Rubbery pecans

I bought these pecans shortly before Thanksgiving for a pecan pie. When I opened the package, I noticed that the pecans were rubbery. I normally have access to delicious fresh pecans and shell them myself, and I've never seen a rubbery one before now. The Member's Mark also aren't as tasty, but still seemed good.

Poor Quality!

I do not recommend purchasing or consuming this product. The pecans are very poor quality and I believe consuming them made me sick. I purchased a bag approximately 1 month ago. Due to my current diet plan, I eat pecans on a daily basis. After consuming this product, I noticed that I was experiencing unpleasant issues with my bowels that I had never experienced with other brands of pecans. The symptoms completely subsided when I stopped consuming the product. However, I decided to give the product another try, with the same results. Living in the south where pecans are grown, I know how a pecan should look and taste. This product is far from being normal and fresh. The pecans are shriveled, soft, have black spots and have an odd taste. Overall, the taste, appearance and texture of the pecan makes it clear that this product SHOULD NOT be on store shelves and certainly should not be consumed.

32 oz Bag of Pecans Does NOT Have 32 oz of Pecans

Just by chance I weighed a bag of the Member's Mark Fancy Pecan Halves and discovered that the bag was 2.5 oz short of 32 oz. Hum.... I then weighed 5 more bags and discovered they too averaged 2.5 oz less than advertised. I figure since I bought 12 bags for Christmas nut gifts I am owed a free bag. DISAPPOINTED!!!

Not A Good Quality Nor Taste!

This company blends several pecan growers of pecans without checking the quality for 3 quarters of any bag, which is NOT good! The halves of the pecans are actually broken pecan pieces. Then, there's the taste of the pecans and the actual appearance of the pecans. Most of the pecans are "A quality", instead of AAA, or 1st quality, and the entire bag of pecans that should not be sold as good quality, period! Last, there's tiny sizes pecans, little sizes pecans, a lot of bits and pieces, and finally, a few WHOLE-HALF sizes pecans as the bag states, "pecan halves", not by a long shot! This is false advertising and a bad, bad product, at appx. $6 a pound. As a Baker, I am not satisfied with this product period! But, you get what you pay for here!, broken pieces of pecans, not whole pecans!

What the heck happened to them?

I'm not sure what's going on with these, but the last four bags have been awful. I've thrown away about 20% of teach bag because they are dried up. I wish I had kept my receipts because I would have returned each one and asked for my money back. I kept thinking it was an odd one off, but four months in a row makes it a regular occurrence. What used to be a really good deal has become a money and time wasting experience. My last bag was Lot 47062. I hope they get better before Christmas because this is frustrating.

Wonderful pecans!

I've bought these twice now and I'm quite happy with the quality, amount and value of these. They are always fresh, but I pop them right into the freezer when i bring them home. They stay fresher longer. Great in all kinds of dessert or just to snack on by themselves. I highly recommend them.

Obviously better than old reviews stated

After reading available reviews of these pecan halves, I was somewhat reluctant to buy them since no-one wants old, stale pecans. However after seeing that most of these reviews were five years old, or older, I took a chance and ordered a package. They were available at our local Sams and at a decent price and were VERY GOOD and FRESH! The only way to get fresher pecans would be to pick them off of the tree yourself and shell them. Here's hoping that Sams will update their site and show some more recent reviews.

New Pecans

I just purchase this product, Member's Mark pecans, and they looked dried up and the taste was not as good. I always buy pecans at Sam's because I bake but I liked the other ones I used to buy. I purchased two bag but had to take them back. Hope you bring the others back.

Molded Pecans

Just over a month ago, I purchased the pecans for the first time at Sam's. For years, I purchased bulk pecans at another big box retailer, but thought I would try these. After approximately three weeks, there was enormous mold growth on them. I took several pics, but won't bother to gross anyone out. I'm hoping the store will follow up with their growers and incorporate any quality control measures that will help to avoid this in the future. I love Sam's, but I was fully alarmed and disgusted with the pecans.

Love.

This last batch was larger nuts. They are consistently good pecans. Recipe: 2 cups pecans heated in a skillet add 1/4 cup Sam's maple syrup heat for a couple minutes until it drys a little, spread on parchment paper, let cool a bit, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, put in quart jar gently shake the sugar around and it keeps them from sticking together. Very addictive!!
