Just bought a six pack of this product and there are three problems before I ever use it: The fact that I sought out this web site to complain about this product, which I rarely do about anything, is an indication of my frustration with it, 1) Instructions for routing the tape through the dispenser are incomprehensible: "Pull tape through tabs" You can't pull tape "through" tabs - there is no "through". There is only under or over. Horrible diagram included does not make this any better. Once you figure that out, you are on your own on how to route tape across cutting bar. 2) You can't get the tape off the roll without damaging the roll, the dispenser, or both. There is a white bar to indicate where the tape begins on the roll, only it's not at the beginning, its buried somewhere in the first turn of tape on the roll. You have to use a boxcutter or similar to cut carefully cut into the roll and unwind the first turn, losing some amount of product just to create a starting point. 3) When you attempt to remove the cardboard the instructions are printed on, it tears off and leaves a section under the cutting bar which must be removed to use the tape. This is so difficult to remove it requires needle nose pliers to pull out, and it's so strong that the cutting bar is actually damaged at the four points where it must be removed. Normally I love 3M products. My house, garage and workshop are full of 3M products. I trust 3M to deliver a quality product. The tape on this product is probably wonderful, but that doesn't matter if you can't access or use it due to poor packaging and incomprehensible instructions.

My husband ships products often, and he tried this out. He ran to me to rave about it!! He was thrilled to not have to re-stick the tape down by hand after a few minutes. It stuck exactly where he put it and had a strong seal.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 3M gave me a free sample of this product to evaluate, and this stuff is really strong it held without problem on several boxes of books, and holds well to the cardboard. I even used it to temporarily fix a broken cell phone screen. The only problem with this tape is getting the tape off the roll, it tends to tear off in a thin strip rather than across the entire face of the roll. I had several other people try it to rule my method or arthritis as the cause of the problem, and all had the same issue. Once i got the roll started the dispenser/cutter worked flawlessly and cut well. After cutting a strip I would fold over the last 1/4 inch of tape on itself to make a flap I could use to avoid the issue with starting the tape. I would love to see 3M/Scotch add a similar mechanism for the new roll, a simple fold or piece of cardboard could make this tape much easier to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great. The 2" size is much easier to use than other wider brands. Easy to apply and holds really well. The dispenser could be better, but can be worked with after a little try and error. It does not take away from the usefulness of the tape itself.

The packaging is also sturdy and provides the perfect housing for the tape that allows easy tearing. I highly recommend this tape over any other brand for shipping packages.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this packing tape on some flat rate boxes being send to my family overseas 4000 miles away. The tape was easy to apply with the provided dispenser and worked well with no problem on my shipment. We tend to pack as much as possible in the flat rate boxes and often I need to use several strips of tape just to hold the flaps of the carton down so I can seal the center where the flaps meet. This tape worked out perfectly for this!

Also the tape stops from sticking back to roll and having to find the end. No extra cutting tools needed. 3m gave me a free sample of this product to evaluate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do alot of selling on e-bay and have tried diffrent brands of packaging tape but nothing and I do mean nothing compares to Scotch Brand Premium Packaging Tape. You get what you pay for The other ones don't stay on so I am through wasting money I will only use Scotch brand products so no more wasting money.

Had 6 rolls of this tape forgotten in a warm 2nd floor closet for at least 3 yrs. Got laid off, started cleaning out rooms, found the tape, started making Covid19 masks to ship out to people all over the US. Used up these rolls on Sm & Med USPS boxes, and shipping labels, tape never failed me. Strong and stuck like glue on everything Ive used so far. The found rolls were perfectly fine in the warm closet for many years. I will definitely buy more.
