New formula horrible

Have used this conditioner for many years, but will have to discontinue buying it as the new formula is terrible. It does not condition hair. You have to use a huge amount just to work through your hair, and then it rinses completely away like water. No detangling, softening, or conditioning at all. Such a shame that companies keep cheapening formulas to increase their earnings. I will avoid selecting an alternate conditioner from L'Oréal or any of the 100's of brands they own, as this is a strategy they employ across many brands/product lines, and it hurts consumers.

New formula is worthless!

When this conditioner was yellow (old formula) it saved my color treated hair and made it soft and repaired it. I loved it and recommended it all the time. It was by far the best conditioner I had ever used. The new formula (white) is horrible! I am soooooo bummed. I am now on the hunt for a new conditioner. I bleach my hair and it used to be soft and you'd never know I color treat it with the old formula. Now using new formula it feels super dry and crackly :(

It's a new formula, not the old GREAT one....

Lots of others are as disappointed as I am that L'oreal decided to completely change the formula for this conditioner. I've used it since it came out and absolutely LOVED it, but also notice the new formula absolutely lacks the good conditioning that the old formula provided. Dear L'Oreal, it's NOT that it NO LONGER WORKS for us (see all the responses from you), but it's a completely different product? PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD formula and create a new and separate one from this new formula. Very disappointed.

Hi there! We wish you could see the results you were hoping for with the Total Repair 5 Repairing Conditioner. Formulated with up to 9% Repair Concentrate with Protein for silky, healthy-looking hair. Its not too rich nor too light, get intense care without the weigh down. For more intensive conditioning, use the Total Repair Extreme conditioner.

Formerly Amazing, currently highly disappointing

I am a long time user of this product; ever since I found it more than 10 years ago it has been a mainstay of my haircare routine, helping keep my afro beautiful and manageable. Unfortunately sometime over the last year the formula changed noticeably, and went from making detangling an easy task to just another average conditioner. Everything about the new formulation is immediately noticeable - the color, consistency, and feeling of the product is nothing like it used to be, the smell has changed (admittedly not the major calculation in choosing/not choosing this product), and the way it feels working through your hair is completely different. As others have said, I too noticed that I used to be able to detangle after simply putting it in but now even after wetting my hair and even pre-conditioning and letting it sit, it is still far less effective than the original formulation. I still have several bottles of the old formula and can clearly tell the difference, and the best way to get the most out of the new formula is to cut in some of the old, but what's the purpose of buying it if I have to do that? Looking at the ingredients list shows clearly the new formula reduced/eliminated several of the ingredients that did the heavy lifting in the original formula, to say nothing of the switch from ceramide to the so-called protein repair concentrate (not a scientist so whether this is a new way of saying ceramide or a cheaper formulation I cannot say, but it certainly doesn't feel like the product contains ceramide anymore). Terrible terrible product as it stands today. If you want something approaching the prior formulation, try the total repair power restore product, which actually, in looking at the ingredients and judging by how it works/feels, seems to be basically the old total repair 5 conditioner formula in a new package that can be sold at a premium. Disappointed in what's happened to a formerly amazing line of products.

They've changed it. New formula is horrible.

Sometime over the last couple of months they changed the formula. The old formula was fantastic; It detangled magnificently and was easy to get a comb through when still wet, and looked great when dry. With the new formula, it barely detangles at all and is very difficult to get a comb through when wet. Huge, huge step backwards, I can't imagine why they did this or who in their right mind thought this was a good idea. They've ruined a once-great product.

Hi bfs68, It is possible that minor changes have been made in the formula of a product; however, the performance should meet or exceed previous results and may not be noticeable at all. We make every effort to provide the highest quality products for our consumers and want to know whenever a product does not meet your expectations. Thanks for sharing your experience.

New formula with 9% protein sucks

The new formula sucks!!! I LOVED the old repair conditioner. Smelled fantastic and made my hair silky. The new formula feels like liquid starch in your hair and does not feel like a conditioner should. Very unfortunate. My hair is harder to detangle and is less silky with the new product. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the old product and sell this 9% protein version as a separate conditioner.

Please bring back old formula

I've used the product for a long time and it was perfect. Perfect. The new formula is awful. The first time I used it I thought I mistakenly put shampoo in my already shampooed hair. I have a lot of terrible things to say about it but instead I ask-please bring back the old formula. It is a lot of work for a woman with textured hair to find the right daily conditioner. I don't know if the new formula is due to innovation or budget-but I will pay more money to get the old formula back.

Hi Jadd! Thank you for sharing a review regarding the Total Repair 5 Conditioner. We are sorry you are not satisfied with our new formula for this product. There are different reasons why a formula might be changed; availability of ingredients, changing industry requirements, and product improvements are common examples. We are genuinely concerned with the quality of each product we manufacture and want to know whenever there is a problem. We appreciate your honest feedback and your comments will be forwarded to the those in our company responsible for this product group. We truly appreciate your interest in L'Oreal.

New Cheap Formula Causes Hair to be Dry and Greasy

Old formula was incredible, felt like a salon-quality product and left hair shiny, silky, and looking good for days. New formula feels like a discount brand and leaves hair dull, dry, and now greasy within a day. I have some of the old left and tried them "side by side". The difference is so obvious, and the ingredients list is not even close to the same. Many ingredients removed in the new formula. Will not buy again.

The new formula does not condition

I have used this conditioner for years. It was my all time favorite but the formula change has brought it from the first to the worst. I cannot even get it through my hair in the shower without ripping hair out. My hair is frizzy and unmanageable almost like I didn't use any conditioner at all. It is that bad! Please bring back the old formula. This stuff is horrible.

Love!

This product is amazing!!! I love the smell!! I wish you made more products with this scent! I plan to replace all my other conditioners with this because I love the scent so much! I can't believe the other reviews complaining about the scent lingering! That is why I love this product so much! Get a nonscented product if you have allergies! Let the rest of us smell good!
