Not like the KitchenAid mixers I have had in the p

I purchased this unit in Red just a little over a month ago. It was purchased to replace an Artesian model I have had for probably 20 years. It is truly lovely and looks beautiful on my countertop. When you turn it on it sounds horrible lots of noise and screeching and I keep telling myself I will get used to it but every time I use it I hate the noise. The other problem is that the beater blade does not fit onto it very well it is not a smooth fit, I actually have to physically shove it to make it go up the shaft, it is like metal grating against metal. I thought I might buy some kind of commercial food-grade lubricant to try and assist the situation. I came here to see the other reviews because I am seriously thinking about returning this. It's such a shame KitchenAid was always a top-notch product and leader in kitchen equipment. I don't think their quality is the same. My family who loves to cook (mom 7 4 girls have had them as long as I can remember, my Mom even had the one with the glass bowl. Maybe I should dig that one back out!!!

Second Mixer

This is our second mixer. We only bought the second one to pass down the first one to the third generation. If this new mixer holds up even a fraction as well as the first one, it was well worth the purchase. Kitchen Aid has always made a strong mixer in our opinion ...

Excellent piece of equipment!!!!

Beautiful crafted candy red machine. I have been putting it off for years, I didn't want to pay the price for one of these mixers. I couldn't wait any longer once I saw this amazing deal at Sam's. One that I do not regret. I have not had any issues with removing the bowl, or putting it back on. You can mix large batches of dough, or whatever you want to bake very easy, well I did. I personally I do not have a issue with the sound at all. I got a blender that's louder than this mixer, and the mixer is not going to running all-day so I don't care how loud its. It is a large mixer and I expected that, and it has some weight to it. It is a solid piece of equipment. So far all of the metal attachments are showing no signs of peeling. But I have only had it a week though. As long as it continue to function that's all I need it to do. I love this mixer it may not be for everyone but it is great for me, and it is a great deal! So that is a Great combination for me.

Verified Purchase

KitchenAid the name alone says it all.

I bought this for my daughter as a birthday gift. It is bold, big and beautiful! My daughter loves it! Only problem is she has to get her husband to build a stand for it because it won't fit on her counter. I'm jealous because I do a lot of baking and I wish I had this one.

Must have essential!

Love love love this!! I got the aqua and it looks so retro! Love that it came with 2 bowls and attachments for both. This was our second purchase - had to have one in each home! I like to make home made pasta! Definitely good for dough; and you can get some pretty cool attachments that make spirals out of zucchini and squash (to use like noodles!), shred cheese and vegetables and so much more. Very versatile - oh gosh I sound like an infomercial!

Great Value

Good product, great value, however, beware if you have it shipped.... it's shipped directly in the kitchenaid box. The item sat on my front porch all day (while I was at work) for all to see what I had ordered (the exact product picture is very big on the box), I'm very glad I live in a good neighborhood

Returned after 3 hours!

My wife has wanted a Kitchenaid mixer for years and her grandmothers hand mixer died after 18 years with Christmas baking so I took her to Sams today and surprised her by telling her to pick a color, I thought she was going to cry in the store she was SO excited. She couldnt wait to get it home and bake. It was somewhat awkward locking the bowl in and the design sucks with getting the beater in and out. She whipped up 2 separate batch of cookies and homemade marshmallows and then asked me to return it. If you are using it at a 4 or below the sound is tolerable, anything over a 4 and its nails on a chalkboard. Its a high whine noise and funky smell (in the instructions apparently the smell is normal for awhile) We couldnt get passed the whine seeing as she planned to use it daily. Our 3 yr old twins told us Mommy her green cookie maker was broken because of the noise coming from it. If you can get passed the noise then this is the product for you. I was told the tilt head Kitchenaid mixers do not have this noise so we are looking into that.

Wow! Why did I wait so long?

I owned an Oster Kitchen Center (included a stand mixer) for 20+ years, so saw no need for another. Then I moved to another state after 15 years in the same house and decided to pass the O.K.C. to my daughter (just graduated from college, and was glad to have it). Purchased the KitchenAid at Sam's Black Friday promotion--just couldn't pass it up. So now it's Christmas, which equals baking. I've mixed 3 batches of cookies today and all I can think is WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG??? Bowl is perfect size for a decent size batch, and mixing is superior. Some people on other sites have commented on the noise. Well, it's a mixer with a decent motor, so it's not *quiet* but I certainly don't think the noise is excessive. Thinking about making cinnamon rolls in the morning so I can use the dough hook.

BUY FOR YOUR PURPOSE

The Kitchenaid Professional 5 Qt mixer is a great choice for the serious home baker. It's powerful 475 watt motor will enable you to handle even bread or pizza dough easily. If the bowl size is to small for your needs, consider a Kitchenaid 8qt Professional mixer. For the average home baker the 5qt Professional is an excellent choice.
