Old "original" was better
I am so disappointed. I used Dawn for MANY years, my entire adult life. The new smell is terrible! It smells like a chemical plant and doesn't clean any better than before, perhaps even worse. Had to throw it out. My husband and children are also grossed out by the new smell so it's not just me. We have one bottle left of the old "original" that I found lurking under the sink and then we'll have to find a new brand. It's like "New Coke"...they changed something that didn't need changing and made it worse. Hopefully they'll listen to their customers and bring back the old "original"...and seriously, how can they call it "original"? That's pretty sneaky. It's like they knew it wasn't better but wanted to hide it. Are they just making it with cheaper ingredients and want to try to pass it off as having been improved?

Will not buy again
Have used and loved Dawn for years, but with the new scent, I'm out. It's strong, perfumy and so cloying you can't get the scent off hands or dishes no matter how much you rinse. Not good when your food reeks like cheap body spray and animals don't want to use their bowls. Would return if I could. Into the garbage it goes.

Dawn was my go to dish soap; not any longer
The smell is atrocious! My whole kitchen smelled like chemical faux flower odor for hours after using it. I will be returning the bottle and going back to Ivory. I understand that manufacturers might fall prey to the marketers "new & modified is better" misleading statements, but I fail to grasp why they don't simply add a "stinky" line to accompany the original, which people have been purchasing & raving about for years. (Don't say shelf space & facing; that is what contracts are for) I'm disappointed to say that I will not be purchasing Dawn again unless the original scent is returned to store shelves.

The smell
The smell is awful. My hands been breaking out. Please return to original formula without the fragrance! My Grandmother, my mom, I, and daughter all used this product for 50 years! Will not be any longer. I thought my breathing issues was getting worse it was from using this product on my walls for cleaning. Caused burning eyes, nose, throat. As others said it's not rinsing off dishes as it once did. This is likely the culprit to stomach/ bathroom issues in the house.

As all of our products go through strict quality checks to ensure that they are safe to use when used as directed, so we would not expect it to break your hands out or cause any sort of burning eyes, nose or throat, and recommend you discontinue use of this product. We do understand that preferences can vary from person to person, and we design our products with our customers in mind, in hopes that you'll love it as much as we do. So we apologize that that's not the case this time. Please know that comments like yours are how we determine the decisions we make about future products and changes, so you can be assured that we will be sharing your comments with the rest of our team! To get any scent off of your dishes, we recommend you soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added to it (or) run them through the dishwasher (assuming the dishes are dishwasher safe). If you choose to wash the dishes in the dishwasher, pour some vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher along with some vinegar directly into the dispenser. You can also put a cup of vinegar upright on the top rack of the dishwasher so that it gets knocked over and distributed during the wash. It may take a couple of cycles, but the smell will come out. New smell is AWFUL
We just bought a new container of the platinum dishwashing liquid and were shocked by the new scent. It is so terrible that we are going to give away this container and will no longer be purchasing Dawn. I hope the team re-thinks this move and brings back the original scent.

Horrible Change of Scent
I have used Dawn for so many years that I cannot count them. I'm not certain when you changed the scent because I had many large refills, but it is an awful change to one of the most iconic dish soap products. Why would a company mess with success. I read some of the reviews. My Sister always bought green Palmolive and I bought Dawn. Palmolive smells amazing but the “original” Dawn was better. Now it is so strong smelling it is actually like a nauseating perfume. I read some of your responses to people's comments. Why in the world would anyone be told by your company to soak their dishes in vinegar to remove a scent that you made in the first place if changing the scent was a good idea????? I don't know if I can continue to use this new product…… :'(

I use to use dawn the original with the old scent that it for years !!!! It had quite a mild and clean scent barely there and not overly fragranced which was awesome as im super sensitive to overly fragranced products and never had any issues whatsoever , my dishes would smell just clean and no fragranced lingered . However for whatever idiotic reasons they've decided their soap needed a change of fragrance?🙄 seriously ? Everyone i know hates and or even better LOATHES the new scent 🤢🤮 it smells like sewer mixed with cheap perfume sprayed ontop to make it "floral" its DISGUSTING 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤢🤢🤮🤢🤢! I tried it several different times trying to hope maybe it was a bad batch and jope , its just the scent of it now and im devastated because it was my go to soap for everything!!!! Our clinics even had to stop using it because our providers and clinic staff hated it to ! Seriously stop telling us lies about having such "positive feedback " most all your reviews on the product say the same thing as us , its disgusting and headache inducing , it lingers on our dishes no matter how much we rinse or how long they air out , we can taste it in all our cups 🤢🤮, do what all of us want and change it back to the REAL ORIGINAL SCENT 😤!!!! SINCERELY ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS 🤢

Hate the smell!
Why did you change this product? The smell is disgusting. Why do you think people want to smell that while doing dishes? Do not suggest for me to use your fragrance free product because it is not available in the 70 oz refill size and is not available in any stores in my town. After using your product for 40 years I am sad to say I will be buying a different brand.

DAWN STINKS?
We have used DAWN for years. What your company has done to the formulation is inexplicable. IT STINKS. The smell is extremely harsh and permeates the house. It is difficult to rinse off the residual odor off hands and dishes. It leaves a tremendous odor in the sink drain that must be removed with baking soda and vinegar after each use. Please don't come back and blame us. We keep good care of our plumbing and regularly clean our sinks. Please take ownership of the issue you have created.

New formula, new scent?
Was the scent the only thing that changed? The original can never left water spots on my dishes but now everything is covered in spots and this makes me question if they are clean. The smell is very difficult to get off my dishes as well. I loved the original dawn and used it for everything. I'm really sad that it has been changed and am begrudgingly looking for a different dish soap.
