I received this vacuum for free in exchange for my honest review so here it is. The iRobot J8+ has some pros and some notable cons. Admittedly, I am comparing against the Shark Matrix, which we're happy with. The pros: self emptying canister, doesn't get "as stuck" as our Shark Matrix. It does a great job of scanning the room and with navigation overall. Irobot seemed a little confused when the lights are off though, unlike our Shark, which does great in the dark. Now for my honest cons: the self-emptying mechanism is LOUD. It sounds like a jet engine taking off every time it finishes a cleaning cycle and empties the bin. Admittedly, my Shark is not self-emptying, so maybe that's normal? As far as cleaning goes, I'm not sure if it's the rollers or what, but it leaves a lot of hair behind (we have a very fluffy cat with sticky undercoat), even on the high-suction setting. This was extremely disappointing so I would tell Roomba to continue developing suction power or look at different rollers perhaps? Our Shark Matrix (even on the normal setting) gets all of the hair in one pass, which is exactly what you'd expect. And honestly, the Shark makes a cuter sound when it's finished too. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have tried other robot vacuums in the past, but was always frustrated with getting the robot to clean the areas that needed cleaning. This robot fixes that issue, I am able to create a map of my house and ask the robot to clean very specific areas or rooms. When the robot detects an obstacle, it sends me a picture and I can determine if it's truly an obstacle.

I received this for Christmas last year so I've had it almost 1 yr. It works very well and I love the app so I can send it wherever it is needed. It navigates obstacles very well and does pretty good in the corners. My only complaint is the connection. It seems I do have to power it on/off and or reboot my router about every 3rd time I use it because it will not connect. However, once it does, I love it.

We have a pretty busy household with multiple pets and it's very easy to schedule it to clean with our phone between the chaos. The room mapping is an excellent feature and makes it so much easier allowing me to send it to a particular room when it needs more attention. I've tried other brands of robot vacuums and this one by far is superior in every way. It has helped me gain more time not having to do a daily vacuum. I'm amazed at how much pet hair it cleans up and how well it does on our multiple surface types. I also love that it doesn't get stuck and is able to go around obstacles. The only cons that I've experienced is the size of the debris bin and that it doesn't like going over one of my bigger/thicker rugs. But, emptying the bin is pretty easy and it was able to map around my rug to clean around it. Overall, It's a great device and I would definitely purchase for what it is able to do and help with. I would recommend this to anyone with a busy household looking to save on cleaning time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Vacuums like a dream! Just download the App from the App Store and the Robot is off running doing its thing. Cleaning is not so much of o big chore anymore since I bought the new IRobot Roomba j9+. This little robot takes is very simple to setup, first download the IRobot home App follow the simple setup instructions connecting it to your home net work. Then set up a mapping of the entire house ( will take 90 minutes or so) then set up a schedule within the App. Once all that is done it’s off working for you. The home docking station is where it will charge and empty its container of dirt from vacuuming the floor. The Robot is pretty quiet while it is running its coarse, but while it is docked and cleaning out the dirt it has collected into the filter inside the docking station it gets pretty loud. The bottom has two rubber wheels that grip really well on carpet or tile and has sensor and cameras that detect objects. Overall it’s a really great vacuum and cuts my cleaning time in half.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This vacuum works better than I had imagined. For such a small machine, it picked up a lot of dust and debris. It rolls around from place to place, avoiding obstacles and did not roll down the stairs. It has a light and little "feelers" that keep it from going where it shouldn't go. It even went under the bed and came back out without my having to intervene. It didn't tangle with my electric cords either. All controlled from my phone app too! I love this product.

It worked great for the first month. After that, it stopped charging. I have cleaned all of the sensors the way described in the owners manual. I've moved the charging base to different outlets, checked all the power cables. It just won't charge, I can't reboot it because the battery is completely dead. I've tried positioning it on the charging base myself and nothing works.

Superior mapping of floors and the layout of rooms, equipped with a bright light and camera to be able to avoid obstacles and vacuum even in darkness, and paired with a comprehensive app that's easy to use and lets you customize your cleaning routine, this self-emptying robot vacuum is an essential appliance in my home I don't want to miss anymore. Admittedly, I was skeptical at first, but the j9+ Roomba has quickly and undeniably become my favorite cleaning tool. It truly is so helpful and takes so much time and work off of my hands, especially as parent with a newborn in the home. No more asking my teenagers for help and being left with less than desirable results. This j9+ robot vacuum cleans exceptionally well, removing even finest dust and hair, leaving floors looking and feeling clean. Equipped with a HEPA filter that filters out the finest dust particles and animal dander, strong textured rubber rolls to actively grab and pick up everything, and a self-emptying feature that deposits all dirt and dust into a disposable bag that self-closes when removed from the base. Of course there are some things that could be improved, too. I have encountered a couple of minor issues with this j9+ Roomba, one of which is that he doesn't clean around its own charging base, he also isn't able to reach under the front of our kitchen cabinets, and he cannot fit through our dining chairs' legs so I have to put the chairs up in order for the j9+ to vacuum under the kitchen table. Sometimes he randomly leaves the base on his own, he once got lost and couldn't find his way back after completing the task, and he once got stuck on top of the circular bases of two of our kitchen counter chairs, which was honestly quite funny to watch before we came to his rescue. Overall, the j9+ is excellent. My floors haven't felt this clean in a long time! I highly recommend it!

I use the j7 in combination with a Brava Jet m6. They have done a fantastic job. The j7 just works the way it supposed to. The mapping feature allows it to efficiently vacuum any space. No more random bumping around. It's nice to program the whole house or just individual rooms and it just does what it's told to do. And it does it well. While it's not absolutely perfect it has saved many hours of manual labor and in the end my home is probably cleaner than it would have been if I was doing all the vacuuming. The only real problem I've had is it twice completely lost all scheduled programs. It only took a few minutes to recreate the programs but even contacting iRobot produced no reason as to why the programs were lost. It will get tangled on shoelaces in a heartbeat. It doesn't get completely into every last nook and cranny and of course it doesn't do baseboards, so every few months I still have to follow up with a regular vacuum. Overall though I'd say it gets just about 99% percent of the house vacuumed very well. I only have a few items on my wishlist to make it better. 1. Quit constantly asking me about clean zone suggestions. If I want a clean zone, I'll create it myself. 2. Let me quickly select a room for vacuuming without setting up a favorite. Just give me a simple list of rooms and let me select one to vacuum right now. I don't want a lengthy list of favorites for every conceivable room combination. 3. Give me a way to delay or pause a scheduled cleaning without cancelling the cleaning altogether. 4. Let me select the order of rooms to be vacuumed. The order is currently random and is never the same. At least let me first select the rooms that will be mopped so that the Brava jet can go ahead and do its job. As it is, on the days that the whole house is vacuumed and just the kitchen is mopped, the kitchen must sit prepped half the day waiting the the vacuum to completely finish its entire schedule.

First off the design is very compact and attractive. I love the silver top and matte black finish. It's super easy to keep it clean. The navigation is very impressive. Most of my debris is picked up after each run but on some runs it does miss spots. Not as loud as an upright so you can run it when you're home. Easy to maintain and clean. My only issues have been software related. I had to create a new map because the only got corrupted when it kept updating it after each run. It will randomly reboot and some times it freezes. Even with these issues it's saves me hours of my time and keeps the dust and dirt at bay.
