I was apprehensive before using it, and thought there was NO WAY that it would reduce my hair growth . I woukd normally shave daily, otherwise the stubble was noticeable not only to the touch but to the sight . I've been using this product now approximately 5 weeks , going on to six , and the results are AMAZING !! I've been able to easily go all week without having to shave. The hair has diminished greatly in such a short amount of time. Even the hair under my arms is starting to show less . I have raved to all my friends and coworkers to run out and by one . Definitely more convinient and affordable than going in to a salon to get it done . While I understand everyone's results will vary , I can honestly say that mine have been fantastic . Will continue to use it !! Thank you #Braun for making me one of the lucky individuals to have received it for free. I only have good things to say about this product . Love it !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I have only completed a total of 3 treatments. I do not plan on completing another treatment until the fall or winter due to the terrible reaction I had. I broke out in a rash, which is known as folliculitis. Some say this is how you know laser hair removal is working. The laser heats up the hair and travels down to the follicle killing it. It dies and can cause the hair follicle and surrounding tissue to get irritated and inflamed. The photo I have attached is 15 days after my 3rd treatment. The healing process is slow on me. You can't proceed with treatments if you have any sort of skin damage/discoloration because it can cause the melanin to darken and become permanent. It's mid-April and in the 80's where I live. I am too embarrassed to show my legs. It's my lower legs, so no capris, skirts, shorts, etc. I am wearing long pants to the gym. It kind of looks like I have scabies to an untrained eye. My skin is quite pale, so any type of discoloration from bug bites, nicks, scrapes, etc., last a while. It's annoying, but I'm used to it. I would like to tan, but I can't because that could also result in these spots becoming permanent. The bumps are very itchy until the hair follicle comes out. Yes, I scratched. I couldn't take it anymore. 24 to 48 hours after the 3rd treatment the rash developed and itched like crazy. A few more popped up after that, but not many. Be warned ladies! Don't do these treatments when you want to show your skin off. Obviously, I no longer have hair in those spots, so you can say the product works. Weighing the benefits with the risks, I would not recommend this product currently only due to the folliculitis. It's possible that not everyone has this reaction, but I wanted to make sure consumers were able to see the side effect for themselves. It's not pretty! It defeats the purpose of me wanting hairless legs.

Unfortunately due to the skin tone sensor technology, it wouldn't even register my skin tone. I have light brown olive skin tone - clearly before the darker tones that it doesnt recognize and it didnt work, my friend had much lighter ivory skin tone, tried it on her and also didnt work.

I had not hear of this product prior to receiving it in the mail but was so excited just opening the box and seeing how pretty it is. For anyone thinking about getting this product know that it's not an immediate fix to any hair growth and that it does take time. The instructions do say that it will take about 12 weeks of treatment and then monthly follow up. It's super simple to use and painless. It feels like I have a real spa service in my home.

The Gillette Venus Silk-expert I received free from Braun is a great concept, who doesn't want to be able to receive wax-like treatments at home for a fraction of the cost?! I will admit I was initially disappointed it can't be used on the face; however, it gives off a bright light so it's understandable. It was pretty much ready to go out of the box. I decided to use it on my under arm area. The product is a little big so I feel it's a better fit to use on legs, etc. I didn't notice a huge difference in my under arm area. I can tell where it's been used but there are also areas that seem to be missed - I attribute the size of the product to this. You do need to shave before use. Overall, I give it 3 stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Braun sent me the Gillette Venus Silk-expert hair removal device, and I was skeptical at first. I've tried professional laser treatments as well as many at home hair removal treatments, and all of them are either painful, impossible to actually do, or they don't work. I watched a short video on how to use the Gillette Venus Silk-expert device and read the instructions. Seemed easy enough so I gave it a whirl! I was really pleased, as it did not hurt one bit and was a breeze to use! The machine fits nicely into my hand and is foolproof, as it reads your skin tone and adjusts to match. It then emits the hair-removing laser, which feels like a tiny snap but nothing painful. I am in the early stages of trying this out, as you need to use it once per week for 12 weeks to see results, but my first response is two thumbs up based on the ease of use!

I have very dark hair so I am expecting that results will take longer than others. I am hopefully that with continual use I will start to see some major differences!

To start off I'll be completely honest, I have made several attempts at hair removal systems. I have tried hair removal lotions, creams, buffers and even waxing. Nothing has worked for me. I decided to use the new Gillette Venus Silk-expert on my underarms. After shaving and drying completely as instructed, I did a small sample test spot. It has been 24 hours and I have no reaction, redness or soreness. So today I did the entire under arm area. Feeling optimistic about the results. It is easy to use and small enough to handle without being bulky. I had not problem using it on my underarm in the mirror.

The main areas that I've used it on are my legs, underarms, and bikini area. After 4 weeks, I already saw a dramatic decline in hair growth. I barely have to shave before using it. I also made sure to use it once a week, as per the instructions. At the beginning, I definitely felt a bit of a sting when using it, but after a few weeks, I don't feel any discomfort. All in all, I would highly recommend this product. I received this product from Braun for my honest opinion.

First Thoughts:- Ease of use with almost zero prep works for me with the added bonus of names such as Gillette Venus and Braun gives me comfort in believing that the product should work. Unboxing and using:- In preparation of using this product I got out my razor and shaved my left leg and left underarm (lucky for me I am in Chicago, in middle of dead winter) the reason I did that is as I want to track the hair growth after successive treatments. I have been combing groupons to buy an IPL session for underarms and have chickened out at the last minute as my pain threshold is low and also due to the fact that the results are not promising. The fact that I do not need to get out of my house and go to a spa or doctor's office really works in the favor of the product as it can be time consuming and the places IPL is offered work only on one part of the body, where as with this device in the convenience of my bathroom I could take care of a leg and underarm in less than 30 mins. The device is plug and use with light pulses that atune to the color of the skin. I have medium light skin and dark hair but since I wax almost very quarter my hair growth is not too thick. I do get a lot of ingrowths which can sometimes result in very painful boils and that is the reason I was leaning towards getting hair permanently removed under the arms and half legs. Ease of Use:- Having seen the video and reading up on the product helped as I could use it out of box, but the instructions are simple to follow as well. I went to the very basic setting and used the gentle mode as it was my first time. Pain Factor:- I will not lie and say it did not pain, it almost felt like a slight sting, but nothing compared to the pain one would feel for laser treatments, the pain from this device is definitely more bearable. Safety Aspect:- The manufacturers were so thoughtful about adding a razor to the package as it was one of the first steps before using the IPL device but in my opinion adding protective glasses would as imperative as well since they do mention looking away while using it aka don't look at the light. The glasses would make this a safer device to use.
