Great! But i have some knit-picky issues to point

Everything about this android wear is great. My only major gripe is that from factory i cannot change ringtones and notifications into custom tones, it's a major let down and a disappointment to give us something with this much customization and not allow us to change the ringtones and notification tones to whatever we want out of the box. It's like cake without the icing. Another thing that did bother me is that being a very active text messenger and having over 60,000 text messages, the stock messaging app for my S7 Edge(Exynos) tends to run VERY slow and freezes too often. If there was more variability I'd love to have full support for more SMS apps like Textra. Which i know can be difficult and dependent on third party devs. Last thing i want to point out that there can be room for improvement, S-Voice... It's hit or miss. Mostly miss. I can say a sentence as clear as day and it wouldn't recognize my voice nor make out anything that i say, and many times in these occasions i have very little to no background noise to interfere. I would have honestly love to have a dumbed down version of google assistant over S Voice, even if it means trading off a little bit of battery life. or at least have it as a standalone app. We pay a good amount for these watches. I'd expect more from S voice. If there was anything I'd like to add despite its downs, its the ability to short cut applications or tasks onto multi-press shortcuts like removing samsung pay off of long-press back button into another application etc.

Excelent device with very few compromises

Feature most dragging my attention was the possibility to pick up calls and speak trough watch, without taking out phone hidden deep in winter clothes pocket. It looks great and the build quality is high. The two subjective flaws in my eyes are 1.its big size, 2.not suitable for swimming. But I bet, the next generation will solve even this :)

Take my money!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the moment I received the email saying I was in I was so excited, and after paying the invoice couldn't wait for it to arrive. On the day of delivery I arrived home from work to find the package on the table. on opening it I was so impressed by the look and feel of the watch. the build quality is amazing and it is a smart watch that actually looks smart. It comes with a wireless charger which when you place the watch onto it, it snaps into place magnetically and commences charging. I normally find that it needs charging every third night with normal use. I've never owned a smart watch before but always wanted 1 and never knew which to go for. I've had my mind made up for me from the second I opened that box. The Gear S3 is packed with features, a step counter keeps track of my movements and you can set targets. It even tells me to get moving if I've been setting down for too long! it has a heartrate monitor which takes my heartrate at 10 minute intervals and it all uploads to my phone automatically. It has voice recognition which lets me set alarms, reminders etc. The Gear S3 is always connected to my phone via Bluetooth which is very useful for me as I start work very early and my phone is always needing a charge in the early evening, I can take it upstairs to charge and still have full use of text messages, WhatsApp messaging and calls via the watch which is great. I can carry my phone with me at all times on silent and the watch just vibrates to notify me and a flick of the wrist lights up the screen to display the latest notification, I set the screen to be off unless I lift it up to look at it, you can choose screen always on but that will reduce the battery time massively. 1 of my favourite features is the Spotify app which is great, you can play tracks on the watch itself using the built in speaker, connect Bluetooth headphones to the watch to listen, listen via your phone and control it via the watch, turning the bezel to change tracks or listen via Bluetooth speaker attached to the phone. Lastly a feature that I found last week is the ability to change tracks that are playing over a certain wifi enabled speaker that was released towards the end of last year. I have had many comments about how smart the watch looks from people who don't even know what a smart watch is. To that end I will be deciding to keep the watch, I couldn't live without it now and would never go back to a normal watch again. Many thanks to theinsiders and Samsung!

Piece of Junk. Big rip off. Buyer beware.

The Watch looks nice but it is not worth the price. You need a Samsung phone to buy any apps for it. So you are stuck with the default apps unless you own a Samsung phone. Which would not be bad if the watch had apps like a stop watch. A timer, but it doesn't. The phone heats up your hand if you use it for too long. So keep the screen off. You really can't customize it that much. But hey I was told I need a samsung phone to unlock all the features of the watch so good for you if you have a samsung phone.

Great buy

Great value for your money. The only reason I gave it four stars out of five is because of the battery life and durability. I have since purchased a tough case that makes the watch much more durable but it is also bulky and sometimes uncomfortable. My only advice is to charge the watch every night. But in all great watch and cool features.

