ROKU Stick+

I like it. I purchased this to view tv in remote locations (like outdoors on our patio). Set up was easy. WiFi range is excellent. I like products that work well, are intuitive and easy to use, and have great features. - So, is ROKU pronounced ‘Row Koo' or ‘Rock You'?

Convenient & easy to use

Due to a power surge (even with a surge protector) our Phillips 4k smart tv component section is no longer working so we needed to upgrade from the box to the streaming stick. I bought the streaming stick that was 4k compatible and the picture now has amazing clarity and color. The convenient part is that the new Roku remote has the ability to turn our tv on and off, as well as to control the volume. If you have a 4k tv I would definitely recommend the 4k streaming stick.

Overheats within 20 minutes

This product has poor thermal design. After watching a 4K program for 20 minutes, I received a warning on my tv that my Roku is overheating. It's plugged into the back of my TV as it is designed to do. It's not inside of a cabinet and it has plenty of ventilation. I've had previous generations of Roku's and I've never had a problem like this. If they're going to sell my information to advertisers the least they could do is design a device that works properly.

Just Ignore the complaints

We've had ours for a couple years. It's a great product. Ignore the idiotic complaints. Most of them are not even actual Roku issues. I.e. “doesn't have a web browser”. Roku never said it did! So maybe do your own research first, don't blame the product. “Roku wouldn't connect”, that's a problem with your network. One guy “replaced the mother-board in his TV” ... are you serious? Hey... maybe next time try the Roku stick on a different TV first. We've been very happy with it, you likely will too.

Tech Support

I had problems with the account set up. I called the number on the brochure and the people could barely speak English. They insisted the problem was on my laptop. They said my Anti-Virus program was not working properly. They insisted that I had to allow them remote access to laptop to see where the problems were, then proceeded to try to tell me that I had several Trojans on the laptop and they were causing problems with ROKU. He insisted that the CSRRS files were Trojans. I disconnected the remote access connection and hung up the phone. I looked up all the so called "Trojans" they insisted that I had including CSRRS. CSRRS is needed by windows to run properly. I reset the ROKU stick and continued with the installation with no further problems. The Technician as well as his so called supervisor had no clue. I have over 30 years experience in the computer field, built multiple computers for people, so I do have some knowledge on the subject, yet they talked to me as if I had no knowledge at all, even though I mentioned that I did have past experience with computers. They also insisted that they were based in California, which I doubt, their accent made it extremely hard to understand them. If this is how Tech Support is, makes one wonder just how the rest of the company is!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second one. Still junk.

I bought this to replace an older Roku thinking it would be better. Again, it's a piece of junk. Consistently crashes apps, the remote loses connection 4+ times a day and all that Support tells me is to completely wipe the device and start over. Wiping the device means having to download and sign into all the services again which is a huge pain. I would give this away but, I don't want to give this junk to anyone I care about.

Terrible tech support.

If the HDCP Unauthorized message would stop popping up, perhaps my review would be positive. To make matters worse, HORRIBLE TECH SUPPORT. I cannot get a response to my issue regardless of submission method. Chat, email, and what's worse than no human to speak with via phone!

Looses connection.

I bought this product 2 days ago. From the very beginning it would loose signal every 3-4 minutes. I have great WiFi reception so it's not my internet. I had a Roku from 5 years ago and this ones worse. Sending back to amazon and getting a Fire stick.

Excellent picture

Love the roku streaming stick+ that I purchased. I had a roku 1 and moved it to a bedroom. The only thing I could wish for is a mute button on the remote. I am a senior citizen and have to mute the TV when the phone rings. Otherwise I absoulutly love it.

Remote died in few months for unknown reason

Low rating is due to failure of the remote. It simply stopped working within a few months and I had to buy a new one. Was not dropped or abused. Have to assume poor quality control. Very disappointing when buying a new remote costs almost as much as a new player including the remote. Support was slow to respond.
