This is a necessary component in making the cheesy potatoes and ham dish my granny always made me as a small child. Out of almost all things I could possibly make that dish is one of my all time favorite dishes that brings back all the comfort I felt as a small child glued to my granny. She would use a crockpot, peel and dice up potatoes and one onion, dice up one roasted ham, pour in two cans of cream of mushroom soup, and dice up one full velveta cheese block. And she would let it slow cook down all day in the crockpot.

This is a staple to have in your pantry, you can make so many things with it from casseroles to sauces and gravies. I grew up eating it in my mom's cheesy broccoli chicken casserole and I've always used it to make green bean casserole at thanksgiving. I've never actually made it like a soup, it does have a mushroom-y flavor but doesn't doesn't like straight mushrooms if that makes sense. It doesn't taste earthy like mushrooms do. I recommend it even if you don't like mushrooms because you'd probably never know it was already in one of your favorite recipes!

I'm not sure how other people eat this soup, but I actually mix one whole can with a whole can of peas. I microwave it then mix it together really well. I've been doing this since I've been a kid. It is kind of like a pea casserole. My friend hates peas, but he will eat them this way!
