Easy to use, stylish to wear.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Samsung Gear S3 Classic before Christmas and replaced my year old premium smartwatch with it. I had a lot of love for the old watch and wasn't expecting the Gear S3 to change that but I was so wrong! I instantly loved how the Samsung looked and felt on the wrist, it really is a quality piece of kit. The screen is gorgeous and the software is so easy to use that it becomes intuitive very quickly. The only negative I have was my own causing because I dropped and broke my phone so I had to use something basic that wasn't compatible with the watch whilst my phone was away for repair. I switched back to my old watch for a week and realised just how much I missed the Gear S3. Once I got my own phone back I was happily using the Gear S3 Classic again and can't see myself replacing it for a long time! I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves wearing a watch that wants something intelligent and modern.

Great Watch...Ruined by the app selection.

The watch itself is everything I could want in a watch. Love the rotating bezel, speaker, and design. The down side is the selection and function of apps. Only the few apps by Samsung seem to work properly. All others I try that have the features I want such as weather and related info on a watch face don't work. They don't update like they should. The only music app is Spotify...Really.?! The play store has so many good apps I used with my Moto 360 I really miss it. I like Android products for the options they provide but this feels very limited with the tizen os instead of Android wear.

prelim assessment (phone: 1+3)

overall, I like the watch, however, there are still some bugs and compatibility issues and less than intuitive features to overcome with this smartwatch. I'll try and summize it as a pro and con list for anyone interested in this device and wants a users perspective. readers beware, some cons may be due to my inability to find a solution (yet) as I've only had it for a week. Pro: voice recognition works well. good design - i love the wheel on the face to rotate through your "apps". there is an array of custom bands as well for those of you who are dissatisfied with the stock bands, as i was (the lack of band selection for other smart watches was a factor in my decision as style is as important as functionality for a watch wearer). app selection seems good but I can't compare it to the AW2 store or others. keeps time well the alarm is great! vibration and beeps right on your wrist wake me without a hitch. snooze could be longer...I try not to snooze though. Con: the voice reader changes the way you interact with the touch screen making it difficult to disable. using voice commands to disable it only disabled the auto voice detection, not the reader. my phone uses ok google! in contrast to "hi gear" I knew this getting the watch but it is still a con for me to not be able to access the full array of voice commands through my watch and to my phone. (still looking for a solution to a more fluid voice control system). SMS - I can't send sms via "hi gear" commands. I'm still looking for a solution to this as well. (this discovery actually irritates me a bit) - the only solution i have as of now is to add the contact to the watch or your contacts list, go to their name, tap the message icon and you can use the mic icon at that point...but you can't straight voice command to it. bug? using discord app (chat group app) on my phone with headphones plugged in glitches it out completely, for starters the mic will continuously change its input source every half second making audio indistinguishable. but not only does it do that, it seems to flash a contact (usually most recent or top of the list - whoever's name starts with an A) onto the screen. it makes me concerned it will call someone without my desire from a bug of this nature. I'm unsure if this should be fixed on discords app side or the gears OS but it is definitely something that needs to be looked at. my temporary solution to this is to turn the watch off and charge it when using discord. I havn't tried other chat related apps. I'd like to think my con listed about the voice reader is a bug, but it actually says it changes the way it functions when activated.. I fully expect to discover more bugs as i get more active with its functionality - but other thoughts: the battery life could last longer, perhaps i could adjust settings further, but nearly stock with basic setup complete it seems like the charge will only last 2-3 days. (right now at 37% i have 21 hrs remaining) typically the input/output will come out on w/e device i respond to. don't forget to get a samsung account if you don't have one for the app store...thats basically how/why i'm writing this review.

