Not up to KitchenAid standards

Ordered because what seemed great pricing, free shipping, high wattage, chrome color, wished to update 20 plus year old KitchenAid. Arrived promptly. When open & trying attachments, they were loose/floppy, dough hook did not have flange on top that keeps dough from "escaping". Did not even try, not up to my expectations of the excellence of KitchenAid

It's noisy

The motor is loud and the quality of the mixer is less than my smaller kitchen aid stand mixer. The ingredients would fly out of the mixer and I would think since it's bigger, it wouldn't do that. It doesn't do it with my 4 quart mixer. Overall, I would just buy/keep my 4 quart.

Excited

I had purchased an Artisan mixer after Thanksgiving and I noticed the price of the professional at Sam's club was only a few dollars more but an upgrade. So, my husband said get it, the Professional. I am so looking forward to using it. I have used a Kitchen Aid before (my mom's) and so loved it. I was able to bless my niece who loves to bake with my old mixer, not a Kitchen Aid. Once I had received, I started reorganizing my items on the counter and decided where better to put than on my baker's rack.

Bought as a gift because I love mine so much

I love my stand mixer so much that I bought this one for a relative for Christmas. There are endless possibilities with all the attachments. The downside is the cost for all the attachments. Another downside for this particular model is that you cannot buy a glass bowl for it. Many of the other models have this capability. I think it has something to do with the lift feature, but a glass bowl is available for the 6 qt lift mixer, but costs a lot more. As far as Sam's goes the shipping was super fast and the price was cheaper than anywhere else.

Mixer rubs bowl

We have had these for years and thought we would get a new one. Well when you turn it on the mixer blade rubs the bowl and scrapes off metal. We tried to adjust it according to the manual but there was not enough travel to get it to miss. We will be returning it.

Just ok...

I returned this mixer as I found it a bit cumbersome to use. Description did not explicitly state that the head flipped up, and it doesn't. There is a handle to bring the bowl up and down and I didn't like that. Even with the bowl all the way down I didn't find it really easy to put the wire whip in place. I suffer from arthritis, so that was a deal breaker for me. And with the bowl all the way up, the whip didn't seem to reach far enough into the bowl to mix properly. I don't know, maybe I just don't know much about kitchen products, but I didn't like it. I bought a different one (also Kitchen Aid) that flips up and with a smaller bowl that works much better for me.

Horrible kitchen aid customer service

Go this from SAMs, excited to use it. Used once then the stand handle that raised and lowered the bowl broke. Called kitchen aid to find out their "hassle free return" program that came with it is not accurate and they would help me with getting it fixed or replaced. Thank gos SAMs has satisfaction guarantee and took it back with no hassle at all. Ended up going to sears and getting a kenmore elite stand mixer with a tilt head and love it.

Not good for bread

We bought one of these to upgrade from our smaller older model because I wanted to make larger batches of bread. The first batch of dough I made was a double loaf recipe and I was upset because the motor was stalling out. My smaller model mixer was able to make a 4 loaf recipe without any hint of it working hard, this new 5qt plus just wasn't up to the task. I contacted kitchen aid and was shipped a new one. Upon arrival I tried the same batch of bread, a small 2 loaf recipe and it again struggles and actually almost stalls out. Kitchen aid accused me of making too heavy of a dough, but I gave them the recipe and they were shocked as it is a standard white bread dough and shouldn't have any problems with the small amount. I'm not sure if it is the larger dough hook on this model or if the product just isn't very good. I am not going to even bother getting another one because it's evident that the product just isn't that good. Perhaps light cookie batter may be good in this, but a hand mixer is up to that task. Not very happy with this product.

Bowl Arm Takes getting used too.

My husband purchased the mixer for my Christmas present, I picked it out. My neighbor and I have "shared" her Artisan for years. I would bake for them and they would eat what I baked. Was a good trade off until the day we both wanted to use the mixer. I prefer the way her bowl attaches than the lift arm I purchased. It really takes getting used to and it sure isn't a one hand job attaching the bowl. I do understand the lift arm is supposed to hold the bowl more securely for heavy mixing, like bread, but it tends to jerk on the arm sometimes and I worry it will wear something down on the inside over time. It is also a bit more messy getting the different paddles out of the bowl without making a mess, unlike tilt lift mixers. Only the test of time will show the durability of the mixer, hence the 4 stars.

Mixer attachments

This was a Christmas present. Opened the box and the mixer itself is made very sturdy.........but........all of the attachments were very "cheap". My daughter has an old mixer, just a little smaller and the attachments had a ceramic covering on the attachments. These looked like "pot metal" If you pay this much for this type of mixer and this is what you get..............oh yes, if you want the better attachments you will have to buy them separately......great mixer with cheap attachments. If you pay this much for mixer, all of it should be of high quality.
