!

I would buy it again on repeat

I love "Stella" - the name of my iRobot. I love that I can clean even when I'm not home. She does an excellent job on my hard floors. The only downside is on my carpet. We have a corgi and she's a major shedder- Stella picks up a lot but doesn't get it all. On the hard floors however- excellent!

Two months in and I'm still not sure if this is a good idea

Our robot is constantly getting stuck on power cords, trapped in corners, and similar faults. We have two dogs that shed and our j7 gets clogged up a lot. Mostly it's the wheels that get clogged up. This causes tracking and emptying issues. It does not seem to recognize dogs and thier movements interfere a lot as it overreacts to them (trying to go around them). Door mats/rugs are not recognized and the vac can get snagged or stuck. Same is true with bathroom mats/rugs.

It doesn't do what us supposed to do

I bought this product a few years ago. I bought this specifically because it was supposed to avoid "obstacles" and pet messes. It never has avoided the messes. It goes through it causing me more cleaning than need be. I had moved recently making my elder cat bot use her box, and at least once a week, I have to thoroughly clean the robot and shampoo the carpets and clean the floors throughout the house since I don't notice until I get home after work. This is my my replacement since it has done it before to a point of not charging or running. The feces gets stuck in the tires which are impossible to clean. So it smells like literal crap every time it runs. I do the maintenance and change everything as I should, but it's higher maintenance than doing it the old way. Avoid this contraption if you are intrigued because it avoids messes.

The best robot vacuum out there!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The roomba has honestly been a godsend for my household. I have three cats, two toddlers and a messy husband, so my floors are basically always dirty. I'm also 7 months pregnant so the idea of getting the vacuum out and vacuuming everyday is not ideal. I don't know how I lived without this for so long! First of all, it was EXTREMELY easy to set up. I'm not super tech-savvy and even I could figure it out. The app is very user friendly and I love that it shows a map of the house and even specifies carpet from hard floors and shows really dirty areas. Once it learned the floor plan, I was able to box off areas that I want it to avoid (specifically, the cat food/water and a squishy anti-fatigue mat I have in front of my sink). I love that the roomba self empties into the canister (and that thing holds A LOT). It also stores an extra bag in the top so you always have one on hand! I currently have the roomba on a schedule to vacuum the entire first floor every night at 1 am after we're all asleep and it's so nice waking up to a freshly vacuumed floor. I'm also able to specify exactly which room I'd like it to vacuum at any given time. As I mentioned, I have three cats and unfortunately they're old and vomit a lot and of course that tends to happen during the night when the roomba cleans. This roomba is so smart is literally doesn't run over the vomit! Somehow this roomba knows to steer around it! (It actually has a camera that helps it avoid cords, vomit, etc. It's amazing!!). I absolutely love this roomba so much (we named it Roombie lol). It's nice to look at too, definitely not an eyesore like others out there! I can't recommend it enough!!