Best Smartwatch so far

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a very well finished device, with a metal frame covering the 1.3 screen and holding the two prominent buttons on the side, which function as the Home / Apps and Back keys. The 1.3-inch Super AMOLED screen on the Samsung Gear S3 is, unsurprisingly, one of the best on the market. Samsung has had a long history of making brilliant screens for its phones, and using that same technology here means you've got a clear and bright screen. That said, when it is turned on, the Gear S3 has a beautifully bright and vivid screen. The Classic opts for premium materials like metal and leather, easily making it one of the best-looking smartwatches out there for Android and Apples fan. The Samsung Gear S3 is probably one of the best-looking smartwatches out on the market right now and for those looking for something a bit more sporty you can find on the frontier model The only drawback to the Gear S3 is that it does not come in different sizes, so those with smaller wrists like me might feel a bit intimidated.

So far soo good

Merry Xmas to me :) The band that comes with it is very stiff, so I do recommend changing it. I have not found a good tutorial on how the watch & S health do things (waking up after sleep, walking,etc..) I also wish that some watch faces explain what they are doing, with the additional things on the face. I like it but I keep wanting to play with it, is that bad? :)

Was great, now awful!

Bought it so that I'd never miss a job opportunity. Was really awesome until all the updates. Now my battery life went from about 3 days to 1. By the end of day 1, I'd have about 28%. Then the worst is that I couldn't see who was calling, couldn't wake my watch when a text came in, and delayed response when using touch screen after I finally get it to wake up. I would recommend this watch for aesthetics some functionality but only if you're not dependent on receiving and replying to calls and texts. It has become frustrating. Will add a video shortly. Just took off charger and NOW it's responding, but just wait. It will start delaying, otherwise I would not have wasted my time writing this.

So many functions in such a little space

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Gear S3 is by far one of the most advanced and classy looking smart watches out there. This smart watch pretty much has everything and with an option for 4G LTE I can’t imagine much more being offered. I have had the Samsung Gear S2 Classic and the Samsung Gear Fit2. I really like the “normal” watch style of the S line, but both watches just didn’t meet my expectations. Now that I have the Gear S3 Frontier, I can say that they have finally hit everything I was looking for. Just starting off as a watch, it is a bit big and may be for some, but looks like a typical rugged style watch. The watch faces on it are amazing and some go as far as to mimic the light reflection as if they had a real reflective background. The clarity and finite details even give some of them a 3D appearance. From analog to digital with individual stylizations, there are so many watch face styles that you could have a different one every day if you choose to. There is also an “always on” feature that prevents you from having to flick your wrist to see the time, a complaint I had with the S2, however, it reduces time between charges significantly. With the band being interchangeable with any 22-mm band, the design choices are limitless. As a fitness tracker, the Gear S3 has everything you expect, plus more. It tracks steps, floors climbed and automatic heart rate tracking with decent accuracy. It will pick up exercise events automatically if continued for at least 10 minutes, however, if you want full GPS tracking you will need to manually start the exercise event. When manually started and using S-Health you get added results, such as highest and lowest elevation for total ascent/descent using the included altimeter, and average/max heart rate. You also get a Google map display of your event which can be exported to a GPX file. The Gear S3 can keep track of all of this information without the phone being present during the workout. As an added bonus, the watch has internal storage so you can play music directly from the watch, through the built in speaker or Bluetooth headphones, or control the music on your phone. For smart watch capability you get the typical notifications and alerts from your phone, which you can change in the Samsung Gear app. You can reply and send text messages by using standard preset short replies, emoticons, by writing text by hand, using an old style alphanumeric keypad, or use the microphone to record a message or use speech-to-text. Don’t want to text? You can answer and place calls directly from the watch, with surprising clarity. You can use your contacts or a keypad to enter a fresh number without ever pulling out your phone. As for controlling the watch, I still love the rotating bezel compared to some other smart watches using the small crown. My fingers feel like I’m trying to use two sausages to pick up a pin when messing with small dials and such. Sometimes even using the screen is cumbersome as my finger can cover half the screen or a slight bump leads to clicking on a wrong reply. My favorite feature with the watch has been the amazement that I get from people when I use my watch with Samsung Pay to make a payment. It typically starts out with their hand out awaiting a credit card. Then I tell them I’m going to pay using my watch and their response is usually “Oh our system is old, we don’t do that yet” as they hear the beep of the transaction being completed. That is when the questions start to kick in, even from people behind me in line. Besides ATM machines and gas pumps, it has worked on pretty much everything else. If at first it does not succeed, have them change the transaction from credit to debit or vice versa. You can even make up to four transactions without your phone being nearby, making this even better when out on a workout. To wrap up with a few odds and ends, I like how the bezel is above the glass. I have only had mine a few weeks and already bumped it against several hard objects. There are marks on the bezel, but nothing with the glass. I just bought some lens covers to be sure that this will not be an issue. The default watch band is rubber, therefore it stretches and at times feels like it is pinching my arm, as a rubber band would. If I loosen it too much, because I use Samsung Pay, the screen will lock and requires a 4 digit pin to be entered. A feature I am grateful for, but a bit of an annoyance when I find it locked when a notification comes in, so I keep the watch tight. The battery life has lasted on average 3 days, with the “Always On” feature turned off. I like to wear mine at night as well, to provide sleep tracking, so I charge it during times of inactivity, like at my work desk or in the evening while watching TV, and it is fully charged in about 2 and a half hours. The altimeter and barometer are an interesting feature, and I am sure for some it will prove useful, but so far all I have noticed is that I have to recalibrate the altimeter every few days as it has been over 600ft off after a few days and the weather has not been severe enough to really change the barometer reading. In conclusion, I have thoroughly enjoyed my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and look forward to using it more as the season of outdoor activities starts to roll in. With so much to offer in a typical elegant looking watch, it is hard to believe what they will improve on it anytime soon. If you are looking to take the step into the world of using a smart watch, but don’t want a device that looks like a small phone on your wrist, and provides more features than any other watch, this is the one for you. If you are looking for an upgrade from any other smart watch, you don’t have to look any further.

