Excellent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a #freesample and I loved this coffee. I thought it was strong but not over strong and bitter. Very enjoyable compared to the brand that we currently buy. I used my own reusable pod and filled it for my keurig, I used the brew strong setting and a 10 oz cup.

A bright beginning to a day

My coffee pot holds up to 8 ounces of beans in an air tight container. I set the pot to have my coffee ready by 6:45am. The coffee beans are ground, put into the basket, and brewed with piping hot water. Takes about 8 minutes. Nothing better than the smell of the coffee as I walk down the hallway to my kitchen.

Love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am usually not a dark roast fan but this Sumatra Ground Coffee is a very smooth blend that does not disappoint. I am very pleased with the taste and smell. I will be purchasing this in the future.

good stuff

see my review for Kenya: basically excellent flavor, complex and deep, but not over bearing, best mixed with Kenya...our days start at @ 0230-0300 hrs and run until we get done at night often past 2000 hrs...this really a good way to start your day then switch to center coffee, which is also a Starbucks blend, Pike Place

Delicious

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My household is huge fans of dark roast coffees, and Sumatra fit the bill more than adequately. We're also really focused on ONE type of coffee bean: time after time, blends or multiple types of beans that create a compilation type of roast just do not taste good, as the flavors seem to "fight" each other, and it always shows up in the flavor of the coffee. Although I might have liked to have ground the beans myself to my taste (as well as coffee making apparatus), it's nice to have a break from doing so! In short, with the dark roast, single-origin type, and ground coffee, Sumatra was a big hit -- and I will look for it in the store to purchase! #freesample

Decaf Sumatra

I finally ran out of decaf Sumatra. After hearing it was discontinued I managed to find a few remaining bags at local stores. Now I am on a mission to find a replacement for a coffee that I had been exclusively drinking for the past 5 years. I have tried the Cafe Verona and Expresso decafs and, while they aren't terrible, the flavor is not as smooth as the Sumatra. Perhaps more importantly, the Sumatra utilized the Swiss Water decaf process, rather than the more common chemical process. I am confused why Starbucks would discontinue the variety that is chemical free considering company ethics. So now, I am trying other companies' water processed decafs, hoping to find one that comes close to Starbucks Decaf Sumatra. If anyone has found one, please share in these reviews.

Great cup of Joe

We love the strong, dark roast of this coffee. It is high in acidity but we have figured out to blend it with the Komodo Dragon witch is equally strong and bold but lower in acid. The great pairing results in a strong, bold flavor with a much milder acidity level.

Sumptuous Sumatra!

First of all, I was very happy to see that Starbucks (my favorite coffee) joined forces with Keurig (my favorite coffee delivery system). Secondly, the Sumatra coffee is very dark & delicious. I think it's every bit as good as a pot fresh brewed. I get excited just thinking about my first cup in the morning! How can I stay sleepy after such a bold cup of coffee? THANK YOU STARBUCKS!!

Great bold personality

Sumatra is the workhorse and is the essence of Starbucks' taste for me. I drink other origins and blends, but I always come back to Sumatra. As a single origin coffee, there is none better. This is for those that like a bold, full bodied coffee from start to finish.
