Garbage! Didn't even last 3yrs!

Had this freezer for close to three years and it stopped working. Lost alot of food. Only 90 day warranty should tell you something! Don't bother buying this garbage unless you want to replace it in under 3 years! 🤬

Freezer

Very disappointed in this freezer. Frosts up quickly especially the top shelf. Because of the frost I can’t put anything on top shelf. I have to scrape the frost often.

Hi MTOR - it sounds like your door is not closing properly and it is allowing warm humid air to enter the freezer compartment and condense, especially on the top shelf. Here are some things you can try to solve the issue:
Run your hand around the edge of the freezer door to feel for cold air. That's the location where the door seal is not closing properly.
Loosen the top hinge and adjust the door so that it closes tightly and tighten the top hinge.
Adjust the position of the bottom hinge so the door closes tightly.
Adjust the bottom legs in the front of the freezer so the front of the freezer is slightly higher than the rear of the freezer so gravity helps you close the door.
Close the door on a dollar bill at several locations around the door - there should be resistance when you try to pull out the dollar bill.
You can also lubricate the door gasket with a bit of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to keep the gasket pliable.

DO NOT PURCHASE

The freezer came with dents and the top was almost completely broken off. Its not properly freezing food. Only the bottom 2 shelves get cold enough to freeze food. This freezer was a complete waste of money. Will definitely be returning!

Freezer does Does Not Freeze

Brought freezer on 6/24, let it stand unplugged more than 3-4 hours. It's plugged in and nothing but humming sound that it's running since then. Very disappointing.

Gave out after 16 months

The product worked well until it no longer worked, just months after the 1 year warranty expired. The motor would turn on and off. I would not recommend it, unless you only want to for a short period of time.

WORST FREEZER! WORST EXPERIENCE!

Received as a gift in May 2020 from an anonymous person to freeze food for baby. Stopped working two months later. Curtis refuses to honor warranty because we do not have receipt. DO NOT BUY.

room enough

I purchased this a few months ago. I have been quite satisfied until about two weeks ago when it became very frosted, above the top shelf the frost was quite thick.

Hello wings, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Thomson Upright Freezer. We pride ourselves on our high quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations.
It sounds like your door is out of adjustment allowing warm humid air to enter the freezer and condense causing frost.
Here's a tutorial on how to diagnose and resolve the issue:
How to Reduce & Resolve Frost Buildup in Upright Freezers, Refrigerator and Freezer Compartments of Refrigerators.
Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.
Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:
Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately.
You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.
Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.
TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, both sides, & bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.
Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.
Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.
Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.
Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging.
Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips.
Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.
Door Seal Care:
Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.
Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.

can not be repaired

Do not buy! Igloo or Curtis international does not sell parts and can not tell you where to get them. Our freezer stopped 6 months after warranty was up due to a bad thermostat.

Only lasted a month

Bought this a few months ago. Worked great for a month and then just stopped working. Got it to save on space and gave away my chest freezer that actually worked. Now I have nothing. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.
