Chemical fumes burn eyes and smell lingers in room

This is a terrible product that I am unable to return via the online chat or calling customer service. It is 42 pounds so difficult to bring in. I am worried that this is a dangerous product but customer service doesn't care—because of the smell that fills up the apartment even when there is a lid on it. Not only does it not clump. But it burns your eyes to be in the same room with it. And changing litter it's difficult to do and not vomit because of the litter smell. I see now why it was so cheap and the lid was on so tightly.

Declining, Marginal Product

We've been using this litter for over 10 years with no complaints. Recently, however, the formulation has changed or quality control has been eliminated. Dust has become excessive. Clumping, which had been firm, has almost disappeared. Clumps fall apart making scooping impossible. This product must return to its previous level of performance or we will be forced to an alternative product.

Worse than Expected

Probably the worst cat litter I have tried. My idea of clumping litter and the manufacturer's are obviously quite different. I thought it would actually clump not just be urine soaked and stinky. The cheap turned out expensive because the only thing scoopable was the cat's #2, not what I expected. I had to completely empty the litter box rather than scoop it out so for me it was definitely not worth using at all. I had bought a second container before using it so stuck with that too.

Horrible. Awful. Don't buy!!

You get what you pay for. 42lbs for $10.49 (or whatever the change was) Horrible. Stay away from this stuff. We normally use Tidy Cat but wanted something better - this was not it! It is holy dusty first of all. It has no scent to it, so the litter box smells like a toilet now. It has the consistency of mud...cleaning the box was like digging in the back yard. Maybe it's more like saw dust than dirt, but it isn't granules like other litter. Yes, it's cheap, but it's also VERY CHEAP. (I have nothing good to say about this litter. Sure, it has no scent that will annoy your sinuses, but the dust alone will send you into an asthma attack)

An old standby that just got a boost to excellent

I've been using this when money gets tight. I prefer the fresh step but it's $34.00 for two 42lb bags, where this is $21.00 for the same. So when money is tight it's a no brainer. however, the caveat has always been that this stuff is like a dust bomb. it coats EVERYTHING in the room it's in with dust. not just a little, a lot. I bought two tubs again last month and when i went to pour it in, i was pleasantly surprised that there was suddenly almost zero dust! I couldn't believe it! Got to the second tub a month later and the same thing! I thought i must have gotten lucky and got a good batch, but I went in to get more last week, and when i opened the new one, it's the same thing! Somewhere down the line they made a change and the one thing that I hated about this otherwise best choice, is now fixed and IMO this is a fantastic choice! From now on I won't be buying this when money is tight, I'm going to get it all the time because it's great! Thank you!

Extremely Dusty

The price for this litter is excellent, probably the best price I could find. The only downside and it was a deal breaker for me, it is way to dusty!!!! My wife couldn't scoop it because it produced way to much dust. If you don't mind the dust and don't mind dusting every surface in your room, this litter is for you.

Peeeue!

I used to use this litter all the time, but the “new” formula is far too scented. I've had to move the litterbox to the main floor because of arthritis in both my cat and me and the scent is overwhelming. I'm going back to A&H unscented. It costs more, but I'll just have to live with it. Try removing the scent and adding baking soda to the mix.

Won't buy again.

I've been pleased with many other Member's Mark items so I tried this with high hopes. The texture is very strange, almost like big granules of sand, and very dusty. The litter does not clump very well, and stays wet so it breaks into a ton of pieces when attempting to scoop it out. Also, there is basically no odor control with this brand.

So dusty it covers everything including your lungs

Obviously the price is the most attractive thing about this product. We recently got a Sam's Club membership and I researched all the items we normally buy for our household to see what was a better value at Sam's. We got this and it was pretty darn dusty but I thought hey, the price is right, we'll keep using it. The room that our cats' litter boxes are in is only used for their stuff and a treadmill that is used 4-7 times a week. The door to this room stays closed with a kitty flap installed, to keep cat smells as contained as possible. The litter boxes are in an open closet in that room - as nestled away as we can have them, basically. Within a couple weeks of using the Member's Mark brand of litter, I began to notice just how much the dust was affecting the room. Everything had a layer of dust - most noticeable on the black treadmill - that made the room feel like an old abandoned space. And this with me dusting and vacuuming on at least a weekly basis. I had already noticed that when I scooped the litter daily, I had to pop my head out and away to take breaths between scoops; it was just too suffocating. Then, during one of my 1-2 times a week vacuuming sessions, I looked around the room and noticed it appeared smoky - as if there was a fire in there! It was the stirred up litter dust! I even replaced the bag and hepa filter in my vacuum to be sure there wasn't an issue there. I don't have allergies and even dust usually doesn't bother me, but this was too much. I felt stuffy and ill the rest of the day. We have one bucket remaining but I think we will save that for garage oil cleanup or winter weather car emergencies because I cannot wait another bucket's worth of dust to switch back to what I used before. The brand I used before is $0.31/lb vs. Member's Mark's $0.22/lb, but for the health of my lungs, my cats' lungs, and the cleanliness of everything near the litter boxes, I am GLADLY switching back.

clumps heavy and loose and weak odor control

Bought this stuff several times because of price and good reusable bucket (great cat food bucket). However, urine clumps heavy and loose. About 25% crumbles to wet dust when scooping. Contaminates the rest with stink. Odor control is nill. Sams was out of stock last visit. So I bought a brand called Cheshire from another store. I saw the light and won't buy Member Mark again. For me better to spend a couple bucks more for the the good stuff. Cost balances out because the good stuff clumps tight and light and good odor control. Use less. I wish Member Mark would have comparable quality at good price
