So far, so good on the intense pulse light. I thought that the install was easy and the directions were complete and easy to read and understand. I do wish that it gave an exact usage time. The directions say weekly. I wish I knew that for it to really work you need to use it 1x or 2x, etc a week. The first time I used it I realized that your skin needs to be COMPLETLY dry, mine wasn't and I got a little zap. The user also needs to make sure the area of free of hair. The glide motion for your legs is great. The life span to see if it works is 3 months, which is a little long but I am excited to see if it works. The act of doing the pulsing to prevent hair regrowth is about the same time as shaving.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having had professional laser hair removal on my upper and lower legs in the past, I have been looking for a way to deal with all the random stray hairs that are still on my legs without spending a ton of money - and the Venus Silk-expert seemed really interesting! I loved the fact that it has a pretty wide treatment surface and a glide mode. I really liked the packaging - made the product seem very high end. And I appreciated that they included a new razor and clear instructions for how to prep. I was a little disappointed to find out that the device doesn't charge but rather needs to be plugged in while you use it, but the cord is pretty long so that's not really too much of an inconvenience. I was putting off my first treatment because I had recently been on vacation in the Caribbean and I wanted to wait til all the color I got faded, but a few weeks passed and I realized it was time to try it. I'll admit that I was a bit nervous about how it might feel - and was surprised to find that it really didn't bother me at all! Definitely less painful than laser hair removal treatments. While my skin felt sort of "hot" (like a sunburn) for a few minutes after the treatment, it was gone quickly. It was also really easy to do - and as I suspected, the glide mode was really helpful for a large treatment area like your legs. Can't wait to see how the results work after the next few treatments!

I had profession laser hair removal done in the past and it was expensive. This product is a fraction of the cost. I am looking forward to seeing a reduced amount of hair. When using it, there is a flash of light and a slight tinge of pain, but it wasn't bad at all especially if you have had done wax or eppilator hair removal. That can be very painful. The silk-expert may more painful to some, but well worth it for a reduction of hair growth.

The hair growth is very light and I don't feel the need to shave them every time I jump in the shower. I still have no pain from the process and the more I handle the device the easier it is to use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really don't like shaving my legs. My hair grows quickly. It's dark. It's noticeable. I get razor burn on my bikini line. I received a complementary Gillette Venus Silk-Expert from Braun. The package contained the one Gillette Venus razor and one hair removal device. I typically use a Venus razor, but this one seemed to be “less fancy” than the version I use. I have never used an IPL device and I felt like the instructions weren't really clear. I typically do a treatment after I shower and shave. After plugging in the device you can hear a fan and see a light emitting. To use the IPL on my legs I'll hold the button down and just move it a few inches after the light emits. It does give you a little zap. It doesn't necessarily hurt, but it doesn't feel great, either. It takes me about 15 minutes to use the IPL on my legs, bikini line and underarms. I've been using the product for about 7 weeks now. I definitely notice my leg hair is growing in at a slower pace – and it is noticeably more sparse. One of the best changes is I do not seem to get ingrown hairs or razor burn on my bikini line now – yay! I am very excited about this product and am very happy with the results. I think this is a great option, especially for people with dark hair!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hate to shave, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to test the new Gillette Venus Silk-expert! I was impressed upon opening the box! This looks and feels like a serious piece of equipment! Its construction is solid and it appears to be a very high quality device. There isn't much that comes with it: the Silk-expert device, a two-part power cord (it has to be plugged in to use it), an instruction manual, and a Venus Razor. I prepped both of my legs by shaving them with the enclosed razor and patting them dry, however I only used the Silk-expert on my left leg so I will be able to compare the results at the end of the trial period! I plugged in the power cord, and the device powered on. It has its own internal fan and a row of LEDs on the side to measure skin tone and show the automatically applied power setting. I held the treatment window to my leg and the LEDs lit all the way up, indicating a very light skin tone and the highest power setting. NOTE: there is a Gentle Setting you can also use, but I went with the automatically detected setting. You can hold down the button and it will flash every couple seconds or you can press the button for individual flashes. I used both methods depending on where on my leg I was applying the device. The flashes are very bright, like a camera flash, and for the most part I only felt a little bit of warmth at the treatment site. A couple times I felt a very very minor sharp sensation, almost like plucking a hair, but not nearly as bad. I'm guessing that maybe there was a stray hair that I missed when shaving that caused the sensation, but it was not painful and did not concern me. It only took a couple minutes to do my left leg, and that's with me being very careful and going very slow to start. I'm now 15 minutes post treatment, no irritation, redness, or itching. I definitely have high hopes for the Silk-expert, and will continue to use it weekly! Just so you know: I received this product for free from Braun in exchange for my HONEST impression and review. :)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't quite sure what this product does or how to use it but the fact that it could be used to remove hair was enough of a selling point for me to sign up for this campaign. When it came, I felt like I had hit the lotto. I was a little disappointed after reading the instructions that it said you couldn't use on your face. I was hoping to get rid of some peach fuzz. When I took the product out, I had no idea what to do with it. I'm a person who normally doesn't read the instructions, but for this product I read the instructions about 5x and was still not exactly sure what to do with this time. It turned on easily enough. I decided to test it on my legs. The instructions suggested testing a small patch. I pushed the gentle button, which looks like a feather not knowing if I was going to be burned or having hair pulled out or what I should expect. I didn't really feel much. After a few tests, I decided to keep going. I believe I got the hang of it and did the bottom of my two legs. I can't speak to any kinds of results and I'm not sure how this will work but I will continue trying this out.

I treated just my lower legs to start, since it's the easiest place to reach plus the easiest place to tell if it's working. I swear the hair grew back a little slower than it usually does! Normally I can only go 2 days before desperately needing to shave again, but this time I went 3. I treated again today (week #2), and we'll see if the results are even better this time! I did feel a little stinging with the pulse occasionally, but it's not even as painful as tweezing a hair.

Maybe with the Venus Silk-expert, I have finally achieved that dream! Unfortunately, I have coarse, think hair on my legs. And it grows like a man's beard. I get five o'clock leg shadow by 8 a.m. the morning after I shave. I started using the Venus a few weeks ago. I shaved with the handy Venus razor supplied with the Silk-expert and then went to town zapping my legs. The "flash" is a bit bright, so I wear sunglasses when I use it and was glad I read the instructions, as "flashing" areas that are darker (such as scars) is a bit painful. As you cannot expose your treated skin to the sun for seven days after use, starting the treatment in the winter is perfect. By the time Memorial Day rolls around, I will hopefully be hair-free and ready for the beach.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got my free silk expert from Braun 3 weeks ago. It looks quite space aged! I read all the instructions and did a patch test. When I had no reaction I jumped right in to use it on my leafs, underarms and bikini area. The unit is really easy to use. If you use the unit for more than a few minutes it gets quite warm but not too hot to use. The only area I found I couldn't get the lights to illuminate so it was ready to use was in my knees and around my ankles. Other than that it's very simple and straight forward. I haven't noticed any difference yet with my hair growth, but the booklet says it can take a while. So I'm definitely going to keep using it as its so quick and easy to do.
