Unhappy

My boyfriend insists on using the Cascade shine shield formula "with the GREASE FIGHTING POWER of DAWN" action pacs in our dishwasher. Only problem is, more often than not, I run the dishwasher only to open the door at cycle completion to find the pac still completely intact! This is not a dishwasher malfuction, as the trap door that releases the pacs does work and I frequently find the pac flopped somewhere on the bottom of the dishwasher. So what do I do? I run the cycle again with the same dishes with the same pac-because why try and use another pac when I've got one at the bottom of the dishwasher that's perfectly unscathed. So I run it again. No change. So, now I'm running my dishwasher again (third time) with a different pac. My hopes are not high.

Best Dishwasher Product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in an apartment and was concerned about how well my dishwasher would perform. My daughter recommended this product and I tried it. I will be using it from now on. I was happy to see my glasses, dishes and cookware come out clean, shining. I will recommend this product to anyone.

Rejuvenated my glasses!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is so good that on THE VERY FIRST USE it completely cleared a set of glasses I was considering getting rid of because of how cloudy they had gotten. A friend suggested I try the Platinum Pacs first, and while I was skeptical, I thought it was worth a shot. It truly was shocking how the entire set came out looking brand new...and I exaggerate not! Since then, this is the only product we use in our dishwasher...which is 12 years old, by the way, and a fairly basic model. Absolutely great product and worth every penny, IMHO!

Easy,convenient, makes dishes sparkling clean

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are definitely easier than liquid/gel, and more convenient than the competitor's product which requires opening each little packet (not easy with wet fingers). They are the very best at cleaning. The only drawback is that they turn quite nasty when wet. If your hand isn't dry when you pick one up you'll notice that the plastic covering starts to melt and stick to your fingers. If your child tries to help and sticks a (very) wet hand into the bag...you can have a big gooey mess. Try keeping them dry- I've set out a small container that I refill with 3 or 4 packs as needed.

Stinky, Dirty Dishes

I've tried all of the "new and improved" products and HATE THEM! I've had the dishwasher repair service out twice for my new dishwasher which is less than one year old. I thought it was the dishwasher, then thought it was the garbage disposal, but now find it's the detergent! The dishes have food particles on them if I don't use a separate rinse agent (what happened to "All in One?"). And they stink like fish even if they look clean when using the rinse agent (the repairman confirmed the smell). Our City tap water smells just fine, so I know it's not that, and we rarely eat fish. Please don't imply that I'm not operating the cleaning process properly and completely. I've been keeping house and using a dishwasher for over 30 years and have never had this problem. I've tried two different cleaning agents for the dishwasher, that the repairman recommended. I've run white vinegar through the dishwasher. We get the water nice and hot and don't run anything that would lower the water pressure. We scrape the chunks off the plate and load the dishwasher properly. I am at my wits end!! It is so embarrassing to serve food or drink from my dishes, as they smell! I have noticed the same thing at friends' homes. I have to rinse the dishes with City tap water prior to putting them in the cupboard! I'm at a point of just washing by hand, it's so frustrating. I don't care how much you say that the product works and it's the operator that needs to change -- this product does NOT work and it's the product that needs to change. I am returning it and not buying it again unless IT changes. Why use a dishwasher if I have to do the dishes again by hand? Yes, we're keeping phosphates out of the oceans (which is a minute amount, by the way) but we're wasting water, time, energy and money using something that just does not work. I believe in preserving our environment, but there are plenty of other issues that are far greater than the minute amount of phosphates in our water systems. If we are going back to washing by hand, we should start making our own bread and sewing our own clothes, too. This is just ridiculous.

Only product that works well in my dishwasher.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cascade Platinum is what the manufacturer recommended for my dishwasher model. I used the coupon and tried Platinum and also several other brands so I could compare the results. No other brand or version came close to Cascade Platinum. It was the only one to get dishes completely clean and shiny. I have used it for every load for several years now. I love to find it on sale or a coupon.

Not Pleased

I have used the Cascade powder for years now and I have recently switched to the Cascade Complete ActionPacs and I am not pleased with it. Since I used them I have had to run my dishwasher at least twice for the same load. I thought it might have just been a fluke the first time and I made sure I rinsed all my dishes off before I put them in the dishwasher but it kept happening. Since I started using the Actionpacs it leaves my dishes feeling slimy and gross, like it has a film on it. I will not use the Actionpacs again, I will have to switch to something else that cleans my dishes the first time.

Terrible since phosphate removal

I've been using Cascade for years. You've known that the mandate for removal of phosphates was coming since the summer of 2010 and you had months to prepare. Have you even tested your new phosphate free product? It's awful. My flatware looks dirty, my glasses are spotty and there's a white film on all of my plastic. A company with the resources of P&G should have been able to come up with a better solution or at least pull the phosphate free product from shelves until it's functional which it's definitely not.

New Zealand Springs

I have long believed that Cascade is the best Dishwasher Detergent on the market. So, I was excited to try the New Zealand Springs scent ActionPacs. What a MISTAKE! The scent is so strong, and lingers so badly that all of our food tastes awful! The dishes have no residue or film that I can see or feel, but the scent is so strong it carries over. I have to re-wash all my dishes after taking them out of the dishwasher, and that doesn't always get rid of it. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase.

Great for Countertop Dishwasher

My husband and I live such busy lives that without the countertop dishwasher that we have we would never have clean dishes. We were kind of disappointed when we first got it and were using liquid soap because things were just not getting clean the first time. Then y mom gave us some of the cascade complete all-in-one action packs and they work amazingly in the dishwasher. With very little exception now I know that I can put something in the dishwasher and it will come out clean the first time.
