I bought this tape to secure typical brown moving boxes. The tape fails miserably and does not stick. I've gone through several roles, and always come back to boxes with the tape hanging off, after coming loose because it does not stick. This answers the question why, if you receive a box by mail, it is encased I'm the tape. It's an attempt to secure the package. I'm sure that sales are,high because you have to use so much for every box. It's a junky product.

You get what you pay for The other ones don't stay on so I am through wasting money I will only use Scotch brand products so no more wasting money.

I’ve used it for taping up storage boxes, shipping boxes, and my son’s favorite book that was coming apart. It’s really strong tape and will hold up to a lot of tough jobs! And the dispenser is refillable and recyclable, which is a plus! I absolutely love and highly recommend this tape. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion, and I couldn’t be happier!

With projects for grandchildren, shipping, etc. we go through this tape quickly. This is the 2nd time we have bought the tape (different vendors) and the cardboard inside roll is distorted so you can not pull the tape through the dispenser unless you pull the red plastic sides away from the roll of tape. Causes a lot of frustration!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I volunteer to evaluate products for 3M, and the company recently sent me a sample of Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping tape. I used it to seal up a package being sent across the country and it held up really well. I did notice that a piece to grab when first starting the tape was missing and that would be really nice in order to start the tape. It stuck to my package no problem, but it also kept sticking to the holder that it glides on just before the cutter and that was frustrating. After getting it unstuck multiple times from it's very own holder it worked great. I would recommend this tape to anyone needing to hold a package closed. If you look in the included picture you can see that it kept sticking to the holder, it may be user error, I am not sure.

Just bought a six pack of this product and there are three problems before I ever use it: The fact that I sought out this web site to complain about this product, which I rarely do about anything, is an indication of my frustration with it, 1) Instructions for routing the tape through the dispenser are incomprehensible: "Pull tape through tabs" You can't pull tape "through" tabs - there is no "through". There is only under or over. Horrible diagram included does not make this any better. Once you figure that out, you are on your own on how to route tape across cutting bar. 2) You can't get the tape off the roll without damaging the roll, the dispenser, or both. There is a white bar to indicate where the tape begins on the roll, only it's not at the beginning, its buried somewhere in the first turn of tape on the roll. You have to use a boxcutter or similar to cut carefully cut into the roll and unwind the first turn, losing some amount of product just to create a starting point. 3) When you attempt to remove the cardboard the instructions are printed on, it tears off and leaves a section under the cutting bar which must be removed to use the tape. This is so difficult to remove it requires needle nose pliers to pull out, and it's so strong that the cutting bar is actually damaged at the four points where it must be removed. Normally I love 3M products. My house, garage and workshop are full of 3M products. I trust 3M to deliver a quality product. The tape on this product is probably wonderful, but that doesn't matter if you can't access or use it due to poor packaging and incomprehensible instructions.
