This rice was used to replace the rice that came in the box. Unfortunately, you have made a mistake. While it is labeled “long grained”, it is absolutely not the same type of rice. You have made a mistake. The old rice was in the same category as Uncle Ben’s long grained rice. The new one is a totally different texture.

Normally, this rice is perfectly fine. HOWEVER, if you buy it to have on hand for long term emergency needs (like, for instance, in case a worldwide pandemic occurs) be sure to store it in an AIRTIGHT container, not in the bag it comes in. And maybe toss in a little food-grade diatomaceous earth. I failed to do either of these things and now all 25 pounds of rice is going in the trash because its full of rice weevils. I consider this a failure on my part, not Sam's, because, given enough time, any rice product from any distributor can attract these pests if the consumer fails to prevent it.

I bought this in order to maintain on hand an ample supply of easily-stored rice for basic, no-frills; yet nutritious meals. So far, I have been pleased using it for Beans & Rice, Chicken Rice Soup, and for Rice Pudding. I note that it is "stickier" than the long grain white rice to which I am accustomed (used by Chinese Restaurants)--but is no doubt less expensive. Were you to desire a product for use by itself, as a side dish, you might be better served by a fancier variety. I note that this comes in a sturdy, plastic bag to protect contents--once opened, one must devise a means of re-closing it in secure fashion. (I used packing tape, but various spring-type closures should also work).

I have bought this rice many times over the years, but lately the quality has been slipping a lot. I have had to throw away the last two bags I have purchased because of bugs. In the first case I had about 10-15 pounds left when I noticed webs in the top of the bag. This time I had put some on a plate to get rid of bad rice and found it to contain live bugs, in this case I ended up throwing about 40 pounds away. I also noticed that a lot of the rice had a white plastic look to it, through Google, I found out that this was rice that had not been allowed to mature.

I don't know if i got a bad batch, unfortunately I didn't catch it early enough, otherwise I would have returned it. Many grains had black on the tip and I even found a bug. I ended up throwing away this rice. I wish Sams could read this to make things right. Anyway, no, I do not recommend this.

Let me start this off by saying I worked in the grain business for years, same as my family. So I know grain gets bugs. However, the bag I received had bugs when I opened it along with larve. The grain it's self had quite a few black grains (which I would call mold) along with lots of morning glory seeds and grain hulls. If I received this grain at a grainery I would have gave it a 3 at best. 1 being great, 2 being good (which is what most people eat.) 3 being poor, and 4 being trash. This bag is somewhere between a 3 and a 4. It's just awful. I seriously just sifted through a 25 pounds of rice and got maybe 10 pounds. I threw the other 15 pounds away because there were just too many bugs to pick out. Our nearest Sam's club is an hour away so I didn't even bother taking it back. I won't make this mistake again for sure. It's not the first time I've bought this rice either. All the other bags have been excellent quality, but somewhere in the past two years something went down hill.

I do not like this rice. The rice grains are not just long-grain white rice. Some other kind of rice is mixed in there. This rice does not cook properly and does not taste good at all (flavor or texture). I've stopped buying this and switched to the yellow bag Jasmine rice as it is really good.

Just can't beat the quality and the price makes it an even better option.

Mostly broken pieces and rice dust. This is a waste of money.
