I expected a fine PRIME ANGUS flavorful filet mignon. What I got was gristly, tough and disgusting piece of meat that I would not have paid $2 for let alone the almost $30 a pound meat I received. I expected much better and would NOT ever buy filets from Sams again. I was not only disappointed but disgusted with the quality. It's back to Trader Joes I go.

Went to Sam’s, to buy a few things, had company coming for Labor Day weekend, decided to cook steaks for 4 of us, so I purchased 2 packages, upon opening them and looking at them they didn’t look or smell just right , so I figured, don’t serve them, as I had not save receipts, so got rid of them, threw them out… that’s what I can tell you, I’m not complaining, just a feedback!

I have purchased these several times and they have turned out well. My wife says no need to go to high class steak house when i grill them. Sear both sides, brush butter on each side and grind salt and pepper on them. Flip around 8 min and keep the butter going. Use a meat thermometer to get these around 150-155 for a nice medium. Enjoy!

Most of the meat is very good for filet mignon; however, the pieces are not cut evenly. If you are looking for 1 per person, then one of your guests might be disappointed. One piece of our meat had a lot of gristle, like a scrap piece. You might want to call ahead to request evenly cut meats if you’re doing outside pick-up.

Too much fat. A filet should not have any fat

Great cut, nice fat amount, about 1” thick.

Sizes are totally unpredictable. Two tiny ones, one large, one extra large.

These steaks could be cleaned up a little, the butcher often leaves the silver skin on them

These are our go to steaks. Have never been disappointed

Sam’s meat is good, but it’s still very high priced!
