Make your latte @home...much better, much less $$

My old De'Longhi Magnifica finally 'passed on' after SEVENTEEN YEARS, and I was so bummed. Then I found this on Sam's online and immediately had it shipped. It is even BETTER than my old machine. I'm so glad I bought this again. #stillnotgoingbacktoStarbucks :-)

Best value espresso machine on the market!

I replaced my 10 years old De'Longhi magnifica for this new model and I did not expect that much of a change. But WOW! What an upgrade I got. This machine does a very thick and good crema and really extract the taste of the coffee. This is quite an experience! Even if this is still a fast grinder, the machine is a lot more silent than before. They also upgraded the water tank so that you don't have to fill it often. It also provides a coffee very hot, which is not always the case for all machines of this type. Seriously, you'll get a very high quality coffee and as good as machines 3 or 4 times higher in prices.

So far so good

I have owned various Jura Superautomatic Espresso makers over the past 10 years. Because the brew unit is buried deep inside the Jura, and not customer serviceable every 2-3 years it had to be sent to Jura service to be cleaned. This was $400 each time and left me without the coffee maker for 4 weeks. This De'Longhi has a removable brew unit which I have been rinsing easily every night. Time will tell if this lasts more than the couple of years of the Jura, but $400 for a new one of these beats the $2000 cost of the Jura, even if I had to buy a new one each time. As for the coffee quality it seems to be slightly below the Jura, but miles above any drip you could own.

Noisy but Good

We have been using a Verisimo since they first came out, but it finally failed. This machine is noisy, especially if you have been using a pod based espresso maker. It does make good espresso if you follow the directions and spend a few shots getting it adjusted. The ability to control grind size, coffee amount, and throw volume makes it possible to finely customize. My suggestion is to leave the grind size alone initially, then set the throw volume, and finally set the amount of coffee. Our machine has been consistent through 2 pounds of coffee to date. I prefer my stand alone frother to the one provided, but you may like it. The internal knock box could be larger. Longevity is a question that will only be answered after years of use, I would recommend it to friends. It produces drinks closer to a store bought Starbucks than even their pod machine can.

Expresso Machine

This unit replaced another Magnifica unit that was 10 years old. This unit was fabriqued in Romania. I mention this as the model number won't work when trying to register in the U.S. I registered using Romania. To get the unit started don't forget to read the part about priming the unit. Other settings such as heat, and timer can be changed from factory settings, but you can. Nice feature of holding the cup button to finish filling a cup. Now that we know how to operate the unit we are pleased.

De'Longhi Magnifica GREAT automatic machine

De'Longhi Magnifica Fully Automatic Espresso is a great high quality machine at a great price. My machine will NOT make espresso or coffee with pre-ground beans. That is a problem. I tried different things, and followed directions to the tee. Otherwise, the settings are GREAT, can customize, the machine is high quality, and somewhat easy to set up... By the way, good to use pre-filtered water for longer machine life.

OK machine

We bought this 3 weeks ago. Machine kind of grows on you . Likes: Very easy to set amount and strength of coffee to your liking. Not as noisy as other machines. Makes very good coffee and looks nice. Dislikes: Water reservoir is too little. Stays on for only 3 hours. It should have options of number of hours you want it on without the 3 hr limit. Final comment: It definitely is not a fully automated machine as we know it, but for the price it is a great espresso machine.

Good machine

I bought this for my husbands xmas present. Easy to work, no directions needed to make your coffee really. But the tray that holds coffee beans and the coffee waste seems a bit small. I guess you couldn't ask for more because it has a built in grinder. All n all, it's a good machine for coffee lovers.

Heavenly

I've only had it a few weeks, but absolutely love it! I want to give it 5 stars, but for cappuccino lovers, it's just shy of being perfect. I don't miss a separate grind and tamp at all. No mess, you can tweak the grind to the particular bean or coarseness you like. You can adjust the flavor by amount of water or length of time. The inside bin fills up after about 10 coffees, and the water tank needs to be filled about as often. My only CON is the frothing wand. For whatever reason, it just doesn't seem to have the right amount of power, stream, or whatever, to get great micro bubbles to create amazing foam. It's great foam, and you can bring it to the temperature you like, but it's not amazing foam. There are many comments about the noise, that is from people who don't grind their own beans. It's as noisy as any grinder out there. Which brings me to the speed. It heats up faster than me walking to close the front door, because I forgot to put clothes on, and come back. Brewed by the time I find my shorts and apologize to the neighbors. Yeah, that fast! I've tried two different beans so far, and love toying with the flavor profiles it creates.

Previous De'Longhi Magnifica much Easier to Use

Had a De'Longhi Magnifica for a number of years that was a dream machine. The frother worked so well, you could almost make whipped pie topping. Loved the creaminess. The frother in this current machine does not work as well, yields small amount and takes much longer. Machine is more complicated than I prefer. Long wait time to pull shots. I am thinking of returning. Making a coffee in morning was delight of my day. Now I skip many days because I dread dealing with it. Thinking of returning.
