However, with Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun I was pleasantly surprised. My initial review stated how easy the Silk-expert was to use and I still agree with my original thoughts. This is due to the fact that there is not assembly or cartridge, it's really light weight and you don't have to think about which intensity you need to be at in order to effectively use the machine. I've been using the Silk-expert to remove underarm hair for about 5 weeks now and the results are incredible. I actually started seeing results after the 3rd week of use. I noticed that my underarm hair was taking longer to grow. Now I'm at a point where there are only a couple of stray hairs growing. I'm so happy that I was able to test out this product! I also want to mention that anyone who is going to use the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun needs to shave the area they will be using it on. This step is crucial to the Silk-expert working. This is because the laser pulses need to catch the hair in an active growth phase in order for it stop the growth. If you have never used a laser hair removal system I should note that there is a "zap" when you activate the machine, which might slightly hurt depending on the intensity the silk-expert needs to kill the hair follicle. Personally, I've used both at-home and spa laser hair removal systems, which hurt so much more than the Silk-expert. With the silk-expert I felt more of a warm sensation than actual pain.

I can definitely see where the patch I was testing had less hair growth then the rest of my leg. I have noticibly less hair and the stubble is not as course as it usually is. The Venus Silk-expert is super easy to use, I can barely feel it, and it actually works! The only thing that is a concern to me is the bright, red flash, but I just try to look away as I'm gliding it over my leg. It is a little bulky, but it's not hard to hold on to, and I really have to concentrate on the areas I have already gone over as to not repeat the same stroke. I am convinced and I'm going to start using it on both legs.

This is so simple, especially if you've ever had laser hair removal from a spa/medical provider. The process will be familiar, but doesn't require appointments, a lot of money or to leave your house. It can be done on your time at your convenience. The device is not any more complicated than an electric toothbrush. In fact, it might be easier because you don't charge it. I initially plugged it in without reading the instructions thinking I had to charge it... but it's not wireless. It needs to be used dry and on hair-free skin, so it's not even like you have to let your hair grow first. Just shave like you normally would, and then treat. You don't have to worry about the exposure level because it adjusts automatically. If it's painful or too powerful, you can reduce it at the touch of a button, but that wasn't the case for me and I have very light and sensitive skin. I'm looking forward to noticing real results starting soon!

So far, so good on the intense pulse light. I thought that the install was easy and the directions were complete and easy to read and understand. I do wish that it gave an exact usage time. The directions say weekly. I wish I knew that for it to really work you need to use it 1x or 2x, etc a week. The first time I used it I realized that your skin needs to be COMPLETLY dry, mine wasn't and I got a little zap. The user also needs to make sure the area of free of hair. The glide motion for your legs is great. The life span to see if it works is 3 months, which is a little long but I am excited to see if it works. The act of doing the pulsing to prevent hair regrowth is about the same time as shaving.

I started reading the directions and was scared as to the pain I was going to endure. The process itself for the very first time was scary just anticipating the shock! But it was harmless. I've used the product for about three weeks and have not seen a change..however I have very dark thick hair and my skin is very white.

I was so excited to use this Gillette Venus Silk-expert. I took it out of the package and got a little intimidated! I've had professional laser hair removal so it didn't seem possible that I could do it myself. I buzzed through the easy to read instructions and found myself a little more confident. I prepped my skin with the included razor (bonus!!) I plugged it in and was ready to go. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use. My skin tone is very light so it was automatically set to the highest setting. I used the gliding setting and went up my leg in a breeze. The area around my ankle and knees were most "challenging" but even that was a breeze. If the contact area wasn't positioned correctly it turned red and I moved it slightly or pressed down a little firmer then it was ready to go. I would say it probably took 10-15 minutes per leg but that was mostly because I was going slower to ensure I did it properly. There was a slight pinch feeling when the laser zapped but it was minimal and if you have sensitive skin you can press a button to turn down the intensity. The lights on the side allow you to easily tell if you have good contact with your skin and adjust as needed. I would consider myself a novice at home treatments but feel as though this product was so easy anyone could use it.

Upon my first use I was quite impressed! I found the Gillette Venus Silk-expert by Braun very easy to use. I was nervous because I felt it might be painful but it wasn't at all. I have fair skin and brown hair and it worked very well. I will update after a few more weeks of use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hate to shave, so I was excited to have the Chance to try the new Gillette Venus Silk-expert! I was super impressed when I opened the box. It looks and feels like a solid and expensive piece of equipment. . I started by shaving both of my legs with the included razor. I decided to only use the Device on my right leg so that I will be able to compare the results at the end of the trial period. I held the treatment window to my leg and the LEDs lit all the way up, indicating a very light skin tone and the highest power setting. NOTE: there is a Gentle Setting you can also use, but I went with the automatically detected setting. You can hold down the button and it will flash every couple seconds or you can press the button for individual flashes. I used both methods depending on where on my leg I was applying the device. The flashes are very bright, l and for the most part I only felt a little heat at the area but it was not painful for me. It only took a couple minutes to finish my leg and now about a half hour later I am not experiencing any negative side affects. I Really hope this Gillette device works as promised and will continue to use it weekly and will provide further updates!

I normally shave my legs, underarms, and bikini area but I have also tried waxing and epilating. The Silk Expert was very easy to use. After shaving, I just plugged it in and started using it. There is a gentle mode that can be used when you first start using it, however I just used the normal mode right away. Once the unit is lined up on my skin it would just flash and then I'd slide it up to the next area and it would flash again. When the light flashes, it feels hot for a fraction of a second. It can be a little tricky to line it up on hard-to-reach areas, especially around the ankles and the knees, but there are lights that show if the sensors are lined up correctly and they act as a great guide. When I first tried it, I did one flash on my leg as a test area and then the next day I did my whole lower legs. After the treatment, my skin didn't feel any different than usual. A week later, I did my lower legs again, my armpits, and my bikini area. I'm not sure if it's because I did my armpits and bikini area after my legs and the unit was already feeling hot, but it felt a little more intense than it did on my lower legs. Even so, it was just a little heat and then it was gone - much much less painful than waxing and epilating. My lower legs took about 10 minutes to do, and my armpits and bikini area took less than 5 minutes for both areas total. Weekly treatments may seem like a big commitment, but for 15 minutes to treat everything is definitely something I can swing. Overall, I'm super happy with this product and can't wait to see the results that come over time!

I have to admit when I started using it I was apprehensive about it working, much to my surprise though I no longer have to shave! At first it feels a bit uncomfortable but that passes quickly as I got used to the sensation. I have used it once a week for twelve weeks on my underarms. After just a few weeks of use I was already only shaving once a week instead of every other day. Since I was going on vacation and the directions are clear about not sunbathing for seven days after use I waiting on using it on my legs. I have used it for five weeks so far on my legs and I definitely see a difference. I am currently shaving my legs once a week instead of every other day so I know it is working.
