So far I am happy with the Venus Silk-expert IPL and excited to keep using it. The first thing I suggest is to read everything really well before starting. Don't just take it out of the box and start zapping yourself! For example I didn't realize I had to shave the area first before using the device. IPL is also not indicated for certain darker skin tones or for light color hairs. Another tip is to be careful and not look at the light when the device is activated. That pulse of light is really bright and a bit blinding. So I suggest to place the device , look away and then press the button to activate it. Just make sure to read all the instructions and rules before starting. On my first go around I did my legs and underarms. I had never done this before so I jumped when the device zapped. I felt like a sharp zap and a hot feeling. It really was not painful but you do feel it. Once I did it several times it got easier, especially after I knew what to expect. That uncomfortable feeling only lasts seconds anyways so that is OK with me. I went slowly zapping section by section. It only took me about 7 minutes to do each leg. It is a bit challenging to remember exactly where I zapped previously but overlap of one or 2 pores shouldn't matter much I don't think. I am happy that I did not experience any redness after using the device. No other strange side effects either. It has been a week since I first used the device and my hairs are growing back out. I expected this though because the device has to be used weekly for a couple of weeks before you start seeing results. So don't expect to be hair free right away. I am a patient person so I will continue. It is so tedious having to shave every 2 or 3 days so this method is very worth it to me. This is much less painful than my epilator that pulls the hairs out. The device is fast and easy to use and the zapping feeling is tolerable for me. So I definitely will keep using it and I can't wait to see the results after a couple of weeks.

However, with Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun I was pleasantly surprised. My initial review stated how easy the Silk-expert was to use and I still agree with my original thoughts. This is due to the fact that there is not assembly or cartridge, it's really light weight and you don't have to think about which intensity you need to be at in order to effectively use the machine. I've been using the Silk-expert to remove underarm hair for about 5 weeks now and the results are incredible. I actually started seeing results after the 3rd week of use. I noticed that my underarm hair was taking longer to grow. Now I'm at a point where there are only a couple of stray hairs growing. I'm so happy that I was able to test out this product! I also want to mention that anyone who is going to use the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun needs to shave the area they will be using it on. This step is crucial to the Silk-expert working. This is because the laser pulses need to catch the hair in an active growth phase in order for it stop the growth. If you have never used a laser hair removal system I should note that there is a "zap" when you activate the machine, which might slightly hurt depending on the intensity the silk-expert needs to kill the hair follicle. Personally, I've used both at-home and spa laser hair removal systems, which hurt so much more than the Silk-expert. With the silk-expert I felt more of a warm sensation than actual pain.

The pulsating light felt warm with a little sting every time I pressed the treatment button. I became used to it very quickly though. The light is a little bright so I would not recommend looking at it directly. I used it once a week and noticed a significant decrease in the number of hairs growing back under my arms. It's so easy to use and I'm so happy that I don't have to shave every other day anymore. I can't wait to try it on other parts of my body.

I was given the chance to test the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert for free. This product promises to remove unwanted hair using UV light, similar to going to a hair removal place. I was very skeptical that this would work. How on earth could an at home product remove hair just like expensive treatments? Much to my surpise, it did work. Its pretty easy to do. However, it takes a lot of time. Patience is key. The first time I used it I went fast and missed a lot of places. The second time I used it I went much slower to hit more areas which seemed to work better. There are some issues. First - there's no way to tell what areas you hit or missed until your hair starts growing. Then the next time you shave its hard to remember what spots need to be treated. Second, the instrument needs good contact with skin. But as girls know that our legs contain many hard areas to hit (knees, ankles, ect) so it's hard to make sure you hit the spot. Third, the light is bright. You can't look at it directly which makes it hard to see what your doing. Lastly, it takes time. Put on a movie, sit, and go slowly. Its not perfect. But if your careful and take your time, this product actually works! And isnmich cheaper than getting it professionally done.

The main areas that I've used it on are my legs, underarms, and bikini area. After 4 weeks, I already saw a dramatic decline in hair growth. I barely have to shave before using it. I also made sure to use it once a week, as per the instructions. At the beginning, I definitely felt a bit of a sting when using it, but after a few weeks, I don't feel any discomfort. I have used the Silk Expert over a period of several weeks and am fairly impressed with the product. The device itself is somewhat heavy but not unwieldy and about the size of a rolling pin. I'm impressed with the results of the device - over a 3 week period, I have noticed fewer hairs and less noticeable hair where it has not gone away completely (I have light skin and dark hair, which is supposedly the combination the Silk Expert will be most effective on). I was initially concerned with the IPL technology because I didn't want to be causing myself undue skin damage, but everything I read indicates that (as of this time) it doesn't put you at an increased risk for skin cancer. The downside to the product is its initial cost, however it pales in comparison to the expense of repeated professional skin treatments. There is a learning curve, but it's not difficult to master. The process takes more time and care than shaving with a regular razor, but I believe it's worth it in the long run and I was grateful to have had the chance to try this product.

The package contained one Gillette Venus Razor, one hair removal device, and one power supply. I didn't experience any discomfort and have seen results right away. The light is a little warm against the skin, but it wasn't anything to be bothered by. You are able to get into the hard little areas with it. This a must for anyone wanting to get rid of hair.

Though it's still too soon to see results, initially I am very impressed with this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have now been using the Venus Silk-expert Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system for over 8 weeks now. I continue to be impressed with my results. It is safe, fast and effective. The system is super easy to use, straight out of the box. I just prep the skin before by shaving to remove any traces of visible hair, plug in the device and 3 bars will light up and you will hear the fan running. Then I press the treatment window against my skin and then the treatment button. The device will flash and you'll feel a warm sensation, continue moving the device along the skin until the entire area is treated. That's it! Since using this device for 8 weeks I've seen a great reduction in hair growth, not completely hairless but so much better. I will continue using this device each week until I'm completely satisfied with the hair removal. Overall this is the best device I've ever used to get rid of hair permanently!

I spend a lot of time in the sun so now that it's been raining for days I thought I would give it a go. I'm using it on my underarms and my husband's back. I think it mildly stings, a bit like a bee sting, but he seems to think its more painful. Regardless this is to be expected with this type of product. I haven't noticed a vast improvement in amount of hair, but haven't been able to use it as frequently as I would like because I am regularly exposed to the sun.
