Great compact upright freezer

Nice sized compact freezer. Gave us the extra space we needed without taking up much space. i like that it is an upright. When i plugged it in the one side got almost hot on tbe outside and that concerned me. I googled it and found where this is apparently normal because of tbe compressor. The paperwork that comes with the freezer should mention this.

Hi AZGal - we are happy you are enjoying your freezer. You are correct - the freezer is designed to have the compressor dissipate heat by using the exterior of the freezer as a heat sink. It's normal for the exterior to get warm when the compressor is running.

Good working freezer but cheaply manufactured.

Seems like a good freezer but it built cheap, the bottom was all bent up when I unpacked it at home but the damage don't affect the operation so and I had to have it asap so I didn't worry about returning it. It looked like the unit was dropped but the bottom frame bent really easily.

Great little freezer!

Love this little freezer! It arrived dropped and bent on the bottom with a dent on the side. The door was no longer attached. Fortunately I had someone here that helped to put the door on and check the important parts! It is working fine but had to be leveled in the back to work right.

Satisfied overall

It’s a decent size , keeps consistent cold temperature, looks good. My complaint is that the plastic over the refrigerator was torn and the covering over the inner workings at the bottom where the wires are was also not in tact. Other than that I am 80% happy.

Perfect size for family of 2!

This would have 5 stars but my unit came with a dent on the front door. It obviously happened prior to shipping as it was packed securely and had protective packaging in that exact area. This was the last unit at store so I couldn’t exchange. I hid it with a magnet! The height was perfect fit for my space. Price was right!

Had to return after it kept frosting up inside

I bought this freezer at Sams after about a three week search of upright freezers with shelves and it was almost impossible to find one in stock. After following instructions of letting it sit upright for over 24 hours to settle it began frosting up inside the next day. After a week it had about 1/2 inch of ice inside and some on the exposed coils on the shelves. I contacted the company online and they sent me a list of things to do, which I did. After defrosting I tried it again and it still frosted up so I took it back and received a store credit.

Great Purchase

This freezer is on the smaller side, but it is the perfect size for my family, and for the space I had. We HATED our chest freezer so much and barely used it because of having to dig everything out, now we can be organized without compromising space in our garage.

3 little, tiny, caps!

the company is not the easiest to deal with. they made a big issue out of my request for 3 little white caps that were missing in shipment. they requested a picture of the front, the back, the serial number and model number(which I had already provided) As a senior, (70) I do not know how to take pics and send them on the computer! That explanation was not good enough for them. Why do they need pics when they have all the necessary info?? I'll not buy another Thomson product! It's a shame they are like this, cuz the freezer is cute and works well, so far!

Frost builds up quickly

Has a ton of frost between the top of the freezer shelf and the top of the cabinet after only 2 weeks. Frost has built between the top of the frame and the door affecting the seal. Don’t want to have to defrost every 2-3 weeks so I will be returning.

Hello BoyScoutTroopAllen, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Thomson Upright Freezer (6.5 cu. ft.) . We pride ourselves on our high-quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations. For parts and warranty support, please visit https://www.curtisint.com/product-support, email support2@curtiscs.com or call 1-800-968-9853.It sounds like your freezer door needs adjustment - here's a tutorial how to resolve your issue:How to Reduce & Resolve Frost Buildup in Upright Freezers, Refrigerator and Freezer Compartments of Refrigerators.Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately. You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, both sides, & bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging. Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips. Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.Door Seal Care:Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.
