Like others mentioned in their comments, I also think this blend has gone through an awful change over the past year or two. I drink pike place every day, and for awhile I would get a good bag then a bad bag almost 50% of the time. The bad bags would have a high pitch bitter taste that replaced the smooth even flavor and aftertaste I liked. Now its almost every bag I get. I'd really like to know what's going on. I've already switched to another brand, but if they fix their quality control issue I would love to switch back.

ok, kids, this is our office coffee...full flavor, not bitter or overpowering, with a good buzz included....we work in emergent sevices, you know, medicine, communications, and coordinating everything from feeding to sheltering, to basically babysitting people in really bad situations, and preparing of all the natural events that can and do occur in a very really rural area. if you are in the trade, you need to spoil yourself, give yourself little treats/rewards to keep going...maybe washing your mouth, or just taking 5 in a quiet place...in our trade:not a happening thing, but a really good cup of coffee, from the french press and a camel just gives enough of respite to mmake things good...the first 24-36 hrs are critical...pretty stressful, so have a good cup and smoke get your team and debrief, destress...just take 5 and totally unload, plus life looks pretty good...things are not as bad a Charlie-Foxtrot as you thougt...there is hope and light at then end of the tunnel...a little sleep and do it again

I bought this coffee for the office. I just wanted a medium blend coffee everyone would enjoy. That is exactly what I got. It's perfect for adding flavors if that's your thing. Cream, sugar, pressed, or dripped it was delicious. I read the other reviews and from what I read the bad comments just don't know what they like from a coffee. To them I recommend taking the explore quiz or going into a coffee shop requesting something new. Coffee is just as unique as the people who drink it.

only 4 stars because it is not my fav, it is what i drink at work , but pretty darn good, in fact i like it so much i have all the emergent serv leaders who drink coffee where i work, drinking it. good flavor, good body, nice amt of caffine but not too much and if yo drink too much not jittery...just about right, but still not my fav

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I prefer freshly grinding my coffee, but for convenience I like the pre-ground coffee as well. This Starbucks blend is very good for my morning rotation. I make it strong, with generous scoops to water ratio, because I feel that it packs more flavor that way. Overall this blend makes a solid cup of coffee

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I drink my coffee black and the Starbucks Pike Place roast is a little too robust for me even though the package says it is a medium roast. Starbucks coffee tend to be more stout especially in the coffee shop. It is smooth tasting to the front of the tongue but then is more bitter towards the back of the mouth and upon swallowing. I really can't taste the note of cocoa or rich praline that it claims on the package. I would probably like it more if I was a cream or milk user as that would mellow out the taste. It is great to be able to have a Starbucks coffee in a K-cup but I think in the future I will try another Starbucks K-cup selection. However, I will drink the rest of the pods!

I have been drinking the Starbucks Pike Place Blend (black) for the last 5 years as my house coffee. I drink it daily and have absolutely loved it. However, about 2 or 3 months ago I noticed that the coffee tastes cheaper and more bitter. It's definitely not the same blend that it used to be. To prove it, I opened an older bag that I saved and it tasted excellent, the way that I have become accustomed too. However, when I compared it to the new bag, the new bag tasted far worse, much more bitter. The variation isn't due to the bag because I have had this problem with the last 3 bags of Pike Place Blend that I have ordered. Thus, I would like to know if you altered the Pike Place Blend to make it a cheaper lower quality coffee. My strong suspicion is that you have, which would be very unfortunate since it's the seminal coffee blend that made Starbucks an icon. SBUX's thoughts would be appreciated.

I drink this every morning, and try other coffee's regularly. When I come back to Pike place, I always regret not drinking it instead as my taste buds are aroused in ways other coffees could not do for me. Such a full flavor that hits many subtle notes.

I don’t know how SB does it, but they always have me with their coffee. Rich and bold but smooth and delicious. We love this coffee!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The aroma from the grounds was nice but upon brewing the coffee it was even better. The coffee taste was rich yet balanced and had just a touch of bitterness. It wasn't overpowering and tasted amazing.
