I wanted to be able to compare after the recommended time and see if there would be a noticeable difference. I'll share my results in a minute, but let me fill you in on the Silk Expert!!! I have wanted to try a hair removal system for the longest time. I especially wanted to try it on my face (upper lip/chin). I was quite disappointed to read that it was not to be used on the face. I've seen some info on the internet that said it can be used on the face, so I found this confusing. I am still unsure of the answer. That being said... the product is extremely easy to use. The first time I tried it, I experienced a little pain, but after just a few tries, it was relatively painless. I tried the Silk Expert in gliding mode. It is important to note that you need to take your time on this. It is not a long process, but if you go too fast, you will miss hairs. I've used the product about once a week for the last 8 weeks. The directions state that it can take up to 12 weeks to see results, so as I am writing this, I am not yet finished with the full process. So with that in mind... here is my findings. While I feel that the hair on my leg is growing a little more slowly, I'm not able to say for sure if this will be a permanent solution. I plan to continue using the Silk Expert until I see the desired results!

I am noticing that I do not have to shave as often. I used to shave my legs every day and I'm now able to do them every other to every three days. I'm hoping that after a few more uses it will be once a week. I really like this and think it's worth using.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have just gotten the Gillette Silk expert free from Braun to try. I have used it 1 time. I will write another review after a few weeks. I love the way it looks. The instructions are simple to follow. So I am ready to go. I shaved a small section of my leg and tried it. Waited 24 hours as instructed. No reaction. I shaved my legs and armpits and tried it out. It was simple to use on my arm pits. The regular setting was great. Just took a couple minutes. It was warm but didn't hurt. On to the legs. It was bulky and difficult to get started around my ankles at first but once I found a position that worked, it was great. I had to switch it to gentle for my knees and behind my knees. I found it was faster to push the button each time rather than hold it down. By the time I finished my first leg, my hand was tired. I think it would be better if it was slightly smaller. Overall, it was easy to use and fairly gentle. Now I am waiting to see the results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had never heard of this device before and was curious to learn more about it. It looks very professional in the box. I made sure to read the instructions thoroughly. I seem to have the perfect hair type for this treatment based on the instructions. You need to shave the area first before treating, I am glad I read this as if I hadn't of read the instructions I probably would have attempted to use it straight out of the box on unshaven areas. I shaved my legs below my knees and made sure they were thoroughly dry, i was really nervous to use the device, as I was expecting it to hurt on contact. I actually felt nothing, although I did notice a slight burning smell - not sure what exactly was burning!!). I used the glide method on both legs, occasionally the device didn't make full contact so the light didn't activate. It says to look away from the bright light, which makes it slightly tricky to make sure you aren't doing the same area twice. I waited one week before shaving my legs again, was there a difference? Part of me wants to say there was a little less hair growth, but I think after only one use I was probably imagining it. I used it the second time and wore my sunglasses, so it was easier to see which areas I had covered, again I felt no pain or tingling at all, and no redness. I didn't notice any burning this time, so that may have been a first time usage thing. I will continue to use the device each week for the next 8-12 weeks and then will report back on the results

However, with Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun I was pleasantly surprised. My initial review stated how easy the Silk-expert was to use and I still agree with my original thoughts. This is due to the fact that there is not assembly or cartridge, it's really light weight and you don't have to think about which intensity you need to be at in order to effectively use the machine. I've been using the Silk-expert to remove underarm hair for about 5 weeks now and the results are incredible. I actually started seeing results after the 3rd week of use. I noticed that my underarm hair was taking longer to grow. Now I'm at a point where there are only a couple of stray hairs growing. I'm so happy that I was able to test out this product! I also want to mention that anyone who is going to use the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun needs to shave the area they will be using it on. This step is crucial to the Silk-expert working. This is because the laser pulses need to catch the hair in an active growth phase in order for it stop the growth. If you have never used a laser hair removal system I should note that there is a "zap" when you activate the machine, which might slightly hurt depending on the intensity the silk-expert needs to kill the hair follicle. Personally, I've used both at-home and spa laser hair removal systems, which hurt so much more than the Silk-expert. With the silk-expert I felt more of a warm sensation than actual pain.

Ok-- so I have to admit Im a little nervous. The box arrived the other day and I was excited! I opened and thought that the devise was cool looking . As I was reading the pamphlet, I have to admit that I was a bit nervous -- was this going to hurt?, am I going to hurt my eyes? burn my skin? So finally today, I did my "2 pulse trial test. I did feel "something on the first pulse. And then I felt a burn sensation on my next pulse. Fast forward 2 hours, and I can still feel a tingling sensation. I admit that I am apprehensive about having this feeling all over my entire leg when I commence the next phase (the trial 2-pulse test was to see if I have any reaction to it in the next 24 hours). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As someone who barely finds enough time or has enough mental capacity to remember to shave both legs in the shower this is going to be a true gift down the road when the need for shaving diminishes to only occasionally for maintenance. The packaging was great and I appreciated that the instructions were very clear. I did watch a few videos online so I would know what to expect. I only started on my underarms as I was a little scared off by the warnings about having skin exposed to the sun....and it is summer and my happy place is the pool. But I am looking forward to testing on my legs soon! One of the warnings talks about not doing the treatment while you are pregnant -- while I am currently not pregnant it isn't something all testers should be aware of.

I can see a very noticeable difference between the leg I've been using it on and the one that I haven't. While I'm not hair free on the right leg, there is significantly less hair than the left and I can only imagine it will continue to lessen as I use the device! The Silk-expert has been painless and pretty quick to use once I got the hang of it! There are a couple of things that I wish were included with the Silk-expert- -Sunglasses! Even though the light is supposed to be safe, I wore sunglasses when I used this because the light is SO bright! Even when I looked away it seemed too bright out of the corner of my eye. -Storage and protection. I really wish this came with a protective cap for the active end of the unit. I was concerned about damaging it so I kept it in the box it came in which is HUGE and made storing it difficult. A protective cap and a cute storage bag would be great! I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a simple to use product to reduce hair growth. I personally can't wait to start using this on BOTH of my legs! :) I did receive this for free from Braun in exchange for an honest review :)

This is a lot larger than it looks in the advertisements, however I did not think it was heavy. After reading the instructions I was a little afraid to use it, as all the warnings scared me. When j first tried it I put it on gentle, I could not feel a thing! Going on to the second leg it felt warmer against my skin but that was all. I am used to having to shave every other day no matter what, it has now been 4 days and there is very little new growth as of now. I believe this is a product every woman should own, I had no itching or redness after using the product, when I get my eyebrows waxed I never swell or get red either so I can't say for sure if it is my skin or if the product would be irritating. The picture shows my leg 5 minutes after treatment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first heard about this product I was so excited to try it, I mean who doesn't want to "not" have to shave so often or even at all. It's simple enough to use, with easy to follow directions. It really does have an intense light flash so be prepared for it as it can be blinding. Product itself was not really what I expected and thought that I'd have better results. My hair on my legs are very fine and if I do t shave, it's not visible to the human eye. So, my first couple of uses, I felt like there's a delay between when you push the button for the intense light pulse that there would be spots missed. Also, please be advised that you must be freshly shaved! It was maybe the 3rd day, so there was barely hair, but when I used it on my legs I literately felt like I was getting shocked! If you have hair it will burn the hair (I could smell it) and you'll feel intense heat like you got burned. I continued to use for several weeks, but barely noticed a visible reduction in hair growth. There were some areas with no hair and areas with hair, I'm honestly assuming those were the areas where there is a delay when pushing the button. Personally, I did not find this product helpful or useful to me. It may work better for someone else, but not for me.
