- 5 out of 5 stars review2/27/2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsels bring me right back to my childhood, evoking memories of the warm and gooey cookies that my mom used to make. When given the opportunity to receive a free sample of the morsels to use in a recipe, I jumped at the chance to try something new and different. I chose to make a Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake, knowing that the rich flavor of the semi-sweet morsels would match well with the sour cream based coffee cake. The hint of cinnamon in the crumb topping balanced perfectly with the chocolate. The best thing about using Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsels was the quality of the product. Each bite was what one might expect from Nestle - delicious and creamy....
Quality Product With Excellent Flavor
GracieOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/15/2018There is no substitute for the best chocolate chips! The quality of these chips can't be beat. I've tried others and always come back to Nestle Toll House. I use them in baking and candy making. They melt evenly yet can hold their shape if necessary. They taste better than others and the quality is always top notch.
Nothing Beats the Best
2bestarkOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review12/2/2016I looked on this site to see if others had had the same issues as me with trying to get the semi-sweet chocolate chips to melt. I have tried multiple methods over the course of several weeks trying to get these to melt for different projects but to no avail. Even over a double boiler with no moisture in the chocolate and added vegetable oil they won't melt properly! The chocolate seems to seize but unlike typical chocolate that has been overheated and seized it's not gritty it just is stiff and difficult to work with. Works okay when added to cookies etc. but I will not try to use these again for melting. Very disappointed.
Disappointing!

Nothing compares to the perfect blend of either sweetness or simple chocolately goodness when needed for baking recipes!! My grandkids even love eating them right outta the bag too!!
Perfection at it's Best!!
TigergalOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017When I was a kid my mother made Toll House cookies on a regular basis. Now with the internet replacing cookbooks ideas are rampant ! Nestle Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels, aka chocolate chips are still a staple in my pantry & on those days your Mother told you about, just pop a few & things will be better -- no need to cook :-)
Real comfort food in any form !
Dixie LeeOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 2 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017My favorite choice for chocolate chip cookies for four plus decades was Nestles. Recently, my store began stocking Ghiradelli and I was surprised at their superior taste. They are more expensive, so I still use both brands depending upon the end product. This probably is not what you wanted to hear. Ghiradelli are smoother and less waxy tasting, in my opinion.
Former go-to chocolate chips
The Baking StorkOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 2 out of 5 stars review6/9/2017I love my Nestle Chips in my desserts that don't require melting first, but I just tried to melt the chips to make Frozen bananas and it was a no go! Since I was desperate to have some melted chocolate, I decided to add some milk to the pan and got it to loosen up to the point I could get my dessert add.
Problem with melting!