Great Smartwatch

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very impressed with this Smartwatch the first time i got it out of the box. The way everything has been designed shows the effort that was put into producing it. It feels premium and appears elegant on the wrist. It has a wide range of features and i have found the health features very useful. Being able to take your heart rate and track all of your movements as you are living your everyday life is very useful. There are also additional apps that can be installed including games, video apps and other useful productivity apps. Unfortunately the payment functionality is not compatible in the UK at the moment. When this is released it will add to the functionality of this device and make it more usable in everyday life. These add to the experience, overall i would recommend this watch to anyone that wants one in the future. I just think to improve it in the future more apps need to be added to the store.

BIG, but Big on Well Worth it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all I have not worn a watch on my arm for over a decade, so I thought it may be a little strange to have on again. I was right! Very strange. For the first few days I definitely felt the weight of it and thought it was a little annoying, but figured i will eventually get used to it. It only took most of the week to not even realize it was on my wrist (except for the best part of the device, the sounds and vibrations of the notifications and phone calls). I was very skeptical when deciding to try this monster out, and so far I have been very pleased. I didn't think I cared to get my notifications on my wrist when I get them on my phone. Boy was I wrong. It is SO much nicer just to glance down at my wrist than to dig my phone out of my pocket just to check. Welcome to the Future! The battery on it lasts an amazing amount of time. I can go into the 4th day of use before I have to charge it again, thanks to its huge battery. However I noticed that one of my 3rd party watch face apps would drain the battery twice as fast. So watch (pun intended) what you load on to see if that is affecting the battery life. Besides the battery the best reason to change from the Gear S2, or any other watch for that matter, is the option for the magnetic blast for Samsung Pay. This allows it to work on so many more credit card terminals than NFC alone. But expect some strange looks from cashiers as you use the watch, whether it works or not. But man is it handy.

What's good and what needs some work

Good: -It's a bigger watch that can be seen as more masculine -the bezzle in addition to the touch screen makes it easy to navigate -S health tracker tracks sleep, steps, floors, heartrate and more Needs work: -App selection -heart rate during the, "Basic Workout" doesn't display your heart rate in real time as if you were doing, say the "Step Machine" -I believe samsung needs more algorithms to help the accuracy of the heart rate feature. I wish Samsung would have a chest strap option for the Gear to have a more accurate hear rate reading -it seems that Samsung's voice to text on the Gear isnt as good as the voice to text on my phone

Very Disappointing

I am a vivid Samsung fan, I have their TVs, Galaxy Note, ear pods etc. I bought the frontier a little a couple of years ago and right after warranty expired conveniently the home button does not function properly anymore. Unfortunately the only way around it is to press together both home and back button to try and have functions that the home button would originally show. Very disappointing.

