Horrendous new formula, Can't be rinsed off
I used to purchase this as my go-to dish soap, as it was much more gentle on my skin than most other brands of dish soap, and was still very effective at cleaning dishes, as well as an effective "all purpose cleaner" soap,. However, In this year (2026), I noticed that the formula had been changed. The first thing I noticed IMMEDIATELY was that th scent was different, it no longer had a mild pleasant scent, but a more harsh smell more resembling an industrial solvent. The next thing I oticed was that it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to actually rinse this stuff of your skn. After wshing my hands in it (or dong dishes with it), I ca literally rinse my hands whle rubbing them together thoroughly for over 60-90 seconds (additional seconds AFTER washing the bulk of the sopa off during the hand cleaning process), and I can STILL clearly notice th srong, unpleasant smell of the new formula. Finally, the last thing I noticed was that after using the product for a few weeks, I started to develop what looks like ead skin "blisters" on my fingers, both on the BACK of the fingers (but also on the tougher pads on the front of the fingers. I am livid that yet another company has ruined what WAS a solid product, and now I can't justify buying any Dawn products anymore.

NEW SCENT IS HORRIBLE!!! I opened a new 70oz bottle and the smell made me toss it in the trash! What are y'all thinking!! Bring back the original smell not whatever you are attempting for this new stuff to smell like!

Horrible Scent
I can't use this due to the scent. For years, the only dish soap that hasn't made me nauseous is origini blue dawn. Now that has been changed. Also, the change wasn't noted on the packaging. Very disappointed.
Thanks, Joe, for picking up a Dawn Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray Refill, and using your previously purchased sprayer to dispense the product. We're sorry to learn that your sprayer's not working now. It might help to know that our Quality Team shares that each sprayer should last around 5 bottles. After 4-6 bottles, it's not unusual for the sprayer to need to be replaced. When you move the sprayer to a new refill bottle, be sure that the dip tube’s facing the same direction as the nozzle. Note that the tube bends. The bottom of it should be facing the same way as the nozzle. Speaking of the nozzle, check that it’s not clogged. If it is, run warm water over the nozzle for a few minutes to loosen any clogs that may have occurred. Let us know if this helps, by calling us any Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, EST. Awful Smell
Add me to the list of folks who has stopped buying Dawn thanks to the awful new smell. Very chemical smelling, had to rewash my hands numerous times to get it to go away. Please bring back the original original smell.

Horrid smell
My mom had used dawn for 40+ years and I have used it for 20+. After this new scent change, we have switched to a new brand. It smells terrible and lingers on dishes. It makes me so nauseous to drink a cup of coffee and smell a floral scent. It makes me wonder what chemicals I am ingesting on my “clean dishes”

This was the first scent change for our Dawn Original in over 10 years, and it was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. We also have many quality checks in place to ensure that you can use Dawn with ease, and we wouldn't expect the product to impart a scent/taste onto your dishes. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it's possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're likely worn to the point of being porous and should be rinsed off immediately and not soaked. We hope this is helpful, and your comments will be shared with our team. We do recommend that you discontinue use of this particular product, if you haven't already. Awful smell, I will use another brand now
Just bought new bottle of original Dawn. Why change the scent to a smell? It stays with you long after use with a sickening sweet smell on my hands. I find it unusable, will throw out and replace with another brand.

The new scent gives me a headache
The new scent gives me a headache, it smells like chemical. And I hate it. I have used dawn for many, many, many years. Unfortunately, I can't use this new dawn.

Fresh smell is awful
The fresh smell is horrible! The dishes smell like laundry detergent and it's hard to swallow food when all you can smell is laundry soap. Bring back the Original scent please! Will not purchase this again.

In regard to the scent lingering and affecting your food, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. Dawn stinks!
Have used Dawn for years but the new smell is in everything, including on the dishes and in our food. I will not be purchasing Dawn again unless it is the "way back" original or scent free!

Dawn stinks
I hate the new scent. It smells sickening, like Febreze or Gain, just overpowering. I will have to throw out the new bottle I just opened. Please change it back to the original scent!
