I've tried professional laser treatments as well as many at home hair removal treatments, and all of them are either painful, impossible to actually do, or they don't work. I watched a short video on how to use the Gillette Venus Silk-expert device and read the instructions. Seemed easy enough so I gave it a whirl! I was really pleased, as it did not hurt one bit and was a breeze to use! The machine fits nicely into my hand and is foolproof, as it reads your skin tone and adjusts to match. It then emits the hair-removing laser, which feels like a tiny snap but nothing painful. I am in the early stages of trying this out, as you need to use it once per week for 12 weeks to see results, but my first response is two thumbs up based on the ease of use!

I've been lasering my underarms and forearms one a week like it said. I actually forgot to laser my forearms last week but still no hair grew back yet. This is so awesome and saves me money and trips to the laser spa and is also less painful. I'm going to start to laser my legs and eventually my whole body! I took one star away because I read that it only gives off a certain amount of laser beams and then the device does not work anymore. I wish they made a refillable cartridge for it so we didn't have to keep buying the machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Still too soon for results, but I like using it. I felt a little tenderness in my underarms and legs after using, but otherwise it wasn't bad. It can be hard to use because the light is so bright (need to wear sunglasses while using it!). My only qualm is that I have to wait 12 weeks in between applications, because I am so excited to see results and not have to shave! Also I hope this helps with ingrown hairs because I cannot stand them!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was over the moon to try the Venus Silk-expert and I've been diligent about using it. Once a week and only under my left arm so that I could compare it to my shaved right underarm. Early results were promising...my husband said he thought it looked like I had less hair on the treated side. That said, I can't really tell if it's working. I still see about the same amount of hair. I like how quick and easy it is to use the device. Literally 1 minute to plug in and stroke under my arm with the pulsed light. I feel a very subtle burning sensation, but nothing unbearable and I'm fine putting deodorant on immediately afterward. I haven't experienced any side effects. I will continue my experiment for at least another month and may try my legs too. I REALLY, REALLY hope to see the benefits. I would love to stop spending time and money on shaving. I would love not to worry that the nail tech is judging me next time I forget to shave before getting a pedicure!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I have only completed a total of 3 treatments. I do not plan on completing another treatment until the fall or winter due to the terrible reaction I had. I broke out in a rash, which is known as folliculitis. Some say this is how you know laser hair removal is working. The laser heats up the hair and travels down to the follicle killing it. It dies and can cause the hair follicle and surrounding tissue to get irritated and inflamed. The photo I have attached is 15 days after my 3rd treatment. The healing process is slow on me. You can't proceed with treatments if you have any sort of skin damage/discoloration because it can cause the melanin to darken and become permanent. It's mid-April and in the 80's where I live. I am too embarrassed to show my legs. It's my lower legs, so no capris, skirts, shorts, etc. I am wearing long pants to the gym. It kind of looks like I have scabies to an untrained eye. My skin is quite pale, so any type of discoloration from bug bites, nicks, scrapes, etc., last a while. It's annoying, but I'm used to it. I would like to tan, but I can't because that could also result in these spots becoming permanent. The bumps are very itchy until the hair follicle comes out. Yes, I scratched. I couldn't take it anymore. 24 to 48 hours after the 3rd treatment the rash developed and itched like crazy. A few more popped up after that, but not many. Be warned ladies! Don't do these treatments when you want to show your skin off. Obviously, I no longer have hair in those spots, so you can say the product works. Weighing the benefits with the risks, I would not recommend this product currently only due to the folliculitis. It's possible that not everyone has this reaction, but I wanted to make sure consumers were able to see the side effect for themselves. It's not pretty! It defeats the purpose of me wanting hairless legs.

I am not overly hairy but I have more than I'd like to have and always been very self-conscious. Now that Braun has given me the opportunity to try their product free, I cannot wait to get started! With the unboxing I thought that it was very nice. It looked expensive, well made...not too heavy and not too light. Wasn't sure what to expect when I used it the first time. It wasn't that bad. A tiny shock feeling but mostly warm. Occasionally I would hit a spot that must have been a little more sensitive but it wasn't terrible. After using, i didn't have any skin irritation, just felt like a very mild sunburn. It was very easy to use. As far as moving it around your area, you just have to find the way that works best for you. It is still early in the process but I can't wait to see the results! Yay!!

I think it helps with hair growth, but the flashing light and heat disturb me a little plus it saying not to use if you have had skin cancer implies it might encourage skin cancer. It's easy enough to use as far as following the instructions, but intense pulsed light still seems a little scary to me.

I had not hear of this product prior to receiving it in the mail but was so excited just opening the box and seeing how pretty it is. For anyone thinking about getting this product know that it's not an immediate fix to any hair growth and that it does take time. The instructions do say that it will take about 12 weeks of treatment and then monthly follow up. It's super simple to use and painless. It feels like I have a real spa service in my home.

I am no stranger to hairy issues as I have dealt with razor cuts, razor burn, and ingrown hairs just to name a few. I was ecstatic to receive my Gillette Venus Silk Expert in the mail. Upon arrival, the packaging for the actual product was superb. That may sound like a strange thing to say, but it is the first thing you see. First impressions can make or break a product and even decide whether or not someone will even buy it the box was so study and protective. I instictively associated this with a high quality product before even looking at the product. Upon inspection of the Silk Expert, it was larger than I expected. It seemed very durable as well. I was expecting to have to wait to use it until it was fully charged like mist electronics. Alas, all I had to do was plug in and could use it right away. After throughly reading the instructions, I began my initial use. I had freshly shave arm pits and bikini area. The Gillette Venus Silk Expert is easy to hold with its curved design and has enough weight to it that it doesn't flop around. The actual treatments give the slightest sting, if you can even call it that. I was expecting a little pain and was pleasantly surprised to feel the opposite. After a few pushes of the button, I was done. I actually reread the instructions as this seemed too easy. Nope, it really is that easy. I was done in less than 5 minutes.
