This gel has a pleasant smell and absorbed nicely. The strength wasn't enough for his pain but it made it a little less. You don't need a lot to cover the area that has pain. Once you start using Voltaren you don't want to stop because it actually works. I have knee pain and after rubbing it in and using daily it has really helped. The gel is a creamy white color and has a strong minty smell. It comes with the dosage card and has a flip top lid on it. You rub a small amount onto your joints and massage in. It relieves my pain for hours and allows me to do my normal day to day stuff.