Nestlè Toll House Semi-Sweet Mo... - 5 out of 5 stars review2/13/2024I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own. I used these for baking a number of different desserts. They worked very well in my classic chocolate chip cookie recipe, as well as for adding texture in chocolate zucchini bread. They are just sweet enough to give a nice bite to the desert without being overwhelming. These have been a go-to staple in my household for years and will continue to be. Nestle is a brand I trust, and every recipe I have made with these semi-sweet chips further serves to support that. #freesample
Perfect for all of your baking needs
KatieOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/26/2024Nestlé Toll House Semi-sweet Chocolate Morsels! You can pay more than $2 each for delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries, or make them yourself just how you like them. Melt ¾ cup of chips and ½ tsp shortening in the microwave or over a pot of simmering water. Stir until smooth. Dip strawberries, graham crackers, or apple or pear slices in the mixture. Let set in the refrigerator. So easy! I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own. #ad
Keep a bag in your cupboard!
AdelaOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/7/2024I received this item as a free item for review purposes and this is my own opinion of item as I used it in my cookie baking. I have tried other brands of chocolate chips for baking chocolate chip cookies and have always come back to Nestle Toll House because the chips have always been the right amount of sweetness for me. I would always follow the recipe on the package as it produces the best cookies. Only exception is that I also add some shaved unsweetened chocolate (1/2 cup to 1 cup depending on how much bitter chocolate you want in the cookies) as it adds another dimension to the chocolate chip cookies. So the semi sweet chips with the unsweetened shaved chocolate makes the cookie much more delectable. Give it a try you will be quite ha...
Best chocolate chips for your baking needs
CrystalOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/25/2019The toll house pie is a must every Thanksgiving. My sister in law has a large family that join together for the holiday. Since I work on the holiday I cook something for her to take. Chocolate is a stable for them. This pie is fought over. I now send several over but someone always tries to hide one to take home to their house. Easy to make and always a hit at party
Thanksgiving tradition
LindasOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/24/2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family has been using Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels all my life (I am 65). I am avid baker and I always buy Nestle's products because they produce high quality baked goods that taste wonderful. When people at work hear that I have baked something (especially something with Nestle's chocolate), they always take the time to tell me how much they enjoy what I made. I think when people take the time to let you know they enjoy something, you know it has to be good ... and it is good because I use Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.
Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsels
Corvette's MomOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review7/3/2017We went through 2 bags of these, trying desperately to make a chocolate sauce. The instant they melted, they seized. We've tried a half dozen different approaches, from medium heat, to low, low heat on a double boiler where the bowl remained comfortable to touch. Every time, they seized into a lumpy, grainy mess. We are now trying a different brand, and will not go back to Nestle. Ever. They've managed to cheap out so hard on their products that they are no longer worthwhile. Lots of pastry chefs say to avoid this brand for good reason, it sucks.
Doesn't melt
JDubOriginally posted onverybestbaking.comverybestbakingpwrThank you for sharing your experience. Chocolate is a very sensitive confection and can seize, not only due to heat, but also... - 5 out of 5 stars review12/12/2018i just happened to read the reviews on your semi sweet chocolate morsels. ive been baking with them for over 50 yrs. im shocked by these negative reviews so much that i felt compelled to write one of my own. yes the package amount has changed over the years but what hasnt? just adjust. i took the recipe on the package decades ago when in high school & adjusted it to make what has been my signature chocolate chip cookie ever since. through the years i have been told i should sell them, trademark the recipe etc... but i bake for my & the recipient's enjoyment so that was never a consideration. my point is that i see no difference in my cookies, neither do any of the recipients so im confused by all this negativity. as far as the chips melting...
my choice forever
amk48Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017Nestle's semi-sweet morsels are the best I have found for chocolate chip cookies. The morsel retains its shape during the baking process and I really like that. My family even likes eating them straight from the bag (maybe that means I should make cookies more often)!
The Best
bawdlwOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017Nestles's chips "ALL FLAVORS" are so easy to use and amazing flavors to every dish. At the holidays I make several flavors of fudge. I use every flavor chips you make and that are available in my grocery stores - At our Fall Festival, the kids and parents see many plates of Fudge on the prize table at the Cake Walk ~ and the line gets really huge when they see someone walk by with a dish of my flavorful Fudge, made with NESTLES' Chips.
Totally Awesome!

Wonderful product
BakerOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017There is a reason Nestles' Toll House chips are everyone's first choice. They are a great addtional to any chocolate chip or just chocolate recipe. They taste great, they melt evenly and completely. You can eat them straight out of the bag to satisfy your chocolate craving. They don't always cost more than generic BUT they are worth more.
There Is A Reason

All opinions are my own. It was delicious and the fudge frosting was perfect without being too sweet. I would make it again. I got the recipe from www.verybestbaking.com/toll-house/recipes/raspberry-fudge-torte/
Everyone loved it!
TLEP40Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017Consistently creamy and delicious! I keep one bag in the freezer and another bag in the pantry. At room temp the morsels are consistently creamy to melt, fold or sprinkle on top. The classic semi-sweet flavor has a wonderful balance of chocolate, sweetness and vanilla.
oh so creamy and delicious!
