I have started using the product on my arm pits. So far, I am loving it. I'm getting spa quality treatments right in the convenience of my own home. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, I've been dealing with a thick, dark body hair for as long as I can remember. The good news is that this Hair Removal System from Gillette actually works better if you have light skin (which I do) and if you have thick dark hair. Just like mine. As a disclaimer, I got the sysem for free from Braun in exchange for my honest opinion. The first thing you need to know is that because of the tone of your skin and the quality of your hair this machine will work better for some people than for others. As I'll explain below, it worked really good for me. You also need to keep in mind that it is not recommended to use this product if you are pregnant or after suntanning your skin. This last bit of information is crucial, because if it is the middle of the summer and you will want to use this machine on, for example, your legs, but will be exposing your legs to the sun on a daily basis, then, you may not want to invest in this machine unless you are willing to do it the safe way and avoid the sun. So, because it was summer here, and I knew my legs were getting tanned every day, I started using the system in both my armpits and my upper tighs. Those are actually the areas that I really wanted to try because they are very sensitive and shaving is a pain. The first time I used it, it was definitely painful. The machine emits light against your skin, and every time it does you will feel a burning sensation. The good thing is that there is an option to adjust the machine for sensitive skin and that definitely helped. The other good news is that by the second and third use it did not feel as painful at all. So, in terms of pain, I would not say that should not be a concern when purchasing this system. Another pro of this system is that is is really fast to use. Doing both my armpits and upper tighs did not take more than a few minutes each time and I used it only once a week, as per the instructions, so, it barely takes any time. After using this system for 8 weeks, which is the recommended period before you start just using it for maintenance purposes, my hair is not completely gone but amazingly almost all of it, specially in my armpits is. I would not say that what grows back is thinner or less noticeable but much much less actually has grown back. This for me is a huge plus, because first I think I will eventually have almost no hairs in the desired areas and second, it makes shaving easier and there is less ingrown hairs to cause issues. The price tag of this machine is not so low, but if you compare it to professional hair removal places, I definitely think it is worth the investment. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used silk-expert for the first time and it worked just like going to a professional for laser hair removal. I had profession laser hair removal done in the past and it was expensive. This product is a fraction of the cost. I am looking forward to seeing a reduced amount of hair. When using it, there is a flash of light and a slight tinge of pain, but it wasn't bad at all especially if you have had done wax or eppilator hair removal. That can be very painful. The silk-expert may more painful to some, but well worth it for a reduction of hair growth.

I have had both professional laser hair removal done and have also tried other laser hair removal home products in the past. There are a few things this Gillette model has going for it. It is a powered unit, meaning that you have continuous power the entire time you are using it. You don't have to worry about recharging the unit or delaying your treatment. That is great and makes it easy to complete the areas you are working on. The other good thing is that it is super easy to cover large areas (such as legs) because of the wide nozzle. It is also the first home laser hair removal I have seen adjust to your skin tone. It was very easy to use. Basically just plug in and you're up and running. The suggestions I have for improving this are a few. It would be great if the unit came with two nozzles...the large one it currently has (to cover those large areas) and also a smaller one. It is very hard to get the sensors in spots like your narrow ankles or other smaller areas that aren't as wide as the nozzle. So I would love to see that improved by offering two different sizes in the package. Another suggestion I would make is to have an on/off switch. It gets tiring after a while to have to constantly hold down the button in the glide mode. And lastly, they tell you to look away because of the bright light, but then you can't see what you are doing. So it would be great if they did include glasses or something. I just used my sunglasses so the light didn't bother my eyes, which are sensitive. And lastly, while I appreciate the safety aspect of the product, it would be great if you were able to turn it up to the highest setting manually, as I have a higher pain tolerance than most and could take more juice than they think my skin can handle. Overall, I am very excited to see the results I get on my legs, which I have always wanted to do. I like that you don't need to use a lotion or anything with this laser and also that it really doesn't hurt at all. I'm excited to report back after continued use to see how my results turn out. I have thick, almost black hair and pale skin, so I am a great candidate for this.

It comes in a great packaging and had a well documented, helpful manual. The setup is as simple as plugging the device into an outlet. The silk expert is easy to maneuver and has great safety features to ensure proper use. For sensitive areas such as the underarm I recommend using the lower setting to start, but for area like the legs I found it to be unnecessary. As this is a multi week program to see results, I'm excited to see less and less hair to remove! I received the Silk Expert to try in exchange for an honest review of the product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to try this free product I received from Braun. First of all, the set up is very easy and also easy to store. The manual included was very straightforward, but I must say the safety warnings in there were a little too much. It took me a week to start because I was scared to try it after reading the warnings. However, do be sure to read the manual because it does provide good safety precautions. I did perform the 24 hr patch test, and thankfully didn't experience a reation. I started on my legs first because I want to focus on that area and see the end results with this device. After my first full treatment I did experience a bit of tingle or mild stings but very tolerable. The device itself was very easy to hold however in the beginning I found it a bit tricky to go over the knee and near the ankles. After 4 treatments I have noticed my hair growing out thinner but still growing. Even though it is a very easy to use product and I have not experienced a bad reaction, I'm still neutral about this device as far as results go but looking forward to see what the end results are in the next 2 months!

I have always been curious about products like this but the price always deterred me from buying it! I am not seeing much results so far but it is a long process to get the results I am looking for. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will admit I've become extremely lazy when it comes to shaving my legs so I was pretty excited to try the Venus Gillette Silk Expert IPL which was sent to me free by Braun. The instructions were very easy to follow . The only prepping you need to do is to shave prior to using the IPL system. The device has two modes. One which is for gliding , such as on your legs . The other mode is for spot treatment which I used on my knees. The device warms up a little and when using it feels like a tiny zap. By no means uncomfortable . It also let out a burned scent however that decipitated quickly. The instructions indicate that you'll see results in as little as eight weeks . Once again , thanks to Braun for this free device . I'm very excited to getting back to you all with my eight week results .

And I know that the initial instructions said it will be a few weeks before I start noticing results. It is not hard at all to set up - you literally plug it in, press the button, & go. However, you aren't supposed to go over the same area twice, but in order to get the thing to lie flat enough on some areas I have to turn it, which doubles up on an area I already did. It has taken some getting used to. My skin is super pale and my hair is super dark, so the power scale shoots up which is a tiny bit scary, thinking that I'm going to set myself on fire somehow. But using it is actually really easy, aside from what I stated above. It does take some time, so I have started with just my lower legs. If it does work I will do other areas!

I have been using it for five weeks and I havent noticed a difference yet. I have only been using it on my armpits, but I am pretty disappointed.
