- 5 out of 5 stars review12/31/2016My grandfather ate it religiously every morning for 24 years after he had a heart attack. Mom ate it with my sister and I when we were growing up. One morning when my son was around two years old, I asked him what he wanted for breakfast. He pointed toward the Quaker Oats canister and said, "Grampa Pettys". It didn't compute so I asked again and got the same reply. In the process of clarifying with him that oatmeal was what he meant, I realized that the face on the canister did look like our Grampa Petty. Oatmeal was now referred to as Grampa Pettys in our home. I now have two grandchildren who love oatmeal and call it Grampa Pettys. Additionally, the gazillions of Chocolate Chip cookies that have been made for three generations, starting w...

vanheezeezmomOriginally posted onquakeroats.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/29/2015We enjoy the consistently great flavor of Old Fashion Quaker Oats. Also, as one that watches my sodium intake, I am delighted that no salt is added, only oats go in the box. I like to make it with whole milk, dried cherries, and sliced bananas, a family favorite!
We enjoy this heart-healthy product most mornings.
olsonjnOriginally posted onquakeroats.com - 4 out of 5 stars review7/23/2015I made these oats doing exactly as instructions said to use 1/2 cup oats and 1 cup water or milk, they were as runny as a bowl of cold cereal with milk covering them, somebody needs to put the right directions on the canister of oats. I'll do it myself tomorrow using about half the water, I would think before they put instructions on the canister they would try it themselves. Other wise they are great tasting.
Runny oats

So I went home and proceeded to eat the recommended serving size (3/4 c.) every day and my next blood test proved your oatmeal works.....No cholesterol med's for me!
This really lowers cholesterol!
BJ SealOriginally posted onquakeroats.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/8/2021These are my absolute favorite oats and I use them daily to make my overnight oats! It’s seriously the most versatile breakfast, full of fiber and I never get sick of them! I constantly switch up my recipes/flavors, but Quaker Old Fashion Oats will always be the staple!!
These are my absolute
alyssac226Originally posted oninfluenster.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/9/2020My go-to for oatmeal. The other kinds tend to get mushy and I like my oatmeal to be soft but not like a mush. These oats are super filling and have the full oat, so a much better texture. I usually mix cinnamon and honey in while its boiling and it’s so good! Really easy and fast to make as well. Showed a picture of some of it with chia and cinnamon.jordinm1Originally posted oninfluenster.com
- 1 out of 5 stars review9/11/2025Been eating every morning for the past 4 years and something changed. They are either thicker and or steamed less than before because my cooking method has not changed. They are chewy and do not absorb the water used in cooking and I have not changed the cooking method. Tried using less water and longer cooking time to no avail. Will have to look for a different brand.
Something has changed.
Cos 69Originally posted onquakeroats.com - 2 out of 5 stars review4/30/2025To be honest this review has nothing to do with the quality or taste I still enjoy the oatmeal and the granola bars BUT I just bought a 30 pack or something of the granola bars with chocolate chips and they're so tiny it's ridiculous. Corporations have profit margin has been bigger than it's ever been in history they shouldn't be able to rip us off!!!
Shrink-flation!!!!!! Wow!! Tiny tiny granola bars?

kristinanicholeOriginally posted oninfluenster.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/30/2021I love this product. It is always a staple in our pantry . I enjoy having a bowl of oatmeal in the morning and typically add plain yogurt and peanut butter. I also make protein muffins with this that are dairy free. I like to grab one of those for a quick get up and go snack.
I love this product.
jeanneg10Originally posted oninfluenster.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/30/2021This is my go to oatmeal product I don't even consider any other brands I've been eating this since I was a kid and it works for me, it does take sometime to Cook depending on the style that you get but it's totally worth it and extra delicious when made with milk. If you've never tried this product I highly recommend getting a small container and trying. If you can recommend something better please feel free to reach out as I would love to try something new.my9Originally posted oninfluenster.com
- 5 out of 5 stars review3/21/2015My dad was a teacher and really wanted us to do well on test days, so he'd make us these old fashioned oats (so our "brains would have fuel all morning," he said). He added cinnamon and raisins, which I assumed was because he loved us so much. We always liked test days because of that. Now I make cinnamon, raisin oatmeal for my kids, but we don't wait for test days--we have it all year long!
A Family Tradition
WvianOriginally posted onquakeroats.com - 4 out of 5 stars review1/23/2015In an effort for a more healthy product, please consider a sugar reduction on the instant Raisin, Date and Walnut flavor. The raisins and dates add sweetness and less sugar would improve health benefits. I eat it nearly every morning and sometimes stores sell out of that flavor.
Reduce Sugar
Kathy HOriginally posted onquakeroats.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/8/2021The great thing about plain old oats is they are so versatile! You can make oatmeal for breakfast, energy balls for snacks, oatmeal cookies, muffins, the list goes on and on! Adding fruit and some Greek yogurt for overnight oats is one of my favorites!
The great thing about
paigel87Originally posted oninfluenster.com - 1 out of 5 stars review9/28/2022I have been using the regular quaker oats for years and recently purchased a carton of "Old Fashioned" Quaker oats. This product appears different in texture to the product I have used for over 50 years. Am I imagining this or have you just introduced "Old Fashioned.
Has this product changed
Joe noOriginally posted onquakeroats.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/24/2023I have stage IV cancer and going through chemo. I only am craving mild foods, although I’ve always loved oatmeal. I make mine with water and cinnamon- once done I add the best natural maple syrup I can find, slice in a ripe banana and voila - absolutely delicious!!!! I have it every morning and look forward to it. I’ve tried other brands, including some Irish oatmeal’s, but Quaker Oats is my favorite!!!! Kudos to Quaker Oats!!!
I’m hooked on this oatmeal!
Rob SOriginally posted onquakeroats.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/23/2021These are my favorite go to oats. Honestly I haven’t tried any others in a long time because Quaker is just “the” brand that I trust. I know they will be good quality and good tasting oats. And I like that they are easy to cook for my kids and me alike.
These are my favorite
jessicas1017_4201Originally posted oninfluenster.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/17/2016Quaker Old Fashioned Oats is my absolute favorite cereal. It is my go-to breakfast, the one I eat about 5 days a week. I make it different with fruit and sometimes a little swirl of peanut butter. It is also very versatile, and there are many recipes it can be used in. I have been eating these oats since I was a baby. Love them!
The best!
magnolia49Originally posted onquakeroats.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/9/2023You want a breakfast? You want to bake something? Yoh want a snack? Oats are allrounder. katharinap2Originally posted oninfluenster.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/21/2016I love the texture of the Old Fashioned Quaker Oats for breakfast, I add Cinnamon, Walnuts & Dried Cherries to the water & when it comes to a boil, I add the oats & cook the recommended time. Add a little brown sugar, banana slices & skim milk & you've got a delicious breakfast that sticks to your ribs! I also use oats in meatloaf.
Use in cooking many dishes