Go Go Gear S3

The Gear S3 is truly the next generation in Smart Watches, combining the simplicity of an analog watch with the complexity of a smart watch/fitness tracker in one easy to use little device. I already use the Gear S2 as my daily driver so I was interested to see the improvements that Samsung has made with this new iteration. I have been using the watch, I guess you can call it a watch but it feels more like an extension of what is always in my pocket or near me. I’ll call it a watch for simplicity. Over the month, I’ve been using it, putting it through its paces and trying out the different features it has done a lot to impress me. My journey has not been without its bumps but they have been minimal, I have had a lot of “wow that’s cool” moments and it’s always nice to experience the tech envy from friends. There has been some discussion about the size and although it is large for some, for me as a bigger guy it fits well. It has a nice weight to it which lets you know you wearing something of quality and you notice when it’s not there. The size offers many improvements over the S2, the larger screen on the S3 offers an easy to navigate interface. I mistyped my code on the smaller screen of the S2 but the S3 minimizes that. It also makes reading my notifications much easier, as I have gotten older my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be so every little bit counts. The new bezel design keeps my fingers from slipping even when they are dried out or sweaty. On the S2 this was a pain point for me and I often had difficulty spinning the smooth dial. With the rigid edge design on the S3 you can rotate it without slippage. There are a ton of different watch face options unlike other devices, I personally like the stock one out of the box. The chronograph/tachymeter that is built into the stock face has come in handy for many different applications and its right on the home screen. The chronograph also classes up the watch to give it less of a digital feel and more of an old-school appeal that I find in analog watches. The screen is as tough as a Gorilla, for those of you that don’t get the analogy (no Sapphire here). I have bumped it into a ton of stuff and not had a scratch. Some of these bumps had a real pucker effect but every time I look to assess the damage, there was nothing to be found. There was one small issue I did notice on the screen when I was changing the watch faces. Mine has a dead pixel on it that is viewable when utilizing a white face screen. It’s a bit of an annoyance when you have the red dot starring back at you but it’s not the end of the world. I have contacted Samsung after going through the process on their website and answering some troubleshooting questions they have decided they will email a pre-paid shipping label for 2-day shipping so the process should be quick. Aside from the dead pixel, the screen is amazing, the colors are vibrant, I can read everything even in bright sunlight and some of the watch faces give the illusion of a reflection on the face, which is a nice touch. As a smart watch / fitness tracker it is ready to go to work right out of the box it is packed with enough features I didn’t feel the need to add any apps from the app store. The last part of that statement is very important, this device comes loaded out of the box with the apps it needs to perform any of the tasks I needed. From a smart watch standpoint, you can make calls, text, set reminders customize watch faces and even pay for your lunch with this thing. The call quality is like using speaker phone on many other devices but better. I have had people not even realize they were talking through my watch (be careful with this, it can get someone in trouble). I started using the fitness tracking with my Gear S2 and have become a much more avid user with the S3. Setting fitness goals and having the reminders throughout the day to let me know I have been sitting too long are great additions. I loved the built-in stretch exercise you can do simply by getting up at your desk. The mid workout encouragement helps you to stay focused and lets you know you're almost done. Once you reach the fitness goal at hand you get a review of how you performed. Competing with yourself helps you move forward in your fitness goals and gives you a good indicator of your improvement. The sleep monitoring was a revelation, I didn’t realize how little sleep I was getting every night until I put this thing on. After tracking my sleep and seeing that I wasn’t getting enough I began making changes to get more sleep. This resulted in feeling better throughout the day and even thinking more clearly. It’s refreshing to have a piece of tech that helps me make improvements on my health. When it comes to being a smart watch, the Gear S3 is a testament to Samsung’s “Innovation Made for Living”. The battery life gives it the longevity to be useful even if you take an occasional call. I could get 24 hours out of it with 15% to spare. It’s call quality, text messaging and notifications all add up to one thing, making my life easier. Whether I’m sitting in a meeting or out and about, I get notifications that let me decide if I need to pull out my phone or not. It even lets me act like inspector gadget when I take a call while doing other tasks. The microphone works so well that I can talk like normal without feeling the need to yell at my wrist and creating panic in the people around me. The voice dictation feature is great for sending text messages and you even get the option to send the recording or the text. This works pretty good but could be a little less clunky as there is an occasional lag when texting. If you don’t want to be weird in public you can simply draw the characters for your text message one at a time. It takes a bit longer but still gets the job done. The quickest way to respond to text is to use the pre-determined responses which you can customize. Most of the time my responses fall into this category but it’s nice to have the other options, it’s all about flexibility. Samsung Pay has seen some improvements making it work much more seamlessly. I started using it on the S2 and it only worked about half of the time which was frustrating when holding up the line to make it work while the suite behind you is piercing your soul with their eyes. With the Gear S3 I just tell them I’m using NFC, activate it on my watch, swipe and go and that’s how it should work. No feeling guilty for taking too long at the register like the person with the check-book. The Gear S3 has been a real asset to my daily life. Making things more simple is the whole purpose of technology and the Gear S3 does just that. If you’re in the market for a device that will make your life easier, I would recommend picking one of these up.
