Cheap design, unsanitary, made to fail.

My husband and I cook a lot. We've used an ancient little 2 cup cuisinart forever and love it, we use it just about every single day. For almost every meal, we use it to make a salsa, or fine chop herbs, or a sauce, or crush nuts, whatever. That means it needs to get cleaned every day, maybe a couple times. The ancient cuisinart bowl, blade, and lid were as simple as can be, a quick soapy sponge wipe got everything. THIS chopper was never designed by someone who does dishes. It would be impossible to get clean by hand, and we're just simple peasants without a machine. The lid is full of creases, crevices, pockets, channels, nooks, crannies, and for the life of me I can't figure out why there are multiple parts to the lid- a black ring goes over the clear lid, it does not come off despite there being several compartment areas, hinges, and pieces in there, so turns the entire lid into a food, moisture, and bacteria trap. The more I look at it the crazier it gets. Just a maze of crevices, I can't believe anybody designed it without realizing how unsanitary it is. It would take an absurd amount of time to clean it as best as possible by hand, but you will never actually get it clean. Disgusting. I am really disappointed in such a huge oversight by this company- not everybody has a dish washing machine, why would they make this thing virtually impossible to clean by hand? The operating design is also, frankly, quite stupid- there's minuscule little plastic bits on the handle that need to compress to turn the motor on, instead of- I don't know, a switch? A dial? A button? And goodness knows, nobody's ever broken a sprinkle-sized piece of plastic that sticks off a bowl in a kitchen ever!

Small in size … big in service

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased a few weeks ago to replace 20 year old cuisinart which we loved. Worried we wouldn't find a replacement we liked as well. Love this new appliance. Compact when it comes to counter space but does everything we ask if it. Powerful with blade so sharp it took few days for us to stop liquifying everything. The pulse with thumb control is easy to use. Like that the blade is easily removed to dump contents into bowl without a mess. Cleanup also fast and easy. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

Makes small pieces out of big

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had it for a month. Replacing a 30 year old Sunbeam Oskar! I recently developed a motor neuron disease and swallowing is becoming more difficult. I've been using this beautiful new KA to process foods into something that I don't choke on. Also, since I need more calories I use it to combine Boost drinks with instant milk & ice cream. Easy to use. Easy to clean. I've used the drizzle hole in the lid and that is a nice feature. This is a very nice product.

Broken quickly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own several Kitchen Aid appliances, but was terribly disappointed with this item. One of the plastic catches that connect the container to the base broke after one use. Expected better quality from Kitchen Aid.

Best small food processor ever!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this food processor for only a month and can't believe how much I use it. I've owned two small processors over the years, but neither was as effective and easy to use as this KitchenAid. The size is perfect, for Pesto, other fresh herbs, garlic, peppers, tomatoes, and onions. Sauces are so easy--orange curry sauce, mushroom Basil, Satay sauce. Best purchase ever.

Sturdy Little Chopper!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this about a month ago. So far it is the best chopper we've every had. Easy to use. My husband loves that the cord wraps around the bottom of the chopper in its own grooved recess. We enjoy using it!

Don't pass it up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm 77 years old and I got this for my birthday from my daughter. I've made fantastic peanut butter, cut up carrots for soup, and onions, I've mixed minced garlic. And I have grated Parmesan cheese. It's not something you use every day. But I have used it twice a week at least. My daughter says she makes wonderful graham cracker pie crust with it. I will try that next. I would like to see KitchenAid make some more creative ideas because I would love to try them. I recommend it, it's not big it doesn't take up much room.

Low quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In just over a year, a small plastic piece snapped off the inner part of the lid so now it won't start (it has a built in press button on the lid). I am really disappointed that a part this small (barely the size of an eraser head) would be so loosely attached and made of cheap plastic. We did not use this product often enough to even warrant basic wear and tear. The quality of this product is low.
