Great

I have tried two kinds of Brita filters: the one you put on the faucet and the pitcher. I couldn't use the faucet one anymore because the faucet wasn't sturdy enough. I tried the pitcher. It was wonderful. Until I started to get the carbon flakes with my second filter and the water tasted funny. I told Brita and they sent me a complementary advanced filter. It is great so far! No more carbon flakes in the water or the reservoir and the water tastes amazing! At first I was worried because the water came out a charcoal gray, but after dumping the first load, it was clear. I flushed it twice more just to be certain. I would recommend this pitcher.

Life Saver

I have been using Brita for more than 15years and I am very pleased with it. I never had a problem with the filters or the pitcher. I am presently using one that signals when to change the filter. It would be nice to get some coupons now and then.

Cost Effective & Simple To Use

My water from the tap is much better tasting and is less likely to contain certain bad inert chemicals and minerals by using my Britta filtering pitcher. The charcoal particles are a issue that needs to be addressed but for the cost of the unit what can you expect. Simple challenge with the charcoal particles but not one that will cause me to stop using my Britta filter.

not as good

I recently bought the new all-in-one filters for my refrigerator dispenser but I don't like the filters nearly as well as the old style filters. I followed the directions to run water over them for a few seconds and then insert into the dispenser. The filter likes to pop up and let unfiltered water pass into the dispenser or it is very slow to filter. I can fill the upper reservoir with water to be filtered and leave it overnight. By morning, half of the water is still there, to be filtered. Why is this filter so different?

Bitter Pitcher

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brita Pitcher filter unit does not taste like the faucet unit. The same is true for other brands I've encountered. The water is more bitter or has some aftertaste that is not pleasant to my palette. Some people swear by the pitcher, but I haven't had that sort of luck.

NSF 53 Certified, but doesn't reduce lead?!?

I have been using Brita for years. I recently had reason to make sure our household is protected against lead. I thought Brita's pour through filter being NSF Certified 53 meant we were. NOPE! Buried in the NSF website you'll find that filters must state NSF 53 AND reduces lead. Brita's filters do not. I am extremely disappointed and will be switching to a new brand.

Thanks for being a long-time fan, Sage, and we're happy to discuss this with you. While our Standard Filers don't reduce lead, they are certified to reduce chlorine, copper, cadmium, and mercury. We recommend giving our Elite Filter a try, which reduces chlorine, cadmium, 99% of lead, mercury, class I particulates, asbestos, and benzene. If you have any additional questions, please give us a call at 800-242-7482 using reference number 220902-000330. We look forward to speaking with you.

Terrible

I hope Brita is reading this. I started using the newly designed filter last week, while I appreciated the no-soaking convenience I am not sure it's working right. A lot of water didn't go through the filter. It leaks right down to the pitcher. What's the point?

Sorry to hear that. Please ensure that the groove in the filter lines up with the notch in the reservoir. Then simply press down on the filter firmly until it seats into the reservoir. If you continue to have trouble with this, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-24-BRITA Monday-Friday, between 9am-5:30pm EST. We’re always happy to help.

new & improved design = reduced effectiveness

The new design is more convenient because of the easy to grasp top which makes it easier to change. the water flows much faster through the filter as well, which is nice from a convenience standpoint, but terrible from a water filtration standpoint. The result is water that tastes like slightly improved tap water. So I'll be returning these and I think I'll switch to a large tank filtration system with a mineralizer. Thanks Brita for being the catalyst in this change. Sorry I won't be one of your customers anymore. Bad design...

The new filter is awful.

We have the large dispenser, and we purchased the new replacement filter and it pops out when water is on the top level. Luckily, we were able to find a 3-pack of the prior filter, so we'll be ok for a while. I hope we will be able to go back to the old filter because it works great.
