I had really wanted this!

Every-time this was part of an instant savings deal I would hesitate only to have it no longer available. Even though I finally got a Stanley Fatmax 700, I still wanted to get the 1000. About a year ago I finally got one during another instant savings deal and charged it up immediately! I loved that all I had to do was connect an extension cord instead of trying to keep track of a transformer and cord. Someone else thought this was a bad thing! But what was a bad thing was that several days later, the compressor started running on its own and no matter how many times I stopped it, it would eventually start again. I was concerned that the people at Sam's Club wouldn't believe me but the compressor started running again, sealed in the box, at the customer service desk.

1 Year Old and DEAD!!

If you buy this product then you better get the Allstate protection - IT WILL DIE. Used 2 times, stored in a climate-controlled garage, no longer works, battery shows less than 8v when tested, refuses to charge. This item belongs to a professional electrician and electronics expert so HE knows what he is doing (despite the store questions).

Broke during first use.

Bought this went to use the air compressor feature to blow up a pool float it came on ran for about 2 minutes and overheat and started smoking wouldn't turn off until it caught fire and burned up. Never even got to try the starter feature because once it started smoking and turned off the thing is just dead. Total piece of junk save your money because this won't save you if your counting on it to in a bad situation. I expected better from the Stanley name brand very disappointing.

Terrible battery life

We've had this for a few months with little overall usage, and the battery will no longer hold a full charge. The best you are able to get is 50%, which is enough to inflate 1, MAYBE 2 tires. Jump starting is the luck of the draw. I have had to jump my neighbor's car a few times this year and 25% of the time does it have enough battery power to actually jump the car without another full (50%) charge.

Verified Purchase

No power cord.

Returned never used because it does not come with a power cord to charge it up. The unit requires an extension cord to attach to the unit. The unit has the two prong end on the unit which I thought would pull out but it does not. I don't want to have to look for a cord every time it needs charging.

Works Great ... then poof, it's gone

I've had three of these things now and they work really well out of the box. Before you know it, they quit. Not the first one, but three now. The concept is good, but since this is made in China, they need to reevaluate that manufacturing issue.

Will not inflate tires

Only have had it a few days but found out it will not inflate anything with a valve stem. Air line does not depress the pin in the middle of the valve stem allowing air to pass through the valve stem. As soon as you try to use the compressor with a valve stem the compressor shuts off because it is only compressing the air between the compressor and the valve stem. Do not know if other Fatmaxs have the same problem.

Not as good as I hoped

I had it for less than a year I got to use it one time to pump up four tires. And then I was able to use it to jump start somebody's car one time. And then it just kept beeping and beeping and beeping until the battery ran out and it would not take another charge. So I may have gotten a dud. So buyer beware, good luck.

Poorly designed and bad quality control

Out of the box, there are a few major issues with this thing. The plug requires an extension cord. If they added 6 inches of of retractable or folded cord, it would immediately improve. Second, the build quality is terrible. The buttons shift around and feel like they are cheap plastic floating around behind a crappy frame, the stickers (not that they matter) are crooked and peeling out of the box with the edges lifted. Though stickers are irrelevant, it is just a sign that 0 care went into making this thing. The last and worst up to this point (haven't used it to jump anything) is that the power does nothing to disable the buttons so if you keep it in your trunk and something hits a button, the USB turns on and drains the battery. There needs to be a kill switch that prevents this in order to avoid dead batteries. Overall, it's disappointing that Sam's club would carry this junk when there are much better versions out there and it is disappointing that Stanley would put out such a poorly designed product.

Poor Quality

The first unit I bought lasted 16 months. I liked the unit but it lasted a fraction of the time compared to the Craftsman that had lasted for years and had more functionality. I figured I’d give it one more shot and buy another. It was dead right out of the box. It was clearly never tested at the factory. The display didn’t work and the keys were slightly pushed into the unit. Stanley, after all these years, you still continue the low end reputation you have earned.
