I haven't used any chocolate chips in a year or two. Tonight we were making chocolate covered crispy peanut butter balls. I poured the bag of Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips into the bowl and sneaked a handful for a little taste, just like I've done all my life (I'm 53). My first thought was, "These taste funny!". Melted them with 1/4 cup Crisco in the microwave. Didn't have any trouble melting. It was very smooth, but I took another taste and it still tasted "off". Even kind of a chemical taste. This bag had the "new look" so I thought maybe something had changed. Dumped the whole batch and sent my son to another store to get another bag with the "old" packaging. Took another taste and this one tasted strange, too. We're going to go ahead and use it. Hopefully the sugar and peanut butter taste will compensate for the poor chocolate taste. I've read two pages of reviews where the company has said there is no change, but I've used these my whole life and SOMETHING is different. Very disappointed. Will have to try another brand. :(

The chocolate works well in any recipe calling for chips or chunks. Creamy, semi-melted, rich chocolate flavor. They also melt easily for making fudge or dipping ends of cookies. I've been baking over 60 years and have never been disappointed with Nestle's chocolate chips. They are the only kind I buy. Thanks for a consistently great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Nestlé tollhouse semi sweet morsels in a batch of cookies that I made. The bag came with plenty of the product, I had more than enough. I liked the not as sweet taste of the semi sweet, however, it was a little less sweet than I usually like in my cookies. It has a vibrant chocolately taste and the cookies came out great! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I prefer the milk chocolate morsels. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.

I always pop a few of the semi-sweet morsels in my mouth prior to baking...glad I did. Chocolate does not have the same deep flavor that a Toll House cookie is known for. Tastes almost artificial. Another formula change issue??? I've been baking for years and am so tired of these companies reducing the formula, creating an imposter so they can line their pockets. So tired of this. Nestle, you have lost another customer.

I've Nestles morsels exclusively for all my holiday baking for decades but this year, they won't melt. Fudge and peppermint patties and peanut butter balls all ruined. Please change the recipe and consistency back! I'm so disappointed as is my family who has come to expect perfect holiday treats.

Before any of the Morsels can be used, I must test a few for quality of flavor! LOL I use them to make candies, cookies, brownies and cakes. If I have leftover melted morsels, grab crackers, cookies, chips, pretzels or chilled fruit sticks and dip away! After all, chocolate is like fine wine, never waste it!

Nestles Toll House Chips were the only chips I bought. I used them in brownies, cookies, and melted them for cakes and ganache. In the past few years, they no longer melt smoothly and have become much sweeter, too sweet for most recipes. I tried to keep using them for cookies where their melting was not an issue, but they were too sweet and did not give the same mouth feel as they used to give. I was so disappointed, but I've found other brands that work fine.

Nestle toll house semi-sweet chocolate morsels are the only brand and kind of chocolate chips that I purchase. They are consistently shaped and always taste the same. No other brand compares in flavor. The morsels bake perfectly in bars and cookies for a wonderful flavor.

I retired last fall after working for 45 years so for the holidays I finally had the time to bake the "complicated" cookies and desserts I've always wanted to make but didn't have time. I tried "store brand" and other brands of choc chips to save a bit of money, but my cookies always tasted a bit off. Went back to Nestle, things are perfect again. My cookies turned out so well that our contractor actualy asked for the recipr for his wife. Success!

Whether I'm making quick breads from scratch, pancakes, muffins, cakes, and more, adding Nestles' morsels ramps up the flavor! When giving out baked goods for Christmas, recipients always rave about how they enjoy the flavor which the morsels add to the item.
