love the brand, not as crazy about the pots

I have had these a year. I like them. I feel like they should shine more after I wash them. HOWEVER last night my husband burned green beans really bad! How do you even do that?? the bottom was black and I thought great these don't clean up as well as I like under normal circumstances. Today, I put some hot water in the pot and turned it on med/high to try and soak them to get the burnt off. I then forgot about it for a couple of hours. I walked through the kitchen I almost had a heart attack! There was no more water in the pan. I don't know how I didn't burn down my house but you know what??? It cleaned right up!!!!! LOL really I wanted to give 3 stars because I don't think the finish is holding up from the first wash. But after today, I had to add a star. I even resisted putting them in the dishwasher and washed them by hand, it didn't seem to matter, they are not shiny like when new, they are dull. But they do the job.

Disappointed

Using the set for only a few weeks I've been very fastidious about adding salt to anything before it's boiling. Yesterday I used the large pot and calendar together to steam cauliflower. No salt was added to the cauliflower no salt was added to the water. After dinner upon washing the pots I discovered pitting in the bottom of the pot. Very disappointed

Awesome Pans

I will say I was looking for a heavy duty fry pan and stock pot with thick bottoms and these are it! They are heavy but I like heavy pans as they conduct heat so much better. Very easy to clean. Should look like new after almost every use. Just fill the bottom with water and a good amount of vinegar and boil. Remove from heat and add baking soda and whatever you just cooked will come right out. Finish with hot soapy water and cleaning up after dinner only takes minutes. They heat up very fast. Overall I love these pans.

Engineer Review

Yes they are made in China. Viking cookware seems to be made by Clipper, the lower cost sets are made in China. I see no reason to trust Chinese manufacturing with regard to safety etc but I do expect the quality people at Viking/Clipper to control quality attributes important to the US Market. They look to be quality the edge seems to be sealed meaning the stainless is closed and the aluminum core is not visible. One of the brands of three ply had the aluminum open and it oxidized. I don't know that it was necessarily a problem but clearly not good finished quality. The first cleaning should be by hand and the cooking surface should be cleaned with Barkeepers Friend or equivalent. You will get a grey dirt that is probably oxidation or from the manufacturing process. Many would not find it appetizing and soap and water or a dishwasher will not take it off. There will be a learning curve to frying, Search Youtube for how to prep the fry pans and how to use stainless fry pans. It is not politcally incorrect so they don't censor the information. Educate yourself, if you are considering stainless I suspect you are the type that knows you don't want your food touching Teflon or aluminum. Oh, Viking customer service did answer the phone when I called...or maybe it was Clipper? I will not comment on water spots and keeping them showpieces, I don't really care. I will not give 5 stars until they perform for 5 years.

Heavy & beautiful

After having a small set of RevereWare for 35 years I decided to finally treat myself to an upgrade. These pots & pans are phenomenal. I was apprehensive about my ability to cook on stainless steel but there are a lot of videos on YouTube along with the instruction booklette the set comes with. These pots & pans are very heavy-duty & beautiful. What a value!

WONDERFUL SET

I absolutely love this set! With proper techniques, nothing sticks! I love knowing we won’t be eating Teflon or anything else besides the actual food I cook. BKF has kept them looking like when I took out of box. Beautiful and sturdy set! I do have to use silicone handle holders for hot lid handles but I don’t mind at all. I’m teaching my college sons to use them correctly for when they have their own homes. Hopefully I can find these again to gift to them. It took a month to see these in stock to order but so worth the wait!
