Brita Water Filter

I have been a Brita pitcher user for well over 10 years and wouldn't use anything else. Also my daughter and I lived together for a few years. The water in our state is awful so we didn't want her puppy drinking that water either so I purchase another Brita xtra large dispenser.

Filter fits ALL pitchers!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm so pleasantly surprised to find that the current Brita filter design fits into my old Brita pitcher, circa 2002. In an era where environmental conservation is an important consideration, I'm happy to support a product that has such longevity. Thank you, Brita!

New Brita Filters

I, like many of you complained about the old filters with the carbon specks in the pitcher. They heard us. The new filters don't need soaking and are great. I just used my first one and, NO FLAKES!!! I've been using it for three weeks now, it's working just fine. THANKS BRITA for listening to us. I think you hit a home run with the NEW FILTERS!!!!

Great

I have tried two kinds of Brita filters: the one you put on the faucet and the pitcher. I couldn't use the faucet one anymore because the faucet wasn't sturdy enough. I tried the pitcher. It was wonderful. Until I started to get the carbon flakes with my second filter and the water tasted funny. I told Brita and they sent me a complementary advanced filter. It is great so far! No more carbon flakes in the water or the reservoir and the water tastes amazing! At first I was worried because the water came out a charcoal gray, but after dumping the first load, it was clear. I flushed it twice more just to be certain. I would recommend this pitcher.

Good filter but needs improvement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the newer version of the original older filter that you had when we first started the Brita pitcher. Although it is better than the older version there is still need for improvement. PLEASE NOTE: The reason for this is due to the lengthy time it takes to fill the pitcher in order to accomplish aiming the water from the faucet directly into the filter openings. It seems that no matter how slowly you 'trickle' the water it still spills over the side and the purpose of the 'filtered' water is basically lost. It would be much more efficient and time saving (since we refill the pitcher a few times a day and who has that much spare time) IF THE FILETER WAS SHAPED AT THE TOP LIKE A 'FUNNEL' . This would allow users to take less time to fill the pitcher, actually get the water into the filter, and make it overall much more convenient. The idea of the Brita pitcher overall is a fantastic idea since it saves so much for users to not have to purchase as many bottles of waters which ends up being more costly. This is just a suggestion that I hope you take into consideration. My review would greatly increase if this could be achieved. I have mentioned this to my family and friends who also use the pitcher with this filter and they all agree. Sorry for the long review but my intentions are not meant to criticize, just offer honest feedback. Thank you

New Filters don't fit snugly, leak unfiltered water

The new filters are allowing so much water to pour around the seal that probably 50% of the water I'm drinking is tap water... Please figure out this design flaw, I bought a pack of 3 and now I'm stuck using them until you guys figure out this design :(

Sorry to hear that. Please ensure that the groove in the filter lines up with the notch in the reservoir. Then simply press down on the filter firmly until it seats into the reservoir. If you continue to have trouble with this, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-24-BRITA Monday-Friday, between 9am-5:30pm. We’re always happy to help.

NSF 53 Certified, but doesn't reduce lead?!?

I have been using Brita for years. I recently had reason to make sure our household is protected against lead. I thought Brita's pour through filter being NSF Certified 53 meant we were. NOPE! Buried in the NSF website you'll find that filters must state NSF 53 AND reduces lead. Brita's filters do not. I am extremely disappointed and will be switching to a new brand.

Thanks for being a long-time fan, Sage, and we're happy to discuss this with you. While our Standard Filers don't reduce lead, they are certified to reduce chlorine, copper, cadmium, and mercury. We recommend giving our Elite Filter a try, which reduces chlorine, cadmium, 99% of lead, mercury, class I particulates, asbestos, and benzene. If you have any additional questions, please give us a call at 800-242-7482 using reference number 220902-000330. We look forward to speaking with you.

The new filter is awful.

We have the large dispenser, and we purchased the new replacement filter and it pops out when water is on the top level. Luckily, we were able to find a 3-pack of the prior filter, so we'll be ok for a while. I hope we will be able to go back to the old filter because it works great.

new & improved design = reduced effectiveness

The new design is more convenient because of the easy to grasp top which makes it easier to change. the water flows much faster through the filter as well, which is nice from a convenience standpoint, but terrible from a water filtration standpoint. The result is water that tastes like slightly improved tap water. So I'll be returning these and I think I'll switch to a large tank filtration system with a mineralizer. Thanks Brita for being the catalyst in this change. Sorry I won't be one of your customers anymore. Bad design...
