[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was happy to receive the Gillette Venus silk expert from Braun, free in exchange for a fair review. The box has a power cord, the device, a new razor (for shaving before treating) and the instruction manual. I'm glad it was lengthy buy it was quite lengthy. The device has to be plugged in to work and emits intense light to target the root of your hair follicle. I am treating my right leg and following my normal shaving routine on my left, to have an accurate comparison I used the glide mode, figuring it would be easier. The devise has to have direct contact with your skin so the glide mode is great for the flat parts of your leg. The target mode is better around ankles and knees. I did feel a slight warming sensation. Nothing to alarming. But afterwards I did experience some redness. Nothing to serious but as I said I have sensitive skin. I did opt to switch to the gentle mode half way through treatment and will use that mode for the next treatment. I did receive the device from Braun in exchange for a fair review. I have tried several hair removal products in the past and none compare to these results. After 5 weeks of treatment I have seen remarkable results. The area I decided to treat was my underarms. Before using this product I could easily shave my underarms daily, especially in the summer. After using this product I have been able to decrease shaving to twice a week and continue to see less hair after each treatment. I highly recommend this product as a hair removal system. Great job Gillette!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm excited to see how this all works out. I did the test area and then 24 hrs later I used the silk-expert on my lower legs. It was super easy to use and I did not feel a lot of pain. I know that other areas may be more sensitive, but I'm going to see how my legs work out first. The only complaint that I have is that the instruction booklet is a little hard to follow. I remember reading through bzzagent that I should not use the silk-expert more than once a week on a single location, but the instruction booklet does not say this. If once a week is a requirement, that should be clearly stated in the instruction booklet.

I have to admit when I started using it I was apprehensive about it working, much to my surprise though I no longer have to shave! At first it feels a bit uncomfortable but that passes quickly as I got used to the sensation. I have used it once a week for twelve weeks on my underarms. After just a few weeks of use I was already only shaving once a week instead of every other day. Since I was going on vacation and the directions are clear about not sunbathing for seven days after use I waiting on using it on my legs. I have used it for five weeks so far on my legs and I definitely see a difference. I am currently shaving my legs once a week instead of every other day so I know it is working. I am in disbelief that after all these years of shaving I am done! I highly recommend this product to anyone. thank you Brain and BzzAgent. This has actually been a life changer for me.

I used this for the first time this morning and I am very impressed with how simple, quick, and painless it is to use! The box comes with the Gillette Venus Silk Expert IPL device, a power cord, a Venus razor, and instruction book. The instruction book tells you exactly what skin tones and hair colors this will and will not work on (does not work on darker skin tones, or red, blonde, or gray hair), as well as a long list of "do not use if" items. It can be used on your face (below the cheekbones), bikini line, arms, under arms, and legs. The directions were simple and easy to follow, you just put it up to your skin and press a button for "precision" mode or press and hold the button for "glide" mode. There are 3 power settings: normal, gentle, and extra gentle. I've used a different at home laser hair remover in the past, and it was pretty painful in spots, but I used this in the normal setting on my underarms, bikini line, and legs, and there was no pain! There was occasionally a warming sensation, but nothing unbearable. The flash is pretty bright, but I just covered my eyes and turned my head away. That worked for now, but I may get some protective glasses in the future. The only thing I'm not really a fan of is the power cord. It is nice that you don't have to worry about recharging it, but it limits the places that I can use it. So far, I really like using it and I can't wait to see how it works over the next 12 weeks!

I just received my Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL and am super excited to use it. I've had laser hair removal done professionally in the past, and was happy with the results. It didn't completely remove hair, but did reduce it to a level I'm happy with. I'm hoping for the same results with this home version. I just started treatment and will review again in 12 weeks with results. This review will focus on ease of use. This IPL is VERY easy to use. It automatically detects your skin tone and adjusts the light intensity accordingly. There are built in safety features that prevent you from using it on skin that's too dark or without proper skin/IPL contact. There's a button to manually lower intensity if desired, and there's spot treatment or gliding option. There are no replacement cartridges, which makes this IPL a thriftier long-term choice. The device is very easy to use, treatment can be done quickly, and it's quiet. It's pain free on lighter hairs and very tolerable on darker, coarser hairs (think plucking with tweezers). I would advise wearing protective eye wear while using it. The flash is very bright, even when looking away, so better safe than sorry. I'll review again in 12 weeks with results!

I have had both professional laser hair removal done and have also tried other laser hair removal home products in the past. There are a few things this Gillette model has going for it. It is a powered unit, meaning that you have continuous power the entire time you are using it. You don't have to worry about recharging the unit or delaying your treatment. That is great and makes it easy to complete the areas you are working on. The other good thing is that it is super easy to cover large areas (such as legs) because of the wide nozzle. It is also the first home laser hair removal I have seen adjust to your skin tone. It was very easy to use. Basically just plug in and you're up and running. The suggestions I have for improving this are a few. It would be great if the unit came with two nozzles...the large one it currently has (to cover those large areas) and also a smaller one. It is very hard to get the sensors in spots like your narrow ankles or other smaller areas that aren't as wide as the nozzle. So I would love to see that improved by offering two different sizes in the package. Another suggestion I would make is to have an on/off switch. It gets tiring after a while to have to constantly hold down the button in the glide mode. And lastly, they tell you to look away because of the bright light, but then you can't see what you are doing. So it would be great if they did include glasses or something. I just used my sunglasses so the light didn't bother my eyes, which are sensitive. And lastly, while I appreciate the safety aspect of the product, it would be great if you were able to turn it up to the highest setting manually, as I have a higher pain tolerance than most and could take more juice than they think my skin can handle. Overall, I am very excited to see the results I get on my legs, which I have always wanted to do. I like that you don't need to use a lotion or anything with this laser and also that it really doesn't hurt at all. I'm excited to report back after continued use to see how my results turn out. I have thick, almost black hair and pale skin, so I am a great candidate for this.

It was very easy to use and lightweight which is a good thing for me since I have carpal tunnel, so it's hard to hold heavy things for a long time. It was very simple to set up and understand directions. I would recommend this product to anyone. I can't wait to see the final results

Presentation and packaging was beautiful! Excited to give it a go upon arrival! Used today for the first time on my legs, underarms, and bikini line. I used normal strength on legs and the gentle cycle on my underarms, and bikini line. Very easy to use! There was a slight warm feeling, but not uncomfortable . I also wore my sunglasses, as the pulseing light was bright. I may invest in darker protection sun glasses. Over all- quick and easy! Looking forward to seeing results!!
