This works!

I'm not usually one to review items, but have had such a good experience with this one, I thought I should. I have very sensitive skin, and shaving always irritated my legs and left them red and bumpy. I'd need to shave again in 3-4 days and it was hardly worth it...not like I really wanted to show off red, bumpy legs, so I gave this a try. I've had it for about a month, and have used it once a week after shaving, as directed. My legs are staying smoother longer...about a week, and I'm getting less irritated from shaving, I think because the laser is slowly making the hair finer and less coarse, and thus, easier and less irritating to shave. Definitely worth the money!!

Gillette Venus Silk Body Hair Removal System

My Mother was having carpal tunnel surgery and asked for a safe product that would remove hair since she could not use a razor for a while. Gillette was a name I trusted for my own shaving needs and it is completely safe - simply follow the directions. Since the literature says it also reduces the rate at which hair grows back I think she may use it even after her hand heals. She reported no pain in using it just heat, when the light pulses - it looks like the flash of a camera. I hope all find this review helpful.

I love it! The results really do occur but not right away. I love the feeling of not having to shave. Especially, for us women shaving is like a chore. I defiantly recommend to any buyer who is considering on buying this product.

Excellent Product / Excellent Results

I purchased the BD-5001 a few months ago and have now used it for 8 weeks in a row. I have had exceptional results. I have to admit, I was skeptical about using a hand-held in-home device compared to professional laser treatments (which I've had in the past) but thought it would be worth a try particularly given the cost of going to a clinic. I treated my underarms and have not had to shave at all for the past 4 weeks as I've had no regrowth. I've had professional laser treatment on my legs many years ago but the Braun unit has eliminated the remaining hair. Same goes for my arms. The jury is still out on the long-term but this unit is easy to use and surprisingly powerful.

Great product

It works great, just like some of the reviews I read. I am already seeing results. The hair is coming back slower and it's real fine. Some places no hair. It doesn't hurt at all and thos product is cheaper than what it cost to get treatments at a Dermatology office.

Better than those expensive sessions.

Value is 5 because I think it is more cost effective than those expensive sessions. Quality is 5 because the product and package does feel like a premium product. After 3 weeks, once per week, doing on my groin, I believe I am already see the difference. And it is impressive result comparing to the 8 expensive sessions I had years ago on my groin. To newcomer, yes it hurts, and no, it won't hurt as much as those expensive sessions because you can stop it without feeling embarrassed that you cry like a baby. VERY IMPORTANT! First I only flash once all over my groin to build my pain tolerance. Then, I do double flash over the same area again. I am already seeing result that is better than my expectations. Do not recommend to do triple flash and burn yourself (unless it doesn't really hurt you). The product is designed to burn the hair follicles, not your skins. You want to do this weekly, instead of waiting for skin to heal due to over flashing. This is where the difference between the clinic visit and doing it yourself. They burn a lot in one session and requires you to wait for the whole month to recover, aside from hair growth cycle. When you do it yourself, you burn less and do it more often. Just take your time. Flash once, felt hurt a bit, rest few seconds until you are ready. No need to torture yourself, there is no rush.

Hairless

I have used just 3 times, results are amazing. I am 59 and a couple years ago I got massive chin hair, always so upset about trying to go out daily and plucking daily and stubs in between, After 1 treatment I only had to pluck about 8 hairs, 2nd treatment just a few, I also did upper lip and in front of my ears for complete face hair removal, IT WORKS. I also did another promblem area bikini line and I am seeing good results, I also did my arms, HAIR FREE. I have not done my legs, just so happy to have my areas done that bothered daily living.

Wait for it... No, really.

I paid over $400 for this IPL for my wife. My review was NOT collected as part of any promotion. The fact that I'm $400 lighter in the wallet makes me wish I were part of the free "test group," but having paid full price also would seem to make my opinion more trustworthy... at least in most folks minds. At any rate, I figured I'd review this IPL because I decided to "try" it out on myself first, because of the many reports of the "rubber-band like popping sensation" many are reporting ILP's create. I simply didn't want to hand my wife a present and say, "Happy Birthday Honey! Sorry for all the pain you are about to inflict on yourself!" I'm not into the whole "pain-feels-good" thing, and neither is she! Next, let me say that if you don't have time to read a lot of IPL reviews, you don't have time for this product. This is NOT an instant "WOW! I'm hairless!!!" situation. It takes time and a whole heck of a lot of patience... BUT it does seem to be working, at least for the most part. Please allow me to explain... So, first you shave (some recommend shaving a day or two before you use it so you can see a little stubble) and then you dry the wherever part of your body you want to treat. Then you simply get away from any water (a well-lit bedroom is ideal) and plug in the power supply to a typical outlet (it looks like a laptop power supply). Next, you simply plug the IPL into its power supply. The two little blue [sensor] lights come on, the little fan starts up, and you are good to go. It really is just that simple. To be completely honest there is some discomfort while using this device. The IPL creates an intense flash of light. There is no impact, but there is HEAT, because that's how an IPL works. There, the simple truth. Because there is a flash of heat (let's call it discomfort) I would recommend starting out testing this on a body part that is less sensitive, like say... your legs, feet, or hands. I don't recommend going strait for the pits, tummy, or even MORE tender areas... but that's just my opinion. Get a little used to the heat sensation, then get more brave is my suggestion! NOTE: I have noticed if I push down a little harder there is less discomfort for some reason, and lightly rubbing the area after the flash seems to help some too. Now, some really personal, honest, and plain talk... I have now used this IPL everywhere on my body that grows hair below my ears. I got really sick two summers ago, and having someone at the hospital either have to shave me (or even worse... simply apply adhesive bandages all over my thick hair) is often worse than having the needles stuck in my body. I decided hairless wouldn't be such a bad way to go (it's cleaner too) so I've now used this IPL extensively. That being said, I'm now about a month-and-a half into the process. I still have to shave a little, but it's more fuzz shaving instead of piano wire shaving. The dark, thick hair is gone, I have much less stubble, and the stubble that is there is much lighter in color. My skin also feels smoother after I do spot-shave. That's all very nice, in my humble opinion. I have NOT shaved my arms or my legs now in weeks. All I do is when I see or feel dark stubble growing, I get the IPL out and treat those exact areas. The dark hair is now sparse enough where I can zap it without having to be concerned with over-treating any specific area. I have also gotten more used to the sensation of the heat, and it doesn't bother me much at all any more. That being said, I have always been able to dry shave without getting razor burn, so that's probably a factor too. AGAIN, this took a lot of my time. I cannot stress enough that this is an investment in TIME and MONEY. I was over a month into treating myself before I really said, "Hey, I think I kinda like this thing!" It's hasn't been an end-all, but it has taken me back to when I was about twelve years old on the body-hair scale. The peach fuzz I'm left with, the greatly lessened shaving time, and the smoother skin after I spot shave, have made this IPL worth the investment [to me] so far.

Maybe 50% reduction after 12+ uses

I bought this product quite hesitantly as it is not cheap and most reviewers had only waited a few treatments to share their experience. I'm at treatment 14 currently, having used this once a week, about half an hour each treatment. I still definitely need to shave as about half the original amount of hair still grows. These results haven't changed noticeably since about week 7-8. The skin does feel less prickly as a result of reduced hair growth, which is currently the main benefit I've experienced after roughly seven hours spent on use, with no end to needing weekly treatments in sight. Unfortunately I definitely can't give a rave review.

I have been using this every week for the past 11 weeks, and there is absolutely no change what so ever... I am so sad to have spent this much money on this product...
