Any coffee review has to start with how the coffee was brewed to be of any value to others. I immersion brew my coffee with a 2 minute steep before passing it through a cone filter. This is a very refined dark roast coffee. It has no rough edges, for lack of a better description, that are a staple with most dark roasts. I detected caramel and chocolate notes with a pleasant aftertaste. No astringency in the aftertaste. I keep three different coffees in stock a medium roast, a medium dark roast, and a dark roast. This coffee will permanently fill the dark roast opening I've had for a couple of years now.

We've used this coffee for years and love it. Dont know who came up with the new bag colors and design...looks silly but the coffee is excellent.

I have been buying this for a long time before the name change . french roast beans should be glossy black. my last bag is medium brown and not glossy , the taste is also not as good .

Always purchase Starbucks French Roast, FR SB Beans not available at Sams , purchase MM FR. Did not like the taste. Purchased SB Expresso beans Sams on line and retuned the FR. Pleases with the SB Expresso

Quite good. With inflation out of control, I was looking for a better price than starbucks. I found it without sacrificing taste. Nice and dark, not bitter.

I used Member's Mark Espresso Roast for years. I tried a bag of this and can't even drink one cup. It is almost the worst coffee I have ever tasted. It is bitter and tastes like the cheapest ground you can buy.

Great flavor. After I open bag, I place beans in airtight container and keep them in a cool, dark cupboard. The beans stay fresh until I'm ready to grind for great cup coffee, every time!

Tasted Burnt. Oily coffee is coffee that has been over roasted. Usually because its cheap beans and they try to cover the taste by burning the coffee.
