It's Changed!

I've been drinking Starbucks Sumatra Dark Roast since they came out with it in the mid 80's. It has always been earthy, rich and low in acid. I do not care for high-acid coffees. With my most recent purchase, it is clear that they have substantially changes this coffee. It is now very acidic, and is not a rich as it has been for decades. If you like high-acid coffees, then it's OK for you, but I will not be buying this any more.

Great cup of Joe

We love the strong, dark roast of this coffee. It is high in acidity but we have figured out to blend it with the Komodo Dragon witch is equally strong and bold but lower in acid. The great pairing results in a strong, bold flavor with a much milder acidity level.

Absolute fave, can't live without.

I love coffee! And a dark roast. I drink coffee enough and all day to keep decafe around for evenings. Sumatra is the tastiest bean and the best coffee I've ever brewed at home. What I love is the dense, full body, complex flavors, ultra smooth experience without the acrid bite or acidic properties of a French roast. It doesn't burn my stomach. I need a coffee that can be brewed to zero opacity without acidic bitterness - if I can see thru the brewed coffee in a pot or cup, that is an epic fail. No other coffees hold up as flavorfully to that standard. But a cup of Sumatra flavor can also hold up to cream and sugar - it blends and shines thru. The keywords are smooth, intense, and rich. If you like Starbucks Christmas coffee you'll love Sumatra.

Sumptuous Sumatra!

First of all, I was very happy to see that Starbucks (my favorite coffee) joined forces with Keurig (my favorite coffee delivery system). Secondly, the Sumatra coffee is very dark & delicious. I think it's every bit as good as a pot fresh brewed. I get excited just thinking about my first cup in the morning! How can I stay sleepy after such a bold cup of coffee? THANK YOU STARBUCKS!!

Smelled burnt and taste burnt!

My recent bag of Sumatra grounds are terrible. I love opening up a bag and smelling the wonderful aroma of Sumatra Coffee grounds. This did not happen with Starbucks Sumatra ground coffee in a bag. As soon as I opened it I knew it would be terrible. I brewed it anyway and tasted horrible. The coffee is burnt from the get go. Expected more from this company. What a waste of money. Folgers coffee is better and that says allot.

Nice roasty flavor but a little bitter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like my coffee creamy and sweet, but always willing to try new flavors, especially when they are offered as a #freesample. This has a lovely, dark flavor, but with a touch of the slightly burnt taste that defines many darker roasts. I would definitely bake with this, as a fun alternative to espresso, but would probably not drink it as often as a regular cuppa.

Strong and Rich Sumatra Coffee

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow, this was a strong coffee. It had a bold and rich flavor. Sumatra made a smooth cup of coffee that kicked off my morning. I will drink this again. This was sampled as part of a #freesample offer.

Very distinct. Bold but not heavy. My favorite!

This is the blend for when I have time to sit and really enjoy the smell and taste. I use other blends for morning or regular use, but I always keep this on hand. The flavor is dark and bold, but not as "heavy" as the other dark blends. It is not bitter. It really does leave light lingering herbal flavors as the description states. This is my favorite blend from Starbucks.

Sumatra is the best

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just sampled the Starbucks Sumatra coffee and it may now be my go-to miring wake-up call. I love the dark blend and he full bodied flavor. You know you are drinking coffee and not just a cup of warm brown water. #freesample
