Semi-sweet goodness!

I used the semi-sweet morsels in my go to recipe of chocolate chip cookies. The morsels seemed a little less sweet and more creamy than the store bought brand I had been using. My family personally likes the less sweet variety, so this was great! They had just enough "melt" to them, so you still could bite into a chip. I would definitely buy Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chips again! I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.

I love nestle chocolate chips!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these semi sweet chocolate chips in cookies. I love nestle semi sweet chips in cookies, they always remain "melty" even after the cookies have cooled and taste delicious! I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.

Simply the BEST!!

There is no other chocolate chip comparable to this one especially when baking the toll house cookies recipe on the package. When I was a little girl I walked a even smaller little girl to school , her Moma baked them every day for us when we got home. I have loved them all my life. You can try the cookie with another chip but you will not get the same taste I promise. I baked some for Halloween and we used orange icing to draw pumpkin faces on the cookies for the kids on our street that hang out all the time here and next door with the kids.

makes best chocolate chip cookies

these are the best chip to make chocolate chip cookies with. They are so much better than cheaper brands and those others do not have the quality that these do and when making a chocolate chip cookie you want the best in it for the flavor and the taste and texture.

Terribly frustrating and I'm very upset!!

What gives? I've used Nestle chocolate chips for years and never had this problem before! I made a pan of toffee bars (shortbread base and then melted chocolate chip topping, sprinkled with nuts). Bake the base, then sprinkle evenly w/ the chips, back in the oven to melt the chips for 3 min., take out and smooth the supposedly melted chips into a smooth frosting and top w/ nuts. Simple, right? Definitely not this time!! I've ended up w/ unmelted chip blobs, a now overbaked base because I had it back in the oven for a total of 7 min. in an attempt to melt them and wouldn't you know these were to be for my nieces's bridal shower!! And I do not have the ingredients nor the time to bake another pan of toffee bars--GRRRR!!! Nestle's chocolate chips DID NOT make my day today!!! The last time I'll buy Nestle chocolate chips!!

Hi, Jo. This is not what we want you to experience while baking. From this description this sounds like our Morsels seized. Our Toll House Morsels have a low melting point. This may cause what you have described. We would suggest melting the morsels according to the package instructions next time. Then you can pour it over the shortbread base for your recipe. If you are melting our Morsels you can add 2 tbs of vegetable shortening to help thin out the chocolate. We hope that this helps you. We certainly hope that you will try the recipe again and happy baking!,Consumer Engagement Center,Brianne, clientresponse

Starting my search for a new go-to chocolate for baking

I bake thousands of cookies every year and always relied on Nestle semi-sweet chips for my chocolate needs. In recent years I have had failure after failure on recipes I've been baking for decades. The chips just don't melt the way they used to. This year was a record 10 pounds of chocolate ruined despite constant temperature testing and humidity monitoring. I had better luck buying couverture chocolate and tempering it than following age-old recipes calling for chips. Whatever you changed, please change it back.

Problem with melting!

I love my Nestle Chips in my desserts that don't require melting first, but I just tried to melt the chips to make Frozen bananas and it was a no go! Since I was desperate to have some melted chocolate, I decided to add some milk to the pan and got it to loosen up to the point I could get my dessert add.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that you had a problem with your morsels melting. Nestlè Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsels are heat sensitive and have a low melting point. At higher temperatures, the sugar also melts and scorches, which can cause the product to seize, or become grainy and hard to work with. Small amounts of moisture can also cause the morsels to seize; for example, moisture from a wooden spoon or steam from a double boiler. To help correct this, add vegetable or canola oil, 1 teaspoon at a time, up to 4 teaspoons, and stir until you have the correct consistency. We don't recommend using butter, water, or milk. Please expect an email from us soon.,Consumer Engagement Center,Jennifer, clientresponse
