My initial impression was that this was going to be a difficult item to use... it was intimidating. But... i was proven wrong. With only a few parts - the main unit and some cords - it was super simple. The instructions were clear and is was just as easy to use as set up. Put on your skin and press a button. I did have discomfort on the highest setting, felt like i was being "zapped" but once i changed the setting as directed in the instructions - it was fine. This was my first experience with this type of product and it was all positive. I hope the results are as good as i expect.

I just received my Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL and am super excited to use it. I've had laser hair removal done professionally in the past, and was happy with the results. It didn't completely remove hair, but did reduce it to a level I'm happy with. I'm hoping for the same results with this home version. I just started treatment and will review again in 12 weeks with results. This review will focus on ease of use. This IPL is VERY easy to use. It automatically detects your skin tone and adjusts the light intensity accordingly. There are built in safety features that prevent you from using it on skin that's too dark or without proper skin/IPL contact. There's a button to manually lower intensity if desired, and there's spot treatment or gliding option. There are no replacement cartridges, which makes this IPL a thriftier long-term choice. The device is very easy to use, treatment can be done quickly, and it's quiet. It's pain free on lighter hairs and very tolerable on darker, coarser hairs (think plucking with tweezers). I would advise wearing protective eye wear while using it. The flash is very bright, even when looking away, so better safe than sorry. I'll review again in 12 weeks with results!

I can see a very noticeable difference between the leg I've been using it on and the one that I haven't. While I'm not hair free on the right leg, there is significantly less hair than the left and I can only imagine it will continue to lessen as I use the device! The Silk-expert has been painless and pretty quick to use once I got the hang of it! There are a couple of things that I wish were included with the Silk-expert- -Sunglasses! Even though the light is supposed to be safe, I wore sunglasses when I used this because the light is SO bright! Even when I looked away it seemed too bright out of the corner of my eye. -Storage and protection. I really wish this came with a protective cap for the active end of the unit. I was concerned about damaging it so I kept it in the box it came in which is HUGE and made storing it difficult. A protective cap and a cute storage bag would be great! I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a simple to use product to reduce hair growth. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL device 5 times already. Once a week for 5 weeks. So far I am seeing really good results for my underarms. I have noticed much less hair growth in that area. I have also noticed a bit less hair growth on my thighs. The hair on my lower legs still seems to be growing out as usual though. I am definitely going to keep using the device. The instructions recommend up to 12 weeks of treatment. So I have about 2 more months to go. It is a little early to realistically expect greater results. But so far I am hopeful and things look like they are going good. I picked up some new tricks while using the device. I find the legs easier to do holding down the button continuously and moving the device to a new spot between zaps. Before I was moving the device and pressing the button over and over again. Keeping the button pressed is really faster and easier for the larger areas. That slight stinging and hot feeling is easier to deal with now also. It is not really painful but it is something you feel. I also now wear my dark sunglasses so that bright flash of light doesn't mess with my brain. It was actually giving me headaches on some days. So either look away or use sunglasses but don't stare at that light. So this IPL thing is going good for me so far. It is relatively easy to do, fast and not really painful. I do recommend this but only if you are a patient person. This takes time to see results so if you want something quick you may be disappointed.

I've spent time and money getting lazer treatments and this is similar from the comfort of your home! Pros: - I can see less hair/thinner texture after a few treatments - don't have to leave your house to get the results - comfortable feel to hold Cons - I have sensitive skin, so it is red and tender for a few days, like a sunburn. - is time consuming - very bright light - smell of burn hair is obvious Overall, I am pleased with the results so far!

Warming up does take a while - longer than I expected. However, once it's ready - the process is simple and painless. It feels warm in some areas when the flashes but I didn't feel any pain. I used the product on my legs and underarms and it took about 15 minutes for one treatment. The light is really bright so definitely heed the warning not to look directly at it. I have thick, fast growing hair and after 3 treatments, I have noticed that I need to shave less. I'm hoping that after a couple more treatments - the need to shave will continue to become less frequent. So far so good!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think the Gillette Venus Silk-expert powered by Braun is super easy to Use. After shaving the desired area, you just plug it in and go. I have been using it for several weeks and do notice fewer hair, but it takes 12 weeks to see full results. It really doesn't hurt but gives slight tingling sensations that take getting used to.

So far I have only done one area to start trying out Venus silk-expert. I chose to do a small area under my arms for my first try. It's very easy to set up just plug it in and you are all set to go. You do have to shave first before using and make sure the area is clean I got a shower shaved then treated. For smal areas you just place on area and push a button. It does warn you to close your eyes and look away because the light is very bright. It did hurt a little bit just a small little zap nothing major which it may not bother my legs but I did my under arms which is a more sensitive area. Took about 3 spots to do the area cause you don't want to overlap areas. That was it and you just repeat once a week. It was very easy to use just basically point and click. Can't wait to see the results after using for a while. I haven't tried the large area mode yet but I am looking forward to it and seeing the results.

Both Gillette and Braun are top companies in their field and they came together to form a new at home laser hair removal product. The silk-expert came in a beautifully packaged boxed. I immediately opened it and read all the instruction. I was excited to see that I fit perfectly into the ideal person for use (light skin with dark hair). The silk-expert, although a little large, fit nicely into my hand and was extremely light weight. I have used other at home laser hair removal devices in the past and I felt this was much easier to use, mostly because of the weight and the fact that there are two methods you can use (glide or sectional). The glide motion is ideal for larger areas such as legs. Previously, when I used an at home hair laser removal I would forget if I had done a section and sometimes re-treat it. I also love the fact that it has a "sensitive" mode - which if you're scared (like me) at first to use, it is a nice way to ease you into the product. I decided to test the product Braun had provided me with in my underarm area. Although I was hesitant to initiate the first treatment, I have to say it went smoothly. After the first "zap" I was well on my way to treating both underarm areas. The only issue I felt was with the size of the silk-expert head. I am on the petite side and the head sometimes was larger than the area I was working on so I had to maneuver it or my arm in strange ways for both sensors to allow activation. I use the silk-expert on sensitive mode the first time and felt no pain, only a warm sensation afterward. I also think I may have missed a patch of hair while shaving because after one activation I smelled burnt hair, which didn't alarm me at all because I had read this was normal. Another great feature is the fan that turns on when the light is activated, I personally felt this reduced the intensity conveyed on my skin. The technology Braun and Gillette came up with is also incredible. The silk-expert automatically detects the intensity it needs to successfully target the hair follicle to prevent growth. I can't wait to see the progress of the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert through the weeks and report back!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the Venus silk expert for about 5 weeks now and I have to say it is definitely easy to use. All you do it shave any hair in the area and clean the skin. Once finished you can do a short burst light, one at a time, for small areas like under arms or running bursts for large areas like legs. I found it easier to do short bursts around the ankles and then do the running burst on the rest of the leg. You feel a little warmth, but it is a painless process for the most part. My under arms were a little more sensitive but nothing major. As far as results go I have definitely seen a difference in hair growth but I do still have to shave a little bit. I think in a few more weeks I may be able to go to one treatment a month, but for now I still have to shave on occasion maybe once a week. I saw better results on my legs but I think the hair is thicker under the arms and am hoping it get better soon. However even if it doesn't it still reduces the amount I have to shave which used to be every other day to once a week so I am definitely happy. I still give the product a five rating because I am seeing results and even if it only lessens shave time I love it. I even have an easier time shaving without getting as many ingrown hairs and irritation as I used to which is a huge plus for me.
