My go-to

*Review provided in return for free product. Nestle Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips can always be found in my kitchen! Their rich flavor enhances cookies, brownies, and more, making them a go-to choice for any baking enthusiast. The smooth texture and melt-in-your-mouth quality make these chocolate chips unbeatable!

Nestle changed the recipe and now they're not good

Lots of bad reviews for these lately, and I'm here to tell you why. The third ingredient of these used to be cocoa butter (see image displayed on the phone in the attached picture). Now the third ingredient on these is milkfat (see bag in photo purchased recently). Here's why this is important: (1) cocoa butter gives a richer flavor profile than milkfat, and (2) cocoa butter has a melting point of around 95 degrees, so it's a big part of the "melt in your mouth" sensation of chocolate (as well as affecting the melting point of the morsels-no wonder so many other bakers have had trouble melting these completely!). Not sure if this was a cost cutting measure imposed by some accountant, but I think it's obvious that consumers are noticing, judging by feedback on this and other sites. Nestle, we implore you to restore the recipe for these back to how we all remember them!

kind of disappointed

For many years I only used Nestle chocolate morsels and loved them. Then you changed the recipe and made them dairy and not parve. Since then I have not used them. I would be very happy if you went back to the non-dairy recipe. And most of my friends would agree.

Chocolate Lovers Pie

This is a great recipe using Nestle Toll House Morsels: Chocolate Caranel Truffle Torte: Crust: 1 and 3/4 cup very finely chopped pecans 2/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter Stir together, then press into bottom and up sides of 10" pan with removable bottom. Place onto baking sheet. Bake at 350 F for 15 to 18 minutes. Cool completely. Filling: 2 cups heavy whipping cream 16 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips Heat cream until just to boil. Remove from heat and add morsels, stir until completely melted. Pour into cooled crust, refrigerate for 2 hours, or until set. Caramel Sauce: 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1/3 cup unsalted butter 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream Heat all ingredients, except cream, to full boil. Cool for 5 minutes, then stir in cream. Garnish: 1 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped until stiff peaks. Serve with whipped cream and caramel sauce.

Grandma's Cookies

My mom (who passed away in 2012) made famous chocolate chip cookies. She only used Nestle Toll House Semi Sweet Morsels and my sisters and I have all tried to duplicate the recipe (she did not write it down) but have not quite gotten it right yet. Everyone always requested my mom's cookies for any celebration/party/event.

Your chocolate chips are not the same!!!

I have been so disappointed in the last 2 bags of chocolate chips I purchased that I began searching the internet to find out if you changed your formula. You keep replying to others' comments that you haven't changed your recipe but it is CLEAR to all of us that something has changed. I sincerely hope you will change it back. The new chips are terrible. Little taste. Not smooth and flavorful. More like eating plastic. I won't buy these anymore.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. As we've stated in other posts, we haven't made any changes to the recipe of our morsels. The most recent change was in 2016, where we removed all artificial colors and flavors. However, that change was so long ago, it wouldn't be what affected the two bags you recently purchased. Only one on my shelf

Just used up some to jive up a boring cookie recipe. Threw in some leftover Nestle chocolate chips and Nestle butterscotch chips. Raw dough was yummy; baked cookies were gone in 24 hours...and there's only two of us. Ps. Don't tell the dietary gurus.

Best chips you can buy

I have always bought and used Nestle Chips. They are what I grew up with, and have always used the recipe for cookies off the back of the bag. The taste never varies and the quality is always the same...the best. I will continue to buy, bake and enjoy your product.

The bag contents keep shrinking!!

I have used this product for YEARS and am always happy with whatever I bake using it. But . . . in the last few years, the bag has shrunk in weight. And the price has almost doubled! The recipe for Nestle chocolate chip cookies hasn't changed but the amount of chips in the bag has. You need to buy 2 bags to get enough chips in your cookies. It's all about the $$$.

Chocolate Delight

I love the taste of Chocolate. Nestle Chocolate is the best tasting chips. At Christmas I dip Pretzels in melted chocolate Nestle chips. Then drizzle melted Nestle White Chocolate onto the coated Chocolate Pretzels. I bag the Pretzels in bags tie with ribbon and they are sold at our Annual Christmas Bazaar.