Great Watch

I am very impressed with the features of this watch. I have owned the Gear Neo 2 and this model is light years ahead in terms of features, performance, looks etc! Everything about this watch is a "10!" It no longer looks like an electronic watch until you scroll through the menus. It is as the name implies, a classic-classy watch!

Easily Integrates with Everyday Life

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to begin using the Samsung Gear S3 Classic once it arrived. Setup was very easy and everything necessary was included in the box (sans smartphone, of course). I actually left the US to travel abroad the day after I got my hands on the watch and it has come in great handy here in Europe. I was able to download a converter app that allows me to easily convert foreign currency values to USD, metric measurements to imperial, and other such things. I am definitely glad that I have it. Now let's get into the pros and cons: Pros: • Sleek design • Easy-to-navigate interface • Great integration with smartphone • Very precise touch screen (I almost always am able to tap the correct icon if there are a lot in a small space) • Lots of customization options • Great battery life (I can go 3-4 days without charging mine) • Wireless charging stand is included • Many additional apps can be installed Cons: • The watch strap is a little stiff and has some slight creases at the holes I typically secure it on. • The rotating bevel could "click" into place better (I often find myself having to spin the bevel the opposite way because it spins so easily and I pass the option I was trying to get to) • There are "home" and "back" buttons but no "select" button so if you want to select an option you have to tap the icon on the screen. So even though the bevel can rotate to indicate a specific icon on the apps screen, you can't select that icon with a button; you have to tap it, which seems a little redundant because you could just tap the icon from the start without rotating the bevel to indicate it. • The S Health app sends me "keep up the good work" and "that was a nice walk" notifications on the watch during and after walking somewhere as "encouragement" but honestly it's kind of annoying and I've disabled all of the health nudges in the app but it hasn't stopped these notifications.

Samsung gear s3 stainless steel

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The gear s3 from Samsung is a breath of fresh air. In a sea of generally awful android wear smart watches Samsung has indeed shown us how it should be done. From it's brilliantly crafted body and excellent weight and feel, to its intuitive rotating bezel, the gear s3 represents a best in class smart watch but also an amazing timepiece. It's great to use plus functionality and features are all top notch, it does all you generally want from a smart watch, the only downfall is the lack of applications available. I would easily recommend this to any android user. Although the gear s3 is now compatible with iOS its functionality is somewhat limited at this time, however it does still provide a great experience delivering notifications and phone calls in a reliable way. Well done Samsung!.
