It made the hair take longer to grow but it did not permanently stop the hair growth.

I was very excited to get this as a gift!!! I hate shaving and always wanted to do laser. Unfortunately I either got a dud or it just doesn't work :-/ I was really hopeful for this product! I didn't even keep it

Before Silk Expert, had to wax legs + bikini + pits every few weeks especially during 'bathing suit season.' Now all areas stay hair free for months! After regular use, what hairs do pop up are baby fine. I'm able to literally go months (plural) with no hair, which is especially great during the summer when those areas get exposed. Go on a 2-week beach vacation & not worry about needing to de-hair? Yes Please.
The GOOD: When used as recommended it works great! Most hair is gone for good & the few that come back are much finer (less visible) softer (no itchy grow back). You can be hair free for months. It's well made, sturdy & lasts for years.
The BAD: It is not entirely pain free, although not really any worse than waxing. If you have a low pain threshold, the 'feather' setting helps. The UGLY: It's not inexpensive. Definitely less than laser treatments. Given how long the Silk Expert works (I've had mine for several years) it pays for itself especially if you're getting professional wax treatments. It would take a lot of razor blades to equal the cost, but then you're not going to have to shave every day!
Medium/dark complexion + medium colored hair to remove. Hair "everywhere else" is blonde.

My favorite part is that the hair falls out no matter the length! The directions say to be hairless when you start. But I was lazy. I love showing my friends how easy and painless the entire process is. And now how you don't really need to be hairless though it may be better if you are!

A few touch ups now and then, but WOW! I would recommend this to anyone who ever thought of laser hair removal, and those who never thought about it.

It is not for use on recently tanned skin, which was somewhat disappointing but my tan is finally fading & I'm ready to start using the Silk Expert powered by Braun IPL hair removal device. I can tell you the packaging was nice & the actual device feels nice in the hand, it's not too heavy. I am looking forward to using this with the hopes of eliminating shaving from my daily routine, I will update after 2 weeks of use.

New growth is finer and takes much longer to grow back. It did not hurt me at all. I have very pale and dark hair and I believe that I am the ideal candidate for IPL hair removal. I am so happy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to mention first that I have done IPL at local salons for my bikini area in the past with good experience, so I did not hesitate to try Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) for my legs. In fact, I had high expectations because of my past experience. My skin is medium in tone and my hair growth is thin to medium. On my legs, I normally use hair removal creams and once in a while I use a razor if I am short on time or to take care of particular spots. Over the years of using hair removal creams, I've noticed the hair on my legs grows in patches, looks odd, but I can't complain about less hair! For my underarms, I normally tweeze (is that weird)? I used to use a razor but after years of tweezing, hair grows back much thinner and there is only a fraction of hair I used to have. I initially tried the Silk-expert on the back of one of my legs just to make sure there are no reactions. There weren't any so I went ahead to do my entire legs the next day. At first I felt tiny pinches, but after a while I didn't notice that anymore. The treatment window is a nice size, not too small so as to make the process take too long but not so large as to be unwieldy. The knee area was tricky because of all the curves but I just decided to skip that area after all because I hardly have any hair there. I repeated the treatment weekly on my legs (6 weeks now) and I have noticed that hair growth has slowed. I can't tell if the hair has thinned because it was already thin but for sure it is growing back more slowly. Now on to underarms...I felt some discomfort when using the Silk-expert there. My skin is more sensitive and I felt little stings. Since the areas are so small, the discomfort didn't last long but honestly after 4 weeks, I decided not to use the Silk-expert there because it didn't seem to be worth the time, effort, and discomfort because I don't have much hair to begin with. I think my underarm hair grew back more slowly but I am lucky it always grew back slowly so the small improvement wasn't that big of a deal. Perhaps for others with more hair there or thicker hair, it would be more beneficial. All in all, I am grateful to have Silk-expert to use at home. In my opinion, the results are almost just as good as what I have experienced in the salon, but without the hassle of leaving my house and having to reveal embarrassing hair to a technician. Plus the cost of the tool is far less than what a salon charges, plus you get to keep it and use it anytime you'd like.

The Gillette Venus Silk-expert I received free from Braun is a great concept, who doesn't want to be able to receive wax-like treatments at home for a fraction of the cost?! I will admit I was initially disappointed it can't be used on the face; however, it gives off a bright light so it's understandable. It was pretty much ready to go out of the box. I decided to use it on my under arm area. The product is a little big so I feel it's a better fit to use on legs, etc. I didn't notice a huge difference in my under arm area. I can tell where it's been used but there are also areas that seem to be missed - I attribute the size of the product to this. You do need to shave before use. Overall, I give it 3 stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Gone are the days of making waxing appointments and worrying about hygiene whether the wax is clean or the stick is clean, no more concerns of ingrowns thus resulting in painful boils and moreover saving all the waxing money. I am sold by how efficiently this device works. Having tried it underarms and on legs this works, have had no redness and very minimal hair growth in the past weeks. Have been using weekly since a month and I can claim that my hair has shrunk in size. My skin is not bumpy and has not shown any other ill effects which makes me happy. Infact my husband mentioned the other day that you look ready for summer with your waxed legs and I told him I did not wax and showed him how the IPL worked. As soon as he saw how easy it was he wanted to try it on his hairy chest btw it is not an easy job to convince him to try something especially that relates to his body and hair. So good job IPL in making me hair free and hopefully you will work your magic on the hubby bear (cause he is hairy like one and sheds like one too)
